  1. I like the www.JackyPerformance.com dual exhaust for the Lexus SC300 cars. It bolts up to the stock sc300 mid-pipe just in case you want to add the other stuff later. It's mandrel bent stainless steel with straight-thru stainless steel mufflers too and it's not loud or drony, but flows well with good tone.
  2. Map-ecu is much better than VPC IMHO. I sold the vpc a long time ago, thanks.
  3. You can achive 350bhp and even 350rwhp on a stock 2JZ-GE engine :). This means all you would need is a turbo kit and a FMU or slightly larger injectors, appropriate fuel controller, good exhaust & intake, and bam you have a 350hp car :). So, you don't need to upgrade your headgasket, which is good, because doing the headgasket properly takes many hours of labor. The amount of boost you can run varies with turbo size and what kind of fuel control you are using. If you use a standalone EMS and have complete control of your timing curve, some folks have run ~12-13psi with a small turbo on stock headgasket. Most people with piggy back fuel controllers don't boost more than 8psi to be safe on stock headgasket. Since you have a 1997 non-vvti 2jz-ge, you don't have to change any of the engine internals since they've been proven to hold 600-700rwhp reliably and daily. Regarding suspension..prepare yourself for the worst = replacing all of your control arms + bushings, sway bars, and stock shocks/springs. This leave a nice dent in your wallet, especially after the turbo kit. Turboing sc300's is not cheap, but has been hyped as a car that is able to be turbo'd properly for cheap. It's not.
  4. The following is a Universal VPC that will work with any chip (for any car) you use. With the current chips, it will work on turboed 2jz-ge engines and 7mgte supras. This HKS Vein Pressure Controller kit with these chips will work perfectly for adding a turbo to a 2JZ-GE car AND work perfectly for any 7mgte Supra cars. I was going to use it for my car, but the map-ecu ended up working, so I never installed this HKS VPC kit. HKS VPC kit with 550cc injector chip (already installed) and extra stock 7mgte injector chip --> includes wiring diagrams, all accessories including full MKIII harness! Accessories include IAT sensor, boost pressure sensor, original box, etc. Nothing is cut and everything works PERFECTLY 8) Everything is in like new condition Price: $600 shipped I do not check pms, so please email me :). 5. Do you have any first experince with the 2J and what you're referring to? Because if you don't I'm doubtful you have a full understanding of what you're talking about. It seems like you're spreading some misinformation. Please correct me if I'm wrong. :chairshot:
  6. for more good info, go to the following websites: www.clubna-t.com www.clublexus.com www.supraforums.com And ALWAYS remember there is no such thing as "SLAPPING A TURBO ON"to this car. It requires a lot more time, proper understanding, and proper usage of a COMPLETE NA-T parts setup...in other words it's not as easy as persons who've never done it make it out to be.
  7. If you don't have extensive mechanical expericience and detailed auto knowledge, I recommend going NA-T. I also recommend going NA-T because you're car will be UNoperational for less time compared to a full swap. Several of these "one off" parts are now available for the NA-T community. NA-T is cheaper for the common person without the tools and lift necessary for a 2JZ-GTE swap. It is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper if you buy used parts and piece together your own turbo kit ($3,000 total including new clutch and pro-tuning costs). "BEAN" on clublexus.com forums and a few others are a testament to that! Sometimes you can find new parts that other persons purchased but never used = good deals. My point is that it's easier, IMHO, financially and time-wise to turbo the NA 2JZ-GE engine rather than swap in a 2JZ-GTE motor, then go single, etc. IF your power goals are above 650rwhp, then I'd recommend the 2JZ-GTE, but if not, my research says NA-T is the more convenient alternative for the common person. I agree with sc300ccret on the w58 transmission. If you're going over 400rwhp, you'd be better off with the getrag 6 speed swap too. I know a few persons that are running 400rwhp on the stock 5 speed transmission for a few years now, but DaveH told me about someone that blew their tranny at 460rwhp...so just something to keep in mind.
  8. so is this now available to us plebians of us.lexusownersclub.com?
  9. Seller purposely falsely advertised the car and tried to squeeze every dime out of the potential victim.
  10. older seals will leak synthetic oil. if you use normal oil it won't leak or drastically decrease the amount of leakage compared to synthetic oil.
  11. How about sharing the love and selling the car to me :)
