  1. The 90-91 LS used a one piston caliper, in 92-94, they upgraded to two piston calipers (93's got bigger rotors, if im not mistaken). In 95, Another upgrade to 4-piston calipers..... So they are much bigger then the 1st gen brakes. ← thanks grand and i havent forgot about you its just that things area little uncertain right now with all thatsgoing on in the US
  2. he is right b/c there is no way you can evacuate all the r-12 out of the whole system and somewhere down the road you might have problems again. it sounds like you have a leak tough get a a/c shop to find the leak and just keep the old system which gets colder faster anyway. the reason why they switch to 134 is b/c its more enviorment friendly not b/c its better
  3. Thanks sk for the good explanation.
  4. when was the work done and how long has the vsc been on?on my 98 whenever you disconnect anything under the hood and plug it back up the vsc light comes on but after a few start ups and driving it usually goes off. dont worry almost anything can make that light come on
  5. thanks i was just looking at my drivers seat today and thinking of a cure
  6. I ask b/c i want to do this mod in the future but i don't want my car to be like VROOOOOM whenever I accelerate. I know losing the resonators will take away some of the sound dampening ,but how much?
  7. all you have to do is right click the page and scroll down to translate to english. all the things that have 10fzf by it are for the first generation ls. you also need a currency converter to know how much money in us dollars. pretty good stuff on that site
  8. Wouldn't the car be a little louder if you removed the #2 resonators?
  9. some pics please
  10. also car-parts.com
  11. just taking off the cap wont do any harm but if your not going to this yourself def. dont go to the dealer. the guys in this forum will give you some good advice and with that knowledge you can go to a regular shop to get the work done, just make sure the shop has a good reputation
  12. that means the 98 calipers are bigger than his and i def. dont want to add spacers. but i did check that rim out on a site and they had it in a list of wheels that would fit my car but in 18s i thought it was bugged b/c they didnt have it in 19. ill ask the guy if he uses any spacers if not im patient ill just keep looking. by theway what do you guys think of the staggered setup on the ls. sw your opinion is always welcome
  13. you def. have to be in a certain range to use a remote key and i also doubt across a cell X amount of distance away is close enough
  14. ok maybe i shouldnt have said guess, but thats all anyone can do without physically seeing the car and running some checks. most advice you can get on a forum is an educated guess due to someone elses experience. anyway your right sk start the car after you have popped the hood and look in the engine compartment and see if it start to smoke again. smoke like that under the hood usually means something is burning and more than likely in my experience it can be a wire that is shorted to ground somewhere near the smoke since there is so much electrical stuff in there. is there any leaking fluids near the smoke. make sure to look at the engine compartment very carefully b4 you even start the car. with a problem like that it should be pretty evident. is your check engine light on?check all this out and get back to us.
  15. thats a 19in staggered setup, but i think hes running a bigger tire than what is recommended. i think chrome would be better also but i could do the polished look
  16. it sounds more like a short circuit to me if it happened as soon as you started up a clogged fuel filter will not cause the engine to smoke upon starup and neither will the maf sensor. either you have a wire touching ground somewhere near the smoke or your engine is overheating. just a guess though
  17. thanks for you honest opinion sw, hey sk as you must already know since you have the pic of the car im talking to the guy about possibly buying that rim but he said that it hassome kind of damga and im not quite sure if itsworth the trouble. the price is good though
  18. all you have to do is go in the gs forum and do a search on all of these questions and more than likely you will get all the answers. dont give up so quick
  19. nc i see in your sig.that you havent change the wheel bearings. you have so many new parts that they may be putting stress on the old bearings. when they go bad you can usually feel it in turns. the wheel might wobble on the hub. just jack the car up and grab the wheel on thetop and bottom and push it in and out to see if there is any play, if there is you need to change them
  20. thats funny b/c im looking at some rims for naext spring and most people recom. 20s for the look and 18s if i want to keep a quality ride. im thinking of going with 19s b/c the 18s loo too small. what do you guys thin?
  21. might have better luck in the rx forum
  22. any shop you take it to will charge you the same like you said most of the bill will be for labor. 300 is cheap compared to some shops that charge close to 5-600 for front and back. def. find an indie brakes are not a hard job to do especially when you have a lift. also check to make sure your rotor are good b/c if thy are bad then it doesnt make sense to put new pads on they will wear unevenly
  23. i also went and it was really nice
  24. This is exactly what i want to do, let me know what happens. It does looklike you can cut the part that curves up and then down off the muffler, get some tips with enough pipe on it to reach where you cut the old one and just have a shop weld it on.
  25. your right dont do it. im not ready for those big a*** payments either so ill just try to get some new shocks and springs with a little drop and hope for the best.
