Sounds like an 02 sensor issue if anything. Did you ever get this sorted? -
That's probably your instant MPG readout. It raises when you let off the gas and lowers when you're on the gas. If you press the "INFO" button, you can change the mpg display to average, or set it to display trip time. Holding the INFO button will reset the counters. Hope that helps!
