  1. I had a buddy who just completed the aristo swap on his 94 gs... He bought the car for about 4k and is going to have 15k in it including leather and rims... Plus he is replacing the turbo... He tends to go to extremes he has a supra w/ the abflug body and about 100k in it and is putting 1039hp at the wheels w/o the nos... But anyway on his GS he is putting 450hp at the wheels... From what I gather if you just want to do a simple swap you will pay about 4k for the front clip (includes tranny) and probably about 2k for someone to do the swap... Ive got an sc400 and after seeing what he did I bot me a 00 gs300 and told the wife I could drive it for another 100k miles and then swap to an almost new engine for 6k... Of course the 300-400 hp part got left out :whistles:
  2. My climate control was starting to dim on the right side and I mentioned it to my buddy as we were driving down the road and he jokingly said maybe all it needs is a good smack and he proceeded to hit it right above the cup holder and to our surprise the light when back to normal. Now if I could just get him to crawl under the car for the leak in my rear main seal! Hope this helps someone...
  3. I figured out a cheap way to fix the problem with the cloudy headlights or I should say a buddy of mine did... First get a drimel tool and a few polishing wheels and a razor blade... Take some polish and slowly work your way over the whole headlight be careful not to stay in one place to long or you can burn the headlight... The razor blade is for when the polishing wheel starts to gum up just touch it to the razor blade... For the whole job it takes about three wheels and about two hours of time... We did mine about 6 months ago and they looked brand new but about a month ago you could tell they were starting to turn again so we repolished them and then added laminx and they really look sharp now... I got the laminx from a guy up in Blue Ridge, GA and it was around $90...
  4. Try holding the lock button open while pulling the door lever... Mine did this for awhile and I took the panel off and there is a small clip on the lever wire that was broken i taped mine back together and it seems to work
  5. I chose a cheaper route... The places where my panels screwed in were cracked so much that the screws were useless... What I did was go to home depot and bought a strip of flat aluminum that was about 1in wide and about a 1/4 in thick and 4ft long... I then cut it in strips about 2-3in long and drilled holes in the pieces... Then I screwed the panels down and theyve been in place for six months now and no problems (knock on wood)... Total fix was less than 10 bucks... Hope this helps
  6. I cant help on the tilt part but as for the owners manual... Go to www.lexus.com and you can register your car and order an owners manual for FREE... Takes about a week or so and you get a nice new one in the mail. Hope this helps Keith
  7. It looks like I will be stripping these emblems down and painting them myself... I still havent heard from the guy and Ive made a point to send him a freindly reminder every day... But I figured maybe he needs a little incentive to e-mail me so I sent him an e-mail telling him that if he hasnt responded to me by tomorrow that I am going to start emailing everyone who bids on his emblems on ebay a description of mine and offering to send them a picture... Wonder if he will respond?
  8. On Ebay... I bought some of the black pearl chrome emblems for my SC400 from a guy on ebay (Ebay ID hk-plus)... I was a little worried about buying from a guy out of Hong Kong but he had good feedback and so I bought them... They were shipped to me fast and looked great and I gave a good feedback on ebay... This was about a month ago and last week I noticed the black pearl was starting to turn color and in some spots completely gone and gold showing underneath... This is w/o me washing or waxing and the only thing that could of affected it was the heavy rains here in Georgia that we had the week after I put them on... Maybe I just got the bad one of the bunch but I’ve sent the guy several emails last week and yesterday and as of today haven’t heard anything back... So buyers beware... I just wished I could go in and change my feedback... I guess now I am going to take the pieces of crap off and see if I can get them black powder coated by someone local... I plan on taking some digital pictures so if anyone wants to see them email me at hoytinthesouth@hotmail.com
  9. I just went thru this w/ my 94 sc400... Mine were in really bad shape and I found a guy on ebay who was parting his 93 out and I bought his... They were in a little better shape than mine but we ended up fixing them by first buying some epoxy (quick drying vs the ten min stuff), sheet metal shears and a small piece of sheet metal... We then cut the sheet metal to fit the places where the panel was either showing signs of weakness or had already snapped... Then we took the epoxy and smeared it over the bad places one at a time and then held the cut sheet metal to the places until they were bonded... So far its been going on about 4 weeks and no problem... Something else you may want to take a look at is the two screws underneath the armrest area... The plastic door panel slot that they go into usually break off so that there is nothing for the screws to hold the armrest section to the door panel... To fix this area we bought a piece of flat aluminum about the width of a quarter and cut it a few inches long and drilled a hole in it and screwed it down and it seems to hold the area pretty well to the door... The bottom of the door panel where the screws go in was also worn out so we cut some of the sheet metal into oblong looking washers and drilled holes in them and used them to hold the bottom of the door to the panel... Your final option is to call lexus and they are 212 for each side... The epoxy sheet metal and shears ran about 15 bucks
  10. I recently bought a 94 sc400 and had the same problem w/ the door... I bought some sheet metal and a pair of sheet metal shears and some epoxy... Cut the sheet metal to fit on the back of the door in the places that are broken and then epoxy them in... Also under the arm rest the two bolts that hold this section to the door are most likely broken and I on mine we took a piece of aluminum about the width of your thumb and a few inches long an drilled a hole in it and epoxied it so that it would hold together... Its only a been a few days but short of ordering an all new door panel this was the best alternative I could come up with
  11. Ive got a 94 sc400 and when I bought it the shifter knob was completly gone... Ive replaced the top part of the shifter knob (the part w/ the button and overdrive)... So I am still missing the bottom part and the problem I am having is when I put it in park I have to jiggle it back and forth to get the key to turn completly to remove it... Before I put the gear shift knob on the guy had the thing duck taped and it worked w/ no problem... Any Ideas on what is causing this and/or maybe where I can get a complete upper and lower shift knob... Thanks
  12. I ordered a set of brembo rotors from Nopi and the fronts went on fine w/ no problem but Ive ran into a problem w/ the rears... When I look at my old rotors it looks like the axle nut comes thru the rotor and bolts on over the rotor... The problem is the rotors that Nopi have a huge axle hole and there is no lip for the axle nut to bolt onto... I called nopi and they said send them back and I have to pay the shipping unless I can show them they are listing the wrong rotors on their site... I plan on calling Brembo but figured it wouldnt hurt to ask if anyone else has ran into this problem... Oh and I guess it would help if I mentioned my car is a 94 sc400 Here is the url for the nopi shocks http://www.nopionline.com/nopistore/dsp_pa...%20SC400%201994
  13. Pro Kit you may want to go ahead and purchase them... I recently bought a 94 sc400 and with any old car Ive started fixing it up (4,000 and counting) and wanted to lower it an inch w/ the Eibach Pro Kit springs but was having trouble finding anyone who had them in stock... Today I finally called Eibach and they said they had discontinued making them due to demand.. I mentioned to the Eibach rep that I saw on ebay a guy who was selling them for 305 w/ shipping... The Eibach rep said that may be where I have to end up buying it but he pointed out that if they were not an authorized dealer then the 1 million mile warranty would be voided... So after looking at the ebay guys feedback and weighing the no warranty I started searching the internet and then calling around... These are all the places I called all the shops here in Athens GA, plus Nopi, Directtire, Howbarmotorsports, Perfomance center, Shox.com, AJUSA and finally the guys at drivewire.com had 5 of them in stock (now four :D ) The price was 311.69 & 14.95 shipping so it only cost me about $20 for the warranty and not having to worry about some guy in hong kong shipping them out... Now I just have to get my buddy to put them on for me along w/ the new shocks... Oh and the other big thing Ive learned is dont screw up your carpet... Lexus wants 759 for new molded carpet... Thankfully I found some on ebay for 125.
