  1. Need some help here from someone dealt with this before. I still have a brake light warning on dash board (the one which turns on when you apply brakes if you have faulty lights). The thing is I have ALL brake lights functioning now after I replaced the 3d upper small bulb. I did try to reset a battery for 10 minutes and it is still coming on. I am due for MA inspection sticker. Is it going to be a problem on OBDII? I have my friendly mechanic who would ignore this stuff. Thanks for help. 00' Lexus RX300 AWD 110K mi.
  2. I’m looking to move into a Porsche and I am putting a feeler out there on my incredibly LOW miles (9500mi) One owner Tungsten Pearl on Black Perforated leather with Navigation. Fully equipped including All-Wheel Drive, Xenon Lights, Navigation, Rear Back-Up Monitor, Blue Tooth, Upgraded Wood Interior, keyless entry , Heated and Cooling Seats and much more! All keys and books. Full Venture Shield paint protection ($1400). Pressure monitoring system. Full Lexus Warranty until April 2011. Always Lexus dealer serviced. Never abused. Never tracked or modified. Never parked the car next to other cars. Hand washed with best Zaino wax fanatically. Rubber mats ($140) and extra trunk mat ($160). I could do the next 10k service for the next owner for free! No price is low enough these days, but hey, if you are in the market and can find a better deal on a 2007 IS AWD NAV in great condition with low miles, go buy it. Thanks for looking. I look forward to your thoughts and feedback: ishikh@gmail.com Pictures: http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/F2nSH...feat=directlink Car is located in Newton MA 02459
  3. I recently replaced my bad battery into a nice Interstate one. While jump start my RX300 to get to the shop I put reverse cable from my donor IS. :( Big spark. Nothing too bad. Reconnected in a correct way. No problem, no fuse blown, everything appear to be fine. While running alternator shows around normal 14.5v. On the next day: CEL turned ON. My guess that my recent "reversal" or recent filer/oil replacement would some how related to CEL. I am going to check for codes tomorrow. Any clues, please? My car is 2000 RX300 with 110k Thanks in advance.
  4. I am thinking of buying 140,000mi 2000 GS300 with excellent Dealer's records. Single owner, Florida white. Price is around $6.8k What do you guys think? I need a beater car (sorry) for bad weather when I don't want to drive my Porsche. What to look for PPI?? Thanks a lot.
  5. Just would like to add to the all good thing said above since I am from Russia originally. I used know how to handle snow with bold tires, ugly 4 speed stick and rear drive. Here are my cure for snow: 1. Driving skill. Everything is slooow. No torque, no jerky turns. "Snow" mode does it for you almost. 2. Traction. Keep your wheels with good tread. Winter profiles with proper rubber compound is a good thing. 3. If you don't meet with the first 2 requirements then AWD will not help. zero traction times 4 is still zero. 4. Practice and practice!! Go to the big open field and play. Try to control the car Be safe!
  6. The only advantage of Audi A4 in my humble opinion is an option for 6MT. It could be make a nice combo of 4 doors, AWD, 3.2l engine and 6MT. Lexus has big advantages in resale value and reliability. All other aspects like AWD, styling, trek time, or 0-60 times are personal in nature. If you want Audi buy year old and save big. You can actually get 05' S4 which is by far outstanding car except a gas millage.
  7. I just had my rattle fixed on 07 IS250 and now my NAVI got screwed up after they reassembled console. It shows entirely a different location. It moves but not where I want to. Apparently there is a tsb for 06s for the same problem but not 07s. I am going to leave a car for a day for an "investigation" Any thoughts???
  8. Passion4jdm, Did you have Dunlops or Bridgestones? I will check my wife's IS tomorrow in Boston having very steep driveway. I have set of snow tires for my Audi but it doesn't fit Lexus.
  9. Hey Clay1, I just got my 07 IS250 rattle fixed at Lexus of Watertown. Not really good place but very close. When I got a car back my NAV got confused showing a wrong location. They might need to order a special CD to get it fixed (another tsb). I agree about materials and technology. My first LS400 was the best in terms of quality. But as you going to stiffer suspensions it is harder to keep noise down on ugly Boston roads. My Audi S4 V8 is probably an exception but it is in a different category. What dealer do you get your IS serviced?
  10. VentureShield is one of the best product out there. Many high end dealers stopped using 3M for many reasons. I installed initially on my all front end including headlights and fog lights. Always waxed it just like a regular paint. Yes, you would have to use a brush to get some residual wax off. Not a biggi. I actually had sample rolls for thicker 11-14 mills sheets from a manufacture. So I installed more to the rear bumper since I am in Boston. I even put it on my race bike. Looks so impressive and protective. It is a lot of labor even with precuts to make it bubble and wrinkle free. Go fo it. It is a good investment.
  11. I bought my IS 250AWD in Westwood. I tried to do same pre purchase internet with remote dealers. Since I needed to trade my S4 it wasn't straight forward. Typically if you can get below $35k with NAV it would be good especially with clearing 07's. For the long terms more than 4 years it doesn't meter if you pay more for 08 model in November. Around 10% under MSRP is not bad. Try the end of the month and NOT in weekends. Since my Audi's S4 04 value was close I just ended up paying $600 more and they threw rubber mats. In New England IS350 wouldn't have better value then AWD250 given weather, bad roads, and just honestly not too many places to appreciate bigger engine. I have many Porsches under 240HP and there is no way that just having extra 50-60HP would give something extra. I was so frustrated with my last ultimate all weather S4 with V8 not being able to fully OPEN up. It had no limits. On 6th gear on highway I could push a bit a get 130mhp at no time feeling as if everybody was standing. Scary sometimes. And of cause 11mpg is not very efficient for commuting.
  12. The best "mod" is to go to DRIVING SCHOOL. That would be a good investment for your dad too.
  13. If someone has personal attachment to Honda product I would recomment a TSX instead of TL. It is much better built in Japan and not in Ohio. So you can actually find good loooking even gaps in sheet metal. Also it is very loveble small front wheel drive toy not trying to pretend to fight 0-60 or have a big torque. So we are all agree that IS belong to different category comparing to TL as far as refinment, resale value, and emotonal total satisfaction. Just to be fare I enjoyed driving old style TL-type S given it was a good value for $29k. I only wished that it was a rear wheel drive with manual.
  14. Lexus GS and especially GS430 have been one of the best cars in the world. Nothing comes close to Lexus V8 and outstanding resale value. Lexus kept basic design for 8 years. I deeply respect somebody's passion to his car whatever it is. Discussions about "handling" and "appearance" will never be settled.
  15. I assume you drove them both and yet still wondering. Here is my humble opinion: Lexus has been much superior in terms of quality of materials, great resale values, and elegant perfection in many details. G35 has advanced a bit in terms of recent years in terms of look and performance even though Ms or especially old Qs are still way behind any Lexus GS or LS. Since both IS and G35 sedan are not 6MT then any true sport enthusiast would not consider them to be genuine sport cars. G37 coupe in 6MT is getting closer. So for that reason I picked AWD in Boston in place of a bigger engine. G35 has bigger rear seats. AWD system has intelligence with switching RWD is a plus even though it is very gas hungry. I was not impressed with G35's auto trany. Too many gear changes. 350's engine is very sweet and flat curved. Perhaps it is too quite. Ask dealers on actions: which car would they prefer? You can buy 06 G35 for almost $25k. That is almost $10k depreciation for the first year! This is your decision and be happy whatever you have got.
