  1. Well, After testing wire and switches, it seems the only way to go is to have a constant "on" lead. I picked the power to the driver side vanity mirror light on the sunvisor. I just turn the V1 on when I want it and off(hopefully) when I stop at my destination. It is a really clean way to have a radar setup, but ignition on/off would be the best. If anyone figures out a way, please, let us know. It'd be very easy to change. Thanks, Alberto LEXBOAT
  2. Hello Gentlemen, The stereo install continues. Today, I'm wrapping up the dash and glove box. I also wanted to hard wire my V1 radar detector up near the rear view mirror. I need to tap into a ignition on/off power lead up in the power sunroof contol area. Anyone ever done this? Any info on which wire to look for? All the ones I've tested are on continuous or power on when the sunroof motor runs. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Alberto
  3. Could not find it in help or posting info. Thanks.
  4. Things are progressing with the stereo project. Thought you might like to see some pics. Thanks to LEXLS, Rick at Raam audio, and others on the board for their solutions to install problems. I’ll post again later as I finish things up. Alberto(LEXBOAT) Guess I need to learn how to post a pic See the pics at: http://s178.photobucket.com/albums/w247/albikes/
  5. Gentlemen, I've done the research by taking the door panels off and measuring the mounting depth for the front and rear door speaker enclosures. They are right at two(2) inches of depth for each box. The front door boxes can be modified to accept 5.25” diameter speakers. Using a spacer ring will give the speaker support and extra depth needed, but no more than 0.5” in order to get the door panel back on correctly. The rear door speaker boxes CANNOT be modified for depth nor diameter. They are shaped in a way where the top of the box edge wraps around the speaker for a good 280-300 degrees. So, I’ve made speaker choices and will put two-way separates in the doors, with the rear tweeter mounted on the door panel, below the armrest, towards the front. I will paint the grill and mount to match the leather. Here they are: Front Speakers: DLS UP5 http://www.dls.se/pdf/specup5.pdf under the Ultimate Series 2/3way systems Rear Speakers DLS PS4 http://www.dls.se/english/index.htm under the Reference Series 2/3way systems The rest of the system is as follows: Head Unit: Alpine CDA-9857 http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/p...ng=en&tab=F or Eclipse CD7100 http://www.eclipse-web.com/cd/cd7100overviews.html Full Range Amplifier: Alpine PDX-4.150 http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/p...ng=en&tab=F or JL Audio 300/4 http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_amps.php?amp_id=254 Subwoofer Amplifier: For one single 10” sub mounted in a sealed enclosure under the rear deck where the stock 8” woofer is. http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseac...product_id=4455 . JL Audio 250/1 http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_amps.php?amp_id=251 or JL Audio 500/1 http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_amps.php?amp_id=252 or Memphis Car Audio 16MCD500 http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseac...Product_ID=2615 Signal Control Equalizer: Audio Control EQS Six Channel Trunk Mount http://mobileaudiocontrol.com/product.asp?...l1=5250&l2= I will sound insulate EVERYWHERE with Dynamat Xtreme. The whole trunk, gas tank, trunk lid, rear deck, doors outer and inner skin will be covered. The system will look completely stock , except for the deck, from inside and out and I will not be loosing any usable storage space in the trunk. Should be fun. I ‘m doing the install myselfas I don’t want any monkeys !Removed! something up :chairshot: . That job is for me. Alberto LEXBOAT

  7. Hello Gentlemen, It's time for me to upgrade the speakers. I've had the front two mid-bass go out and replaced them with cheapo Kragen Supply 4"'ers. It has worked, but I'd like to get a better sound going. To make my decision, I'm looking at depth requirements. I think I'll do the slight mod to get 5.25" components in, but I'm not sure of depth. Does anyone have this spec handy for the front and rear door speaker boxes? It's much appreciated. Thank you, Alberto LEXBOAT
  8. I'll buy it and pay shipping. I'm in North Bay CA. Thanks for the help. Alberto '90 LS400 195k mi :whistles:
  9. Hello Board Members, I’m a new-to-me ’90 LS400 owner. I’ve been lucky to get my Dad’s for $1k. It’s got 200k on the clock and some of the annoying electrical and A/C problems have recently been fixed. I’m writing because I saw in posts that some have upgraded suspension bushings as bought from Daizen. I like this idea as I’m sport minded with two BMW’s and a Honda F4i in the garage. How much more noise is transmitted with the polyurethane bushings? Are bumps harsh in feel or sound? Well, thanks for your posts on the board. I’ve learned a lot. You all helped me make the decision to step up to the LS. I look forward to getting the ol’ 400 up to speed in the months ahead.
