  1. Thanks for the help - I ordered the part and managed to get it in without unbolting the acc. pedal, although it was a royal pain! My neighbors got an earful as I was working on it.....Sure beats paying $1000 to Lexus mechanics.
  2. I think you're in the right ballpark with 7k-8k, you can get a little more up there than we can in Florida; too many Lexuses on the market here. I've been wanting the '03 ES for months - until I saw the '06 GS300 today! What a body!! Now, I guess I'll keep my '97 another 2 years until the '06 comes down in price ($52k w/nav). Good Luck with your sale!
  3. I have a recently sprung drivers rear seat belt on my '97 ES 300. How do you get to it ? Through the back seat or the trunk? Please be specific, if you can, with the details. I'm new to fixing my Lex - I "divorced" my mechanic last week after he hit me with a $1000 repair bill! :chairshot: Thanks for your help in advance...
  4. I tried that with my '97 ES 300 (in 2003); the driver's seat belt wouldn't retract without being fed by hand. The Lexus dealer in Clearwater, FL said that they wouldn't replace it for free since it was out of warranty & that the charge would be at least $450. I was so mad that I took it apart and cleaned the retractor & bracket; that's all it took - just dirty & gummed up. Hope this helps.
  5. I ran the diagnostic as you suggested. It first said "21", paused, & then it started to cycle through the numbers starting at 1, changing the hvac & intake settings as it progressed up to 8, at which time I shut it off. What in the heck was it doing? Was it OK to run the diagnostic with the fan motor out of it's housing??
  6. :cries: My blower fan has suddenly decided to take a vacation & only run on low speed. One mechanic told me to replace the blower motor resistor ($27); another advised replacing the blower motor controller and panel controller ($1,000.00). I got disgusted with both of them & took the dash apart by myself. I've got the blower motor out, but can't find where the resistor is located. I'd rather replace that first, since it's the least expensive option. I'm trying to use Camry diagrams that I talked the Toyota mechanic out of - to no avail! I need help fast - it's over 80 here in Florida.....!!!
