  1. The links are all jacked up in my other post. Drill down to your vehicle year and look in the electrical category. Any starter you get is most likely going to be remanufactured, even the one from the dealer from what I've read when I was looking for mine. http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000C5YDC4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  2. Yeah this really sounds like the starter going out. The good news is that there are plenty of tutorials to help you change it out if you decide to go that route. If your not mechanically inclined buy the remanufactured Denso starter from http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000C5YDC4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 <a data-ipb="nomediaparse" data-cke-saved-href="http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php%20or%C2%A0http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000C5YDC4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1%20check%20a%20couple%20of%20shops%20to%20see%20what" href="http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php%20or%C2%A0http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000C5YDC4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1%20check%20a%20couple%20of%20shops%20to%20see%20what" s%20the%20best%20price%20you%20can%20get.%20try%20to%20find%20and%20indie%20mechanic%20who%20has%20some%20experience%20working%20on%20lexus="" toyotas."="">check a couple of shops to see what's the best price you can get. Try to find and indie mechanic who has some experience working on Lexus/Toyotas.
  3. Do you have a 94 or 97? http://www.lexussouthatlantaparts.com/products/THERMOSTAT-THERMOSTAT-WAX-TYPE-OPENING-TEMPERATURE---FULLY-OPEN-TEMPERATURE-82-95-L-WAX-TYPE-OPENING-TEMPERATURE---FULLY-OPEN-TEMPERATURE-82-95-L-ENGI/9928258/90916A3003.html
  4. No problem and I Think the hid headlights had something to do with it.
  5. Seems like someones acct has been hacked.
  6. I def see what you are talking about. I guess over time the gear sometimes does not come all the way out. I forget what that particular part is called but I did feel like waiting for it since the only place tat had it was the dealer. I know a shop could have did the rebuild but that would have defeated the whole DIY thing and the consesus was that it would cost as much as a reman starter.
  7. Congrats on getting it all back together and fired up. I know what it means to get frustrated. I started off the summer with the timing belt, water pump job with the intention of doing my cam seals at the same time. i took me a whole week and lots of head scratching mainly because the cam seals on the 98 and up can't be changed unless you remove the cams. That was a real scary experience for me but landar came in and gave me lots of encouragement. The TB teardown was pretty straight forward for the most part though. I was thinking about my starter the whole time but did not feel like adding that on since the cams were giving me fits, mainly because I could not find any real world how-to explaining it precisely. I ended up just doing exactly what the FSM ( factory service manual ) said to do plus read bits and pieces of tips from other owners with VVT-I engines. Mainly IS and GS models. I promised landar I would do a proper write up for the VVT-I cam seals when I get the chance though. I ordered the starter from Amazon because it was 3pm and I needed it the next day. Since I have prime it was only like an extra $9 and it was in my hands 10 the next morning. That's why I get all I can from Amazon and if there's a problem I can send it right back with no problem.
  8. I have to agree with landar on reusing critical gaskets but others have reused the manifold gaskets with success so I took my chances. I did that bump test and everything looked good. The starter gear popped out and spinned like it was engaging the flywheel but once installed it would just spin. Lesson learned, the just replace the contacts method does not always work.
  9. Are you talking about the 2 orange lights on the side of the fender? I deleted those years ago when I put a custom bumper on. If you are talking about the lights right next to the headlights they are only for turn signals and hazzards they don't stay on with the headlights.
  10. Yeah I would not re-use the coolant bridge gaskets unless they are in near perfect shape which I doubt. I just recently changed mine out on my 98 also and while it was difficult the first time, it was a breeze when I had to pull it off again immediately because just changing out the contacts did not work. It would spin but not engage the flywheel. I just got a reman Denso from Amazon and called it a day. I would rate the TB job more difficult just because you have to keep track of so many parts and it's time consuming. I did lift the manifold as one piece and reused the gasket since it looked to be in good shape. If it does not hold I'll just order new ones and pop it off and back on.
  11. Do you mean that the hazards work in the front but when you signal to turn the front signal does not work? If so I think there would be a problem with the stalk on the steering wheel.
  12. Sorry to hear about the expense but glad that you got it working. I just hope your not back at the tranny shop in 90/180 days once the warranty is up. That's just my with a trans shop with another vehicle
  13. I removed the upper and lower manifold with fuel rails as one piece. There are 3 10mm bolts on each side, 2 nuts in the front and 2 in the back. It is heavy and I struggled trying to find the right angle the first time but the second time was a breeze since I knew how to lift it up and sit it on the studs that the 4 nuts screw onto. I actually got under the hood and crouched on shock tower and radiator support to get leverage to lift it.
  14. The wires should be cheaper than the coil. I would change the wires out first but wait till it's dark out and turn the car on and look at the pinched wires to see if there is any arcing from the wires.
  15. I removed the manifold as one piece and reused the gasket. I did not replace the knock sensors. If they go bad later this job is so easy ( I removed the manifold twice because I only replaced the contacts the first time and the bench test showed good but when i put it all back together the starter would spin but not engage ) I'll just pop the manifold off and be done in 30-40 minutes. I ordered this from amazon with next day shipping and had it at 11am. I am a prime member. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000C5YDC4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  16. Your basically dumping too much fuel into the engine and the ECU is trying to compensate therefor triggering the code 25. Since you changed the throttle and MAF sensor I would check the O2 sensors to see if they are within spec as well as Plugs, wires amd coils. Something in your fuel management is not working correctly but it should not be too hard to figure out.

  18. I had a bad coil on my 91 and it drove ok but would shake like crazy at a stop light. This likn will show you how to pull codes. http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/intro/codereading.html
  19. The check engine light should be on if it's that bad. Pull the codes and post them up.
  20. If the car is not throwing any tranny codes then the only way to really check it is to open it up. I would drop the pan and check the filter as well as Google like crazy before thinking of a rebuild or junkyard tranny.
  21. How does your tranny fluid look when you check it at the dipstick?
  22. Well if it's not the timing then you have to make sure all hoses and connectors are on correctly and the battery has a proper charge.
  23. Just spray some lithium grease on it and tap it lightly with a mallet from all sides until you see it move.
  24. Yeah just google lexus ls 400 speedometer not working/dead.
  25. Can we get a pic from a little farther away to get some perspective on the placement of the leak?
