  1. You say that you bought a sirius xm tuner and had it installed, is it a Lexus tuner or an aftermarket tuner? You need to consult the manufacturer of the tuner for help with parental controls.
  2. My 2005 has the lug nut key, in a plastic pouch, sitting in that recess.
  3. Here's my three cents worth, I have tried Bosch and Splitfire plugs in other Japanese engines and found no improvement in fuel mileage or performance. The OEM has engineered the engine (combustion dynamics, fuel delivery, and ignition) to provide the best driveability, reliability, and performance for any specific stock engine. If you are only trying to maintain what is already provided, then stay with the OEM recommendation. If you are re-designing the engine to produce higher performance, then you should select an appropriate spark plug based on your own engineering expertise, or at least based on the recommenadtions of an experienced engine tuner. You can't seperate the total package, the ignition system (including the spark plugs) must play well with the fuel/air system and the mechanical aspects of the engine. I don't think that that any spark plug would improve performance or fuel economy in a stock or nearly stock engine. For my money, I would stick with the OEM spark plugs.
  4. I would suggest that you remove all spark plugs and try cranking it with the starter just to make sure that it is not hydraulic locking. I had a similar thing happen (not on my Lexus) and it was as simple as a cracked intake manifold.
  5. If you are sure that it has fuel, check the fuel pump relay and fuse. If they are OK, you may have a clogged fuel pump screen or defective fuel pump.
  6. I can't find 0020 code ANYWHERE, any help would be appriciated, THANKS! This website has a directory of OBD II diagnostic codes. Code 0020 is not referenced, are you sure of the code? http://autorepair.about.com/cs/troubleshoo...bl_obd_main.htm
  7. I can’t answer your questions about the Sirius satellite installation on the 05 ES, but I do have the XM dealer installed optional XM system on my 05 ES. My ES has the premium sound system without the navigation system. My total cost was just slightly lower than your dealer is quoting. (maybe due to local labor rates) I think that the dash board was opened up because they left a small scratch on the digital clock. (buffed out easily) Two and a half hours at the local labor rate seems to be quite reasonable due to the amount of interior work. My antenna is 2 ½ inch square and ½ inch high; it is installed on the package shelf inside the back window and sits next to the center mounted stop light. (hardly noticeable unless you know to look for it) My XM receiver is a Pioneer unit, my guess is that the sound system is Pioneer also or at least is compatible. All of the SAT functions are exactly as described in my owner’s manual. My system does not have a SONG SCAN function as you describe it. The song display does not scroll (or least we have not found how to make it scroll) and only displays a certain number of characters; Ricky Nelson reads RICKY NE and runs out of digits.
  8. I'm sure that each state and each insurance company deal with diminished value differently. Here's my experience in South Carolina, I bought an 05 ES330 on May 31, 2005, eight days and 252 miles later I got hit by an SUV running a stop sign. The repair was almost $10,000 but the car was not totaled (the car no longer can qualify as a Certified Pre Owned). The other guys insurance company paid all of the bills and offered $2,000 for diminished value. I estimated the diminished value at $7,000, I then went to my Lexus dealer's Certified Pre Owned manager and got a cash value apraisal for my car in an undamaged condition and also in the repaired condition. I was surprised that the difference in value was only $4,000. The insurance company and I settled on the $4,000 amount.
  9. Thanks for the welcome guys, steviej, My Lexus was built the last week in April 05 and the TC 0004-03R was released to the dealers the first week of April 05, so mine should have the latest ECM and it should be loaded with the latest software release, at least I am hoping so. The local Lexus service manager checked my VIN and assured me that it was not subject to the latest revision of the TC. Alan, My wife does let me drive her car sometimes, like when I take her out to dinner or when I take her on vacation, hehehe. I probably only drove her last car 20K miles of the 130K miles on it when she got her new Lexus.
  10. Hello to all, my wife just recieved her new 05 ES330, I was unaware of the transmission problems until after delivery. Hers was built after the TSB004-03 added the 04 nad 05 models, so should have the latest software. My daughters 05 ES330 was built prior to Dec 04 and shouldn't have any software updates so I will do a compariosn between the two. It has taken me a few hours to read all 25 pages of this forum, but it was well worth the time to get such a historical overview. I drove the dealers courtesy 05 ES330 (built in Nov 04) for about 100 miles and only noticed a transmission lag when beginning to accelerate after coming to a near stop, 3-5 MPH, and then only twice. So far I have driven the new Lexus less than one mile and the wife has only driven it 64 miles, but neither of us have had the first experience described in this forum. If the wife ever lets me drive her new Lexus again, I'll check it out more thourghly.
