  1. Or try this one. Might be an airbag light. https://www.manualowl.com/am/Lexus/1996-LS%20400/Manual/6059
  2. Probably a brake light. http://www.aa1car.com/library/warning_lights_lexus.jpg
  3. Wow that is crazy! I saw rockauto had a beck/Arnley with the same part number but I don't know if they ship to your area.
  4. Great that you got on this so quick and found what "seems" to be the problem. Most ppl that pop in here would have wasted lots of time posting more questions when the answers/suggestions were already given. The pump should not be that difficult to change so let us know how it goes. Did your mechanic come out to you or did you have it towed? And how did he determine it was the pump? Just curious.
  5. The car does not have to be running to have/check a code. I'm pretty sure you have one with the description that you provided. It can be several things so It makes no sense to guess. What was the temp outside when this happened and was the car fully warmed up?
  6. Welcome, is your check engine light? If so you will need to borrow/buy a cheap code reader and get back to us with the codes since your car will not start. If it were mobile I would tell you to go to autozone and they would read your codes for free and give you a printout. How many miles do you have on the odometer?
  7. Well I'm going with the ones I posted since I changed them myself back in May. I got them from the lexus dealer. That 90311-71001 is cross referenced with 90311-A0004 on the lexus site. http://www.lexussouthatlantaparts.com/products/LEXUS/1999/LS4004000CC-32-VALVE-DOHC-EFI--AUTOMATIC-5-SPEEDSEDAN/SEAL--OIL-FOR-CAMSHAFT-SETTING-SEAL--TYPE-T-OIL-L/9928096/90311A0004.html The 90311-95012 is a part number for a rear crankshaft seal so I would ignore it. The 90311-71002 seal is for later year vehicles. Mainly the 4.3L and 4.7L engines.
  8. Wow now that's dedication that I can appreciate. I hate when there is something that I can't figure out. I went almost a whole year trying to figure out an issue with my sun roof. I practically removed the whole interior in the process but it was well worth it in the end.
  9. Here is a pic with part number of the seal that you need. I also posted a pic of the first seal they sent me which was way too small next to the correct seal so I understand your confusion. I had to go to the dealer and pay $30 a seal to get the job done. It seems like the beck/arnley one on rock auto is a match
  10. Let us know what you find. This is usually not a difficult issue to diagnose or solve. Everyone has given you great advice.
  11. The first thing to come to mind is that your coolant level is too low so you should definitely check that before going any farther. When I have my heater on that low I really don't feel the heat so I keep it up around 80. If those suggestions don't help I would think that your thermostat is stuck in the open position and might think about changing it.
  12. Like in this thread??? http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls400/767815-is-this-the-sunroof-drain-tube-in-trunk.html
  13. Yes that was me landar but I got the ideal from another post somewhere from another person who was having trouble getting the belt on without the cams moving. I loosened the tensioner until it was hanging on by maybe a thread or two, then lined my belt up and carefully tightened the tensioner back while keeping an eye on the belt to make sure things stayed lined up. That was back in May/June. When I started the TB job and took the original tensioner off I realized that the last guy that changed the belt only put 1 bolt back in the tensioner instead of 2 and we re-used the original tensioner as well as everything else. I only purchased the belt the first time.
  14. Did not see the last post. So are you good to go?
  15. I would just start over. Don't put it back together and don't get frustrated. You have all the help you need right here, especially with randal on the job lol. Good thing your in Cali, at least you can still work in some reasonable weather depending on what part your located.
  16. i would think that it would still start even if the timing is off.
  17. Yeah forget about that one. It clearly looks like the hood has been bent. On my old 91 I forgot to slam the hood shut and while I was driving the hood came up and smacked my windshield. cracked windshield and bent hood was the end result.
  18. Good luck on the tinkering.
  19. Both sites are equally useful.
  20. I actually used this to torque the crank bolt back on. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000F5JMEA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  21. I have one of those puller sets from autozone and none of the bolts fit correctly either. I think i just forced the standard bolts as far as they could go since they seemed to be the closest fit.
  22. The front could be a lil lower but I can live with it. These springs and shocks are new so coils are out for now.
  23. I would say rent the pitman arm puller and be done with it. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-second-generation/432450-replacing-outer-tie-rod-pics.html
  24. The 40 is not that bad over the road it's a bit jarring over the bigger bumps in the road though.
  25. LOL we wait for the new fob to come Billy.
