  1. yeah it does. NOTHING but Collinite goes on ANY of my vehicles. I also use it on my skiis, toolbox, shower, and anything else I can wax. I guess I just love how the paint feels and how easy it is to keep the car clean. I think I'm going to order another case of #846 Insulator wax., as I prefer liquids instead of pastes.
  2. The reason the bass end sways on snow is because the car has what GM calls "positraction" If you gas it on snow, both tires spin equally. It is also called limited slip differential
  3. That is a tough call. It sound to me like you are not getting enough electrical current to the starter. I'd check and make sure the battery ground to both the body and engine block are clean. I had a friend (not with a Lexus) who had a bad body ground and it really caused problems, not unlike what you are experiencing.
  4. I think there is some computer control that automatically increases the idle speed so the car doesn't die when you are at idle. The Lexus dealer told me my compressor was "locking up" when it stopped working. The light never flashed, in fact it still glows steady even though the compressor doesn't engage. I have a code something with an air mix sensor or something. I have yet to figure out what to do about it.
  5. You can buy the shop manuals at any Lexus dealer. There is 3 books, $100, $100, & $50 so plan on $250 plus tax. You can also find them on ebay sometimes. I use the alldata.com $25 a year and it covers about 90% but still is nowhere as good as actually having the shop manual.
  6. Tan, your car looks very nice with the new trim. Hmmmm maybe this summer I'll do something like that. I agree that the clear parking light lenses look better, Are they hard to get off? I looked briefly and didn't see any connections.
  7. I wa surprized to hear that you are not suppose to do total fluid flushes. When I had the dealer service my transmission they said all they do is drain, clean the screen, and refill. Good information you found there Monarch (ODU?)
  8. I have one of those buffer machines. It has pads that attach around the disc. I guess it's okay but I still usually wax on wax off by hand. The wax I use comes off so easily anyway that I really don't need it. And I am not even considering changing waxes, I gave all my Maguires Gold Classic and everything else away since I knew I'd never need it again.
  9. I think the warn thing is kind of like a tachometer. The worse you are, the higher they go. 0% means you are being too good.
  10. I know from reading previous posts that there is a plastic EGR tube that runs behind the intake manifold. Several people mentioned about how fragile it is. Perhaps your problem is that the tube is cracked. Any deviation from set parameters will activite the service engine code. I am sure there are posts on this in the gallery which show exactly where to look. Hope this helps some. Denny
  11. Can the emblems just be glued on?
  12. 90LS I had a 1970 Electra 225 and a 1971 Electra 225. The 70 was quite a fast car for a land yacht. The 1970 455 had tremendous horsepower and would really go. My 71 was not nearly as fast as it was eben bigger and I think the horsepower had dropped that year. My 70 got about 10-12mpg, while the 71 got about 6-8mpg. Even the VP would be happy at the way that thing guzzled premium. Obviously tires have a lot to do with the LS's ability to burn rubber. My tires aren't that good, they are GoodYear Aquatred III's which are great in the rain and terrible the rest of the time. Having a little left over winter sand on the streets really helps you break them loose but be careful, with the posi, the car goes sidewards quickly. Aren't the SC's front wheel drive? Nobody wants to see a FWD car burn out because it just doesn't look right. My friend did it with his Cadillac northstar and while it did burn out, it looked rediculous. Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone
  13. My garage is important to me because I spend a lot of time in there. Usually waxing or cleaning an engine or something. I like having lots of vehicles, but it does take quite a bit of time maintaining them all. As soon as I get all the details worked out on this driving simulator, I will post plans on how to build one. The tools you would need would be a circular saw, screw gun, and a band saw. I built the entire thing out of materials I had on hand. I had the seats already, but they are cheap at junkyards. I used two seats so I could take people for rides which scares the out of them. By the way, I ALWAYS have two cars in the garage because if you leave one out, the space quickly fills with junk. I like the idea of posting pictures of our garages, maybe we could have a Garage Gallery? Thanks for all the cool stuff you all said and if you have any suggestions for the simulator, let me know. denny
  14. hey ls400 is your current emblem silver? and what are you going to do with your old one?
  15. No, as a matter of fact, I haven't? Maybe because without the radio, the cops couldn't catch an LS. Or more likely, because they are invisable to cops. If I was a cop, I'd want to catch the tricked out, coffee can Honda dudes, not some "gentleman" in a luxury car.
  16. Nice to know you can hit 150 in third gear. What happens in Poland if they catch you going 150mph? In the USA I think they might shoot you.
  17. And oh yeah, 2X, your directions were excellent. I'll be saving them for my files. Denny
  18. urt Oberg posted a very detailed photo essay on this very topic. I have a copy on my home computer, but I am in New Jersey right now. When I get back to VB on Sunday I can email it to you. Better yet, contact Oberg or do a search.
  19. Hey thanks for putting the picture on there Blake. Wish I could figure out how to do that. Agent 99, I have 5 cars. My Caprice is white, the red car in the picture by my truck is my 66 Cutlass. I am actually trimming out my whole garage. I have the simulator in the room over the garage. The cabinets are history, they are being upgraded to new white cabinets. I need some space for my huge new toolbox.
  20. I doubt it would improve either performance or economy. I think it just burns slower. They make it for hot rod guys who have really high compression engines. I just got off of I-95 a half hour ago. I know why they call it 95 too. The only thing going to the moon would be your money, and that's not any fun.
  21. Depending on in which position to EGR valve is stuck, you may or may not experience a noticable problem. The EGR is part of the emissions system which means if you live somewhere that they check emissions, you probably won't pass. I don't think it is that expensive. I had the Chevy dealer replace the EGR valve on my Caprice and it cost about $250. Double that for a Lexus probably if you have them fix it.
  22. It probably isn't a good idea to buy a car that has had four owners and been all over the country. Sometimes this is done to "clean" titles of flooding, wrecks and other stuff that is undersirable.
  23. What is the "T mast O ring"?
  24. From what I have read, it is perfectly okay to use synthetic oil in a new engine. The synthetic doesn't prevent proper break in, it just lubricates very well. Somewhere on LOC there is a very detailed report about oil. It would benefit everyone to read this report. If you can't find it, I saved it.
  25. The fluid level should be between the two marks.
