  1. I think the dealer is pulling your foot since this seems to be a common problem that many owners have complained about.
  2. Make sure you check the vin and see if the special service campaign for the oil consumption/piston ring issue has been taken care of by the dealer. That model year seems to have been plagued with the issue of burning oil and if the service has not been performed by now you might be out of luck if you decide to purchase since I think Lexus is only honoring it for 9 years after the build date.
  3. I don't know anyone personally but I'm guessing anyone that repairs computer boars should be up to the task. Lots of ppl ask this same question in that thread.
  4. I have the black interior and it does get hot but I'm putting some tints on this summer after 12 years.
  5. That just doesn't sound right.
  6. Just put some good quality tints on it.
  7. The best course would be to buy the caps and either do it yourself or have a qualified person do it for you. There is a big thread over on the other forum in the LS section.
  8. LH is the drivers side and RH is the passenger side. Both sensors are right before the catalytic converters. Get underneath the car and look toward the back of both front wheels. You might have to remove the engine undercover.
  9. This thread is 7 years old so I think they got it figures out long ago.
  10. That's great that it was something simple.
  11. Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the club.
  12. I think 1600 is a bit high. My cold start idle is about 1200rpms.
  13. I guess they figure most ppl wont understand the print out anyway.
  14. Care to post your before and after alignment specs?
  15. I hear ebay is a good place to look.
  16. Thanks Kansas I was trying to figure out this same issue on my wifes 2010.
  17. Congrats on the pickup and it looks like the infinity protected your wife really good.
  18. Glad you came back with more info. Did you happen to take pics of the damaged contacts?
  19. Glad that you seem to be heading for a solution. They make a spray that will clean the alternator up if you want to try that first. It's sold in any auto parts store. I can't remember the name of it right now but I used it to clean mines up last summer.
  20. If fluid level is correct and the fluid is still red and not brown/black then most likely you need a new transmission mount. When you change the mount the old one will probably fall apart, especially after 20+ years and 200k miles. The good news is that the part is cheap and you can change it yourself. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls400/450071-diy-engine-and-transmission-bushings-replacement.html
  21. Not really much you can do. It's a big and heavy car. You can upgrade the brake lines and choose better pads. Some ppl have upgraded the calipers to the Supra ones but the LS calipers are more than sufficient for the job already. Try flushing the old fluid if it's never been changed. Edit: I see landar gave very good advice already.
  22. i hope you get it sorted out. So the car is running but all those lights stay on? The wire harness that runs along the trunk has been known to cause issues like you described.
  23. Could be but most likely related to your O2 (Oxygen) sensor. https://www.google.com/search?q=lexus+code+25&oq=lexus+code+25&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l5.6037j0j4&sourceid=chrome&es_sm=119&ie=UTF-8
  24. Come back and let us know what you find out.
