  1. After a year of searching, the end result was SO easy.... I am using the Prodigy Controller: http://www.etrailer.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?S...ategory_Code=BC The prewired adapter is 13 bucks (beleive it or not): http://www.etrailer.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?S...ategory_Code=BC The install takes 10 minutes and is a simple plug in..... Here are the instruction I got from the Land Cruiser site- I BOLDED how I did it- SO EASY! What I did instead is take all the panels off. Start by removing the horizontal plastic bezel above the steering wheel, the one that has the light dimmer in. It comes right out by pulling on it. Then (or first, I forgot, check), remove the circular trim around the ignition key slot (careful, you must turn it and pull to remove it, there are tabs that have to be aligned with slots). It should then be possible to remove the entire lower plastic panel (in front of the driver shins and knees). To do this, remove the single black screw on the very left edge, close to the door. Then remove the 4 screws holding the 2 handles for the hood and gas door. The lower plastic panel can then be removed by pulling gently, there are 4 or 5 clips holding it, all around. There will be several switches and harnesses into it. Watch out for the skinny one on the right, those wires are small. You can disconnect all the harnesses and remove the panel. Next comes the metal knee brace. It's held by 4 or 5 bolts and comes right off. After that you will clearly see the black plastic vent I mentioned earlier and maybe even the connector, in front or above it. If you don't see the connector, remove the vent conduit as described above and the connector should be visible. Again, connect your pigtail (see below) and put it all back together after checking for voltage. Now, to take advantage of this connector you'd want to plug something in. The brake adapter I listed above was a PRE-MADE to connect from the Prodigy Controller to the "Toyota" white plug. Buy a good brake controller (I got the Tekonsha Prodigy, a late generation solid state gizmo that is supposed to be top of their line and perhaps the best out there). ..... Feel Free to post this entire e-mail if you want to help other users...I towed my 5000 lb bike trailer (Enclosed) and it was a smooth as glass! BRUCE SMITH
  2. My '06 470 had the trailer brake pigtail in the glovebox, but, I ordered the factory towing pkg.. I installed an Oddessy controller by splicing the Oddessy loom to the pig tail. Then i made a removable mount that replaces the Fuse Box cover when I need to tow. Works great and is completely reversable (no holes drilled in the dash) Brett, I am lost on the mount for the fuse box cover......WHAT fuse box are you referring to....Are you saying the Prodigy is NOT reachable during driving (FOr Ex. To manually apply more break pressure by hand on controller).... I ahve not found the pigtail under dash---Gave up on this last summer- but bike week in coming, I have all the parts, and determined this time. Any ideas on removing lower dash panel and steering column plastic? Bruce investorsc@aol.com
  3. Fish, Tell me more? Are you sure that is not the LIGHT controller? If you look into the fuse box under the hood, there is a fuse location for trailer brakes. E-trailer.com claims to have a "Pigtail" that plugs into the fctory harness (I bought one). I cannot find the location under the dash where the power from that fuse comes, nor the wire back to the 7-pin connector for the trailer for electric brakes. C'mon guys- there has to be SOMEONE out there with an LX that has a trailer with brakes and has installed a controller. You can e-mail me direct with ANY ideas or info at investorsc@aol.com Many, Many thanks! Bruce fish
  4. We have an '05 LX-470 with trailer towing package from factory. We want to pull a 2 bike motorcycle trailer (Haulmark Edge) that has elec. brakes. Called 3 different dealers with NO result in help installing a brake controller for trailer. "05 has the right trailer plug- need to know where to tap into Brake + wire to trailer connector, Brake Signal to activate controller, and best place for Bat+ to supply the controller. Anyone who has installed one of these please help......Vacation is fast approaching, and Bikes are ready ! Thanks, BRUCE investorsc@aol.com
  5. I read the thread on the DVD view hack. We had the XM installed Friday (Works great- but you can't see the channel title as your are scanning or surfing until AFTER you make the selection- unless I am missing something). Chrome wheel exchange will happen this week on our '05 LX470. My question is this: We did not decide to buy the rear seat entertainment since very seldom does someone else go with us. I put a DVD into the console changer, and it played the audio part of the disc, but the "picture" icon was greyed out and not accessible. Are we able to do DVD playback thru the front monitor if we do not have the RSES? I was ready to do the "View in motion" hack, when the basic function of video viewing didn't work while stopped! Thanks for your help in advance! BRUCE
  6. Hi all..... Our new LX has the night nision, but I would like to do 3 things to it: -Add factory wheels in chrome (IS there an exchange place?) -Add XM Radio (Is there a less than "List" cost method for this?) - Have the factory DVD Entertainment system added to our vehicle (Again- Can we get this for less than LIST?) Any ideas...Thanks in advance, Bruce investorsc@aol.com
