  1. Welcome and congrats on the purchase. If the power steering pump is leaking fix that ASAP so it doesn't take out your alternator. You can fix the body damage at your leisure as it won't affect drivability. There is a guy that can fix your lcd, just "Google Lexus lcd fix" and you should be able to find him. I would also make changing the timing belt a priority. Flush ALL fluids so you are starting with a clean slate unless you know that they have been changed already. You can sign up for a free membership at the Lexus drivers website and put the Vin #of the car in there and if it has been serviced at the Lexus dealership all records will show up.
  2. If your going to rebuild the calipers I suggest you do them all at the same time. I had a stuck piston on the passenger side this past summer so I ended up buying new front rotors and pads all around as well. The rebuild kits are really inexpensive, probably like $20 for all 4. The hardest part is getting the seals back on the Pistons on the front calipers since the space is tight in there.
  3. No that's not what he means. That V8 is one of the reasons the car is so great. It sounds like you have made up your mind though so good luck on your next vehicle purchase.
  4. Code 25 & 26 point to possibly failing O2 sensors and the 41 is probably there since you adjusted the TPS. It could also be the famous ECU caps issue. How long have you had these codes and how long has the car been running bad?
  5. No you have to depress the clip at the bottom of the pic to release the box. It is very difficult because after so many the plastic gets very hard and doesn't have the flexibility that it used to have.
  6. I remember that procedure as I used it some years ago. Thanks for the repost though.
  7. This is why you should research ANYTHING before you purchase it. I truly hope the OP can get this worked out so he/she can get to appreciate all the good things about the car.
  8. Seems like that company did not test it thoroughly although it could very well be the connectors. Did they give you an option to send it back?
  9. If it was built 12/94 it is indeed a 95. You need post a better picture of those dash lights.
  10. Yes plz get a code reader. The 95 is OBD2. Once you have the codes post them up here and we'll try to figure out what's really going on
  11. I know I'm late but if you would have broke the window the alarm would not go off unless you opened the door. Then you could have just popped the trunk release. I've locked my keys in the trunk before but with the doors unlocked and the trunk release in the lock position. I just removed the cover for the trunk release and energized the circuit with wire and a 9 volt battery.
  12. Old post but You should flush the brakes at least every two years.
  13. Did you check the fluid level after the car has warmed up and been driven for a while?
  14. Sorry to hear about your wife. I actually did in home hospice for my mom earlier this year. We're lost her in February and its been tough but getting better ever since. Working on the car is your way of coping and I do the same thing so don't feel bad.
  15. You just have to remove the engine undercover and remove the all the 10mm bolts on the pan. Take your time because those bolts have a tendency to snap. You will have to use some kind of pry tool to separate the lower pan from the upper pan. The FIPG they use at the factory holds it on the there real good. Make sure when putting the pan back on that you don't over torque the bolts because it's easy to strip the threads in the upper pan.
  16. I would just leave the battery disconnected longer and see what happens.
  17. Moved to the correct forum.
  18. It's already been called every name in the book.
  19. I read on here or the other sight that the starter was placed in the valley to properly balance the engine. Who knows but it makes it pretty inconvenient to replace.
  20. Those links are to Generation 1 LS 400s (89-94) you have a Gen 2 LS (95-00). You have to remove the intake manifold to get to the knock sensors. It states this in the repair manual and from my own experience changing out the starter which is where both sensors are located I don't see how you would remove them without removing the intake manifold. I don't know how they accomplished it on the Gen 1 but the designs are similar but I guess there are some small differences. I guess you could try to fit something through the 2 side openings on the manifold that yo can see in pic 2. By the way that's a view from underneath the manifold.
  21. Definitely check for codes as has been stated. Here's a thread concerning the 95-96 models that could be relevant so give it a read. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/topic/15699-9596-ls400-low-idle-engine-dies-and-jerking-thre/?hl=engine+stall
  22. I can't understand your post can you be a little clearer.
  23. Take it to the dealer or invest in the Toyota Techstream software. You can put it on your laptop an fix/change lots of things on the car. The software and cable that you hook up to the cars diagnostic port and your computer is relatively inexpensive on ebay.
