  1. Get a $6 current tester and start checking the wires with power on. If there is a broken wire in the harness somewhere you’ll be able to narrow it down that way. Could also check the fuses, though in a stock configuration there aren’t many reasons why you should have this issue aside from burnt out bulbs. If changes have been made to the electrical system though like the addition of subwoofers for example, then there is the chance that something could be shorting out as a result of the modification to the stock wiring harness.
  2. Hi guys, sooooo I noticed a button in my car that gave me an insane idea, and I’ve had a few people tell me already that it can’t be done which makes me just want to do it more: I found a differential locker button on my center console. The idea now is to find out exactly how off road capable my beloved RX350 really is….. which has sent me down a rabbit hole. My stock suspension doesn’t give me much in the way of ground clearance or articulation. Due to the size of the stock wheels, I can’t just throw on some all terrain tires and call it a day because it turns out that that is not a size that is really made for that kind of tire. So in order to put that kind of tire on I need to go from 19” wheels to 20” wheels and in order to get the clearance for that I need to install a lift kit and still may wind up needing to trim the wheel wells a bit. I’m looking at between a 3 and 4 inch lift ( 2.5” lift minimum, I figure 3-4” lift will grant me some articulation as well) and what I’m wondering is since I can’t find any lift kits for my make and model can anyone point me in the direction of components from something else that will fit for what I’m trying to do? Ultimately if I can get it lifted then I plan on building it into the most unexpected off-roader/ overlanding rig anyone’s ever seen. thanks!
  3. I wouldn’t do it. Even dry you would be over stressing the engine and transmission just on flat roads, let alone going uphill with a boat behind you. I haul a utility trailer behind mine. It’s a light weight one that weighs maybe 500 lbs. with my push mower and riding mower on board with two ramps I’m probably closer to 1,000 lbs and I definitely need an extra run up for hills and getting up to speed on the highway with the trailer loaded and that’s at not even half of my rated capacity. I think you’d be inviting a dangerous situation if you went into an overload situation at more than double the rated towing weight.
  4. I bought my 2010 RX350 with 135,000 miles on it. I’ve had it four years and the most expensive single repair I had to do was a front wheel bearing that went bad at around 150,000 miles. I’m at 166,000 now and I’ve spent maybe $2000 in minor repairs in 4 years and most of that was just the cost of parts. These things are tanks, they are tow capable (Uhaul can install hitch receivers on the older ones, the dealership can do it for newer ones) with 3500 lbs of towing capacity with 1000 lbs of payload capacity. Mine came with a differential locker as well so if you’re the outdoorsy type it’s got a lot of bang for your buck. One thing to note however is that in the stock configuration I wouldn’t take it beyond maintained national park roads due to the lack of metal skid plates, but I’m finding out that that may be more easily remedied than I originally thought. Hope this helps!
