  1. Never mind, I got it. There is a plastic clip, top and bottom, and a dab of glue in the middle.
  2. Can anyone give me some advice on removing a piece of cladding? I want to remove the small piece just ahead of the rear tire, for painting. There are two screws, but there is something more holding it. Do I just pry it off? I don't want to break anything. Thanks.
  3. They're supposed to be exact replicas of the OEM wheels on a 2005 LS430. They are going on a 1999 LS400. Supplier says original lug nuts will fit. Those would be LS430 nuts. LS400 nuts are different. There are 2 kinds of nuts available from Rockauto for LS 430, flat seat and cone seat. I suspect that these take flat seat nuts, but I thought I should check here before I order.
  4. Can anyone tel me what kind of lug nuts are required for 18" 5 spoke ls430 wheels? Are they "flat seat" or "cone seat"? Thanks!
  5. Update: I called Toyota for an estimate. They won't work on it, too old. I'm taking it to a well regarded local independent garage next Thursday.
  6. The Lexus dealer is more than an hour away. Toyota is 10 miles and they will take me home after I drop the car off.
  7. My wife inherited her Dad's 99 LS400, and our plan is to keep it and use it. It's a nice car, and with light use and proper care it should last us forever (if we don't crash it) It's coming up on timing belt replacement time and we don't have a Lexus dealer in our town. So, our choices for service are the local Toyota dealer or an independent garage. Toyota might be better working on a Lexus, but If their mechanics are accustomed to only servicing nearly new cars maybe an independent would be better. What would you do?
  8. Thanks Paul. The speedo and tach both read 0 until I tap the dash with my palm. It seem odd that tapping the dash would cause it to read if the problem is at a sensor on the tranny. but I'm willing to try it as I haven't heard of any other potential fix. Thanks again
  9. Can anyone here tell me where the speed sensor is? Where to find both ends? I've looked on youtube and only found shaky useless videos. I'm interested in the one that controls the tach & speedo. Thanks
