well here's what ive put together. the battery was dead when i went to visit my car at the impound lot. it rained the night before, so im guessing the idiot tow truck driver left the car not completely off. he only turned the lights from auto to off. the car's auto wipers just sat there in the rain wiping until the battery probably gave out. ive never seen such stupidity. when he put my rims into the back of the car, he ripped my seats. so insuracne is paying to have that fixed too.

So here's how it happened. I was sitting shot gun, not driving... The driver decided to punch it going downhill on a moist evening. The car started to drift. So they counter steered but when the traction kicked in, they didn't correct the steering wheel...so the right front rim slammed into the curb, and popped off and started rolling down the hill. Then the car swerved over to the other side of the road, and same thing happened on that side. Wheel broke off. There was no inpact with anyone else, any cars, any signs, nothing. It was strictly wheel on curb contact that caused all this damage. The fenders are messed up from the broken rim flopping around inside the well. The insurance adjuster said its going to cost a ridiculous 14 thousand dollars. Thank God that #1 everyone is alive and unhurt and #2 i wasn't driving so im not gonna end up paying for it =) . the street the car

the first two oil changes were free. the third one, the dealer wanted a ridiculously high ammount. so i took it to a jiffy lube a friend works at. he did it for 30 bucks. only problem is the "CHANGE OIL" light didn't turn off. i called the dealer they said, "you need to bring it in and have one of our tech's reset your computer" all that ended up being was holding down the reset button in the drop down button compartment and turning the car on and off. hardly needs a tech

i just crashed my 06 gs 430 saturday night. i was drunk, a friend was driving. he punched it on a downhill turn, the car started to drift. he countersteered turning the wheel to the right. mid-drift, the traction kicked in i guess, the wheels stopped burning and the car regained control. but the idiot neglected to correct the wheel. so the front right rim slammed into the curb. THE WHOLE *BLEEP*ING WHEEL BROKE OFF. the car then skidded to the opposite side of the road, left rim hit the curb, also broke off. stay tuned for pics and stuff. im incredibly depressed.

maybe there's a way to group them so that there can be two options. forum->all GS's or forum->GS->before '06 forum->GS->after '06 the way it is now has its ups. you get what you need faster. its just irritating reading through post after post about something that has nothing to do with my car. get all excited about someone selling some crazy new thing that wont fit my car. but on the other hand, i agree that there are far less posts right now. i put up a post asking people's opinion on what rims i should get, and ive only gotten 1 response after 4 days. before there would have been at least 10 hits.

i dunno if its my specific paint (quartz shadow metallic) or all lexus paints, but mine gets damaged VERY easily. one example, the car was dirty, and i threw a sweater onto the hood, then removed the sweater by grabbing by the corner and pulling off. it left dozens of scratches in the paint. now i understand the car was dirty blah blah blah....but cmooooon. that easy? boooooo.

seems like my original cry for change was finally put into effect! HOORAY!

yes the screen goes blank, but the audio continues to play. if the dvd is for example a Live set of a band or a concert or something like that, its just like listening to a CD.

argelius, the dealer will NEVER in a million years perform that mod on your car. anything that disables factory saftey settings is a NONO to dealers. i doubt they'll install the ipod thing either.

the post above me sounds like a vaisteck employee trying to promote their product. nothing he says is untrue though. i have it too, works great. my only compalints, i wish i could see the songs on the page in a list, not just what song is currently playing. basically a list of my songs so i can know what track 9 is while im listening to track 3. i'd also like to see firmware updates with newer features.

a friend of mine got a 07 ES, and it doesn't work because of software compatability issues. can you access the operator ovveride hidden menu comand through ur cars navigation? if no, then the mod probably wont work eitiher.

no problems on my end. everything works fine. the ipod integration kit from vaistech is even working perfectly with my whole system.

aftermarket or stock wheels? has car been lowered or anything?

Is there any way we can organize the GS forum into generations? So for example if i want to read/write posts on 2006+ i wont have to sit there and read through all the old GS's before i find what im looking for? And also, someone with say, a generation 1 wants info on their model....blah blah blah. Or maybe there's a way to look at only my gen and i dont know how to do it. Anyone know how?

i have 20's on my car and the rubbing is absolutely horrible. the rim isn't what rubs, its the tires. they're all chopped up and shredded.

you've done everyhing correctly if the screen works, the only thing is, the mod does not let you input while driving. all it does is unlock the "gray blurring" when the car is moving on the PHONE DIALING and on the DVD PLAYER. it allows you to watch a DVD while the car is in motion. to do the input, you still have to do the manual bypass. do u know hwo to do it? its posted way earlier up in this thread. to save you time scrolling up through the thread, im jsut gonna say it real quick. you can do this while the car is moving or stopped. Press menu. press the volume button. touch the top left corner of the screen, then the bottmomn left corner of the screen, then again the top left corner of the screen, then again the bottomn left corner of the screen. an operator menu should pop up. hold down the button OVERRIDE for a couple seconds. when you let it go, there should be a box around it. i think its red i dont remember. if the override button looks the same as all the other buttons, you didn't hold it down long enough. once uve done that, then press ok, or back in whatever order it offers and when you're back to your main screen, the navigation input should work while the car is moving. however once you turn the car off and back on again, everything goes back to normal, you'll have to do it all again. there's a company who claims they make something that u plug into the back of the navigation that permanently disables the navigation safetey features as well as the "I Agree" message that appears everytime u turn on the car, but ive tried contacting them several times with no response. lemme know how it goes.

Hey well i jus added tvs in my headrest to bump videos too i make them actually, and im running my PS2 to play them everyone loves it. did you have your stock headrests cut and installed or did you go with the more popular pre-made headrest with tv in it, with leather that matches your interior. could you give some suggestions on where you got the parts and how difficult the install was. im very interested in doing this too. thanks.
