  1. So I updated my maps to v7.1. I was aware that it would just update with more POIs and roads etc, and not the graphics. I am actually very disappointed in the overall quality of the graphics in the system. roads and streets look like a 5 year old scribbled them on paper or something. and on top of that, the resolution sucks (nevermind that you can't enter in destination while car is moving). Does moving up to GEN 5 of the Nav require the newer Nav screen/hardware as well? Can anyone post pics of the GEN 5 screens with roads etc..I just need to see how different the graphics are. thanks much.
  2. Geez. Can't believe I'm actually replying to your message again. saw this one...didn't care for the color combo..so didn't negotiate. it did have about 33k miles though. http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/car/768630192.html considered this one too...28k miles, beautiful interior, all options, with dark walnut wood. I got a better deal at the other dealer instead. http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/car/766153852.html fyi..the Merc dealer had posted my car for $38k, I offered $30k. Considering they only sell Mercs and Bentley's, they wanted to get rid of the Lexus, and so settled at $30,500. I guess I got lucky. Satisfied?
  3. This price HAS to include a trade. You cannot find a mint '06 GS 300 AWD with 27k and ML / Nav heated / cooled seats/ rear sunshade/ AFS / Headlight washers / Moonroof / etc etc etc for less than $38,000 ANYwhere online. I hate message boards, just loaded with people making unsubstantiated claims about ridiculous deals that are either completely false or leave out very important parts of the story. Sorry you feel so strongly/negativley about the price I paid for the car...there was no trade involved..it was a clean purchase from a Mercedes dealer, and FYI, in the DC/VA area (where I bought this), there were several 2006 GSs with similar options for around 32K. Private sellers for $31k. So, seriously, have a drink...relax...no need to get so annoyed.
  4. I saw a file named tlf-soft-toyota.lexus.gps.navigation.dvd.v7.1.shooters.iso. Anyone know what generation Nav this is for? 4? 5? EDIT: It is for GEN 4 (2006 GS), confirmed.
  5. I went in to the local Lexus dealer to have them take a look at the sunroof cause I had to keep the Open button pressed for it to pen completely. I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. The service guy opened and closed the sunroof in some sequence a few times, and it programmed the buttons to be one-click open and close. How cool. He didn't even create a ticket or anything. Just 'fixed' it right there in the parking lot. Great service.
  6. No...I don't have that option. Another option I don't have is the rear sunshade...i see the button on the left panel, but it does nothing when I press it. I'll take it to the dealer soon to get the sunroof looked at. Duckman: Thanks for the tip on the side mirrors, now that I think about, I did read that in the manual, but forgot about it. I'll try that out in the morning.
  7. Hello.. I just purchased a 2006 GS300 AWD, black/tan, with 27,000 miles, fully loaded with Navigation/Mark Levinson, parking sensors, etc. I got it from a mercedes/Bentley dealer who had it cause someone traded it in for a Merc. I paid $30,500, with an out the door price of about 31,500 (including tags, taxes, fees). They wanted $34k. I think I got an awesome deal. never been in an accident, paint was clean, except for some minor chips in the front. I do have to take it in to Lexus to check on the Sunroof (one click open does not seem to work, i have to keep the Open button pressed), and I guess the side mirrors should go down when reversing...they don't. I used to have the 2002 GS 300, but the newer model is so much better.
  8. see: http://www.stolena3.com/archives/001189.html and http://www.audiusa.com/shared/a3_microsite...in_content.html Looks like Audi is trying to do what BMW did with their series of short films a couple of years ago.

    32/Male, Business intelligence/IT specialist - small business owner. 2002 GS300 2003 Lincoln Aviator 2000 BMW 323i
  10. ealiest to most recent: 1995 Nissan Altima - leased new for 3 years...really liked it, decided to turn it in once lease ended. Got tired of the stick shift. 1995 Infiniti J30 - loved it, awesome ride, no problems with it - had it till 130k miles. 2000 BMW 740iL - HUGE. excellent handling for such a large car. Owned it for only 8 months - thought it was a tad bit too big. Wife found it intimidating. Current: 2000 BMW 323i - sports/premium/HarmonKardon/5Speed. - Wifes primary car, have had it for almost 5 years, has been extremely reliable so far, she loves it, BUT, we are selling it. Anyone interested? (got the GS as a replacement) 2003 Lincoln Aviator - Nav/entertainment/tow package - My primary ride - awesome power, luxurious look, but cheap interior parts. Could do better on gas mileage, but I still absolutely love the car. 2002 GS300 - Have had it for only 2 weeks so far, and have been very impressed with the comfort and handling. Wifes primary car. No mods on it...yet.
  11. I just got BF Goodrich Traction T/A V-rated - 225/55/16s on mine...Have put on less than 400 miles on them so far, but first impressions are that they are awesome. Excellent handling on the ride and around corners. Seem to have a stiff sidewall, which I like.
  12. I got new tires replaced at Costco last week, and they filled them with Nitrogen. The employee there said that with Nitrogen in the tires, the tires will not lose any pressure unlike with regualar air. I believe the person said i would never have to worry about loss in tire pressure, but that sounds extreme.
  13. I would go with what Toyota say sounds like they are been honest to me :) Win ← Yeah, they sounded honest to me too. The service guy said he had and his tech wondered why i wanted the brake pads changed, and mentioned that if things looks right to them, they let their customers know. I even had the parts for them. Seems like if they wanted to, they could have just gone ahead and changed the pads and made some dough. But they chose not too. Good in my books. thanks.
  14. I took my car to the deale rlast week to get it checked for a few things. they said front brake pads were at 2/32 and rear at 3/32 and both needed to be changed. Not knowing what those figures really mean, I ordered parts from lexus-parts and took the car to a local Toyota dealer to change. Toyota called today saying they weren't going to change the pads since I have 80% left on the front and 80% on the rear. What gives? was Lexus trying to make a quick buck here, or is Toyota missing something?
  15. I just ordered a set of BF Goodrich Traction T/A V rated tires..225/55/16 for my 2002 GS300. Getting them at costco at 126.99 each installed with roadside warranty and lifetime balancing/rotation etc. They should be in next week. I read reviews on them, and they seemed pretty good. Will let you know how thye perform once they are on.
  16. 2002 GS300, 48k miles. I took it in for headlight condensations issues, ignition taking a few seconds to kick in sometimes and brakes checkup. I was told the following: Headlights will be replaced under warranty. Cars battery is running low, and thats causing the ignition to take a few seconds. It will cost me $150. I gently reminded him that this ought to be covered under warranty. He checked, and after an hour or so called back to let me know I was right, and that they would change the battery for free. Regardless, I'm thinking thats not the cause of the ignition problem. My ex-7 series had a similar problem and after new battery and fuel pump, same problem..turned out it was the ignition relay thingy. I also need new brake pads- dealer wants $385 to change. I will actually buy-my-parts at Lexus-parts and get them changed at Toyota for $55. Also..dirty cabin air filter - they want $98 to change. I searched and found several DIY options. So....they are taking care of the lights and battery under warranty, and I will do the brakes at Toyota and filter myself. BTW..is there a place that shows the Lexus parts, and the corresponding Toyota part, if it matches? the Toyota dealership was not able to find a set of brake pads for the GS as he said part numbers are different.
  17. I just bought a 2002 GS300, dark blue light grey interior. It has 48100 miles on it, and so has about 1900 miles before the warranty expires. It is not CPO and I did not buy from a Lexus dealer.. Since the warranty is about to expire, can you recommend anything I should have the dealer take a look at to see if it needs changing/fixing, although I am not aware of anything that is wrong with the car at this point. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
  18. I will be looking to purchase a 2002 GS430 sometime in the near future. I noticed that in general, the price difference for a CPO at a dealer vs a non-CPO at a dealer is almost $5000 (both with similar specs, except mileage...non-CPO has 15k more). Over 3 years, is it worth paying the extra 5k for the CPO? Should one expect that a 2002 model will have around 5k worth of warranty repairs that the car would need? Those who purchased a used GS...did you consider this? Any help/comments would help me in making my purchase decision. thanks!
