  1. A lexus mechanic told me (Our lex/toy dealers are on the same lot) "I don't know why people don't get in the toyota line, the hourly rate is less"
  2. As a Highlander owner, whats difference between 300 and 330 Lexus?
  3. what was the oil change frequency of the previous owner, when you bought it at 55000 miles?
  4. poor design of the key fob on the remote does that on my 2005 highlander- the buttons are too easy to press and they only move a little compared with other remotes so put it in your pocket with keys on the key ring and the other keys activate the lock button- happens all the time to me
  5. Are the bulbs too week or is it the taillight assembly?
  6. Wild uncontrolled mechanical work like this violates the service manual. I am sure the Lexus mechanics union will hunt you down. Sorta like the time 10 years ago I needed a timing belt on an Isuzu I mark- the Isuzu dealer wanted about $600 they said and showed me in the owners manual where engine removal was needed hence the high cost. Chevy made the same car, I asked them: $185. They said they jacked the engine up 1 inch and removed a motor mount allowing access.
  7. I agree with Bluestu when he wrote: "It's not a design flaw, but a service flaw. Just because it says Lexus, made by Toyota, doesn't mean it is maintenance free. Most transmissions will fail if you don't replace all the fluid on a regular basis." maybe if you tow a boat but no otherwise. a friend works in a trans shop and says many run til 150k with no service at all
  8. all of my 1994 toyota headlights were vented at the top by a small rubber tube that turned and poined donward they never had condensation
  9. My 04 Highlander has hissing front window wind noise when the windows are fully up. i am restarting this as a topic since I have found it is NOT mirror or roof rack noise but a failure of the window weather stripping to seal. If you bump the front window down the smallest amount- maybe 1/8 inch - the noise goes away because the gap (btw the rubber and the glass) then closes up on the inside - the gap is where the window comes up thru the door and is between the glass and the rubber piece on the fabric door panel . When the glass is hard up, there is a gap between the rubber and the door on the inside, that has opened up, where your elbow would be if the window was down.. Dealer replaced the outside horizontal rubber and metal weatherstrip using the TSB instructions --- then later replaced all the outside visible rubber window "run" pieces. With the windows full up the noise will also stop if you push on the fabric interior door panel about where your elbow would rest if window was down. Dealer has sent the problem to the Toyota district (Jacksonville Fla) Anyone else had this problem?

  12. I have an 04 highlander and the front windows when fully up leak air/noise. when down 1/8 inch they are quiet. i had the factory tsb nv794 i think done on the car and they replaced the two front window outside weatherstrips where the glass goes thru the door . the drivers window is quieter but the passenger is not fixed. anyone else had it done?
  13. just change the oil like every 5000 miles or more often-- simple
  14. to test the door seals take it up to 65 or70 and then bump the drivers window down about 1/8 inch to see if the noise changes. the bottom part of the window at the door top moves out about 1/4 inch sealing the noise out
  15. I thought they did NOT HAVE water shut off valves?

  17. it was on the edmunds toy highlander forum last week a newspaper link that said toy dealers had a cure and it took up to an hour to reprogram - wonde rif it cures or gets worse or something else gets worse
  18. I read where a dealer fix was available. Has anyone had it run yet? -did it work -did it mess anything else up (the fix?)
  19. which toyota part number gas the dense pack new type filter media?
  20. thanks wwest. Any idea where the heater hoses to the heater core are? I had a 78 Trans am with no heater control valve- I put a valve in the heater hose - in that car it was on the inner fender and very easy to get to. I have crawled under my Highlander and can not find the hoses - any help?
  21. are 330 doors the same as highlander doors? My 04 highlander does the same thing that is as the window raises the last 1/8 inch or so, it bows the window glass out at the bottom, (right above the door metal) and when it bows out, the glass moves away from the inside door rubber seal. you can then slide a credit carr thru the opening - thats where the noise then comes in. If you bump the window back down, the bottom of the glass moves back in toward the car interior and seals with the inside door seal. anyone seen any documentation that toyota recognizes the problem?
  22. My 94 Camry had one too. trying to find out if the RX300s have them
  23. I have a highlander actually. i have a manual air conditioner. When its set on full cold - i still get a little heat effect, like 10 degrees add to the outside air temp. Some people say this is because there is no hot water shut off valve and the heater core is therefore always hot> Do lexi cousins have manual Ac and if do, do they have or not have a water shut off valve for the heater core?
