  1. Hey! Yep, They are different but because the rx used smaller bolts i was able to get them together regardless. I also used some cam alignment bolts to get the camber in spec. They are even smaller and may have facilitated getting the knuckle attached to the strut. Bushings aren't need, the bolts and nuts just kinda squeeze everything together..

  2. Yes, it is, I had some heavy duty springs i had shipped from Australia.  I mean, you could try to build it as light as possible but the stock springs are only made for stock weight and an extra 100 lbs or more in front of the tires is heavier on the front springs than it is put behind where all 4 springs carry the weight.

  3. hey, sorry, I was just checking my junk mail and saw a notification from this forum. I did everything from scratch, I bought a sheet of 3/16" plate steel and a sheet of 1/4" plate and used my plasma cutter to cut out the pieces. I originally had a Sawzall I used but that took forever. I started with the winch plate made with the 1/4" steel going from 1 side of the frame horn to the other then welded on some pieces of 3/16" plate while they were bolted in place where the aluminum crash bar once was. Once I was happy with the winch plate and fitment I built everything around it, just kind of eye balling it and making it to how I wanted.

  4. Well, the center diff is actually built into and is part of the transmission... The transfer case that you can see underneath is only a ring and pinion gear, the ring being splined onto the transmission output. So all of the power splitting is being done inside the transmission

Has anyone come across lockers for these vehicles? Also brick wall would you be willing to make another custom bumper same as your that you would sell?

Hey! Yeah, there's no lockers, it's a very small diff not used in any offroad application... 6.7" I think... as for the shield, do you mean my hood deflector? I also plastidip'd my grill if that's what you mean... I'm not sure if I'm up to building another bumper either, sorry! If I had more time maybe I would

  6. Lol, I could. Unfortunately with a stock bumper a skid plate would only be able to go up to the lower rad support so it wouldn't be very effective for condenser and rad protection... but maybe with some thinking I could get something to work. And as for a snorkel, the way everything is under the hood you couldn't get one routed, at least very easily. But if anyone is interested in a good heavy duty spring option, I put these in my RX https://www.ebay.com/itm/LEXUS-RX-330-350-MCU38R-MY05-4X4-F-R-30mm-RAISED-COIL-SPRINGS/160720012716?hash=item256ba8c5ac:g:gL4AAOSwOgdYnVnc

It's looking awesome! I could use a lightweight bumper and skid plate for sure. Radiator keeps taking a beating when running through the tall grass/weeds. Is that a bumper for another application you are trying to adapt or was it custom for the RX?

I now see there are full sets of strut spacer lifts on Ebay from Russia if anyone is looking for a really easy lift. Tallest I see is 40mm~1.5" which is what I have with my spring spacer lift. I would rather use something like that with stiffer springs but the spring lift does double duty. If only a set of custom coil overs with a camber plate didn't cost more than my RX. I have to drive about 2 hrs to the management area we play in and the way the camber is set for the trail can wear you out driving it on the road.

Lol, I guess its custom. I made it from scratch myself...

  8. Yeah, the very inside of the back tires will rub pretty easily on the spring perch if you're not careful with your tire size, especially with a more square tire tread. looks like your current tires are pretty rounded on the inside... the fronts can fit whatever pretty easily.

  9. Well then, I've got 265/70r17 tires with rims with a 0 offset onto my 2005 rx330 with a 2.5inch lift. Should be able to do the same with the 2010, you sent have rear struts, just springs and shocks in the back so you don't have to worry about rear tire clearance like I do on my generation

  10. Hey! Yeah, I'm a Lexus mechanic but our dealership is small so we share our shop with Toyota. Just noticed that there was a ton of tire clearance on the highlanders, so when one of the guys brought one in and had the tires off I did some measurements and they all matched up! And the ABS wire mounts, sway bar link mounts and brake line mounts are in all the same places. I took the plunge and ordered two new struts and put them in! They ride a little firmer and seem to handle more of a load, which is what I need.

As for the spacers and springs I found them all on eBay. The springs are King Springs from Australia and the spacers are from Russia.

I spent a lot of time trying different things to get the suspension set up right. I had it up to 3.5" of lift but the cv joints couldn't take the angle so I arrived at 2.5 as the max. They would give a really bad vibration.

I don't think tire weight will take out your struts, I may give you poor due mileage though!

Nice car! The RC350 are a really good little coupe! Can't say I've seen one here in Canada with that color!

  11. Don't know if this is the right place for this. But here's my lifted RX330. 2.5" suspension lift, .5" strut spacers (not spring spacers) in front, 1" strut spacers in rear, 2012 sport highlander rear struts give me an extra 1.25" of lift and that much more tire clearance (can fit 265/65R17 tires), king spring lift springs front and back, 245/65r17 bfg K02's, full thule cargo basket with 6 rigid flood lights, and two light bars in the front all of which are connected to an auxiliary yellow top battery hidden in the back and controlled by Tacoma fog lamp switches in the front, topped off with Method Racing wheels, 8.5" wide with a 0mm offset.

    Model Year Start: 2015 Model: LS460 Prod Date Range: [10/2014 -           ]
Title: ENGINE HOOD / DOOR: POWER TRUNK LID SYSTEM: INITIALIZATION; 2015 MY LS460 [10/2014 -        ]

    INITIALIZATION

    1. RESET METHOD

    NOTICE:

Perform initialization of the power trunk lid system (power trunk lid control ECU initialization) if one of the following is performed: 1) The negative (-) battery cable is disconnected; 2) a wire harness, the luggage closer motor (power trunk lid control ECU) or luggage compartment door closer is replaced or removed/installed; or 3) the RR MPX-B 1 fuse is replaced or removed/installed. If initialization is not performed, the power trunk lid system will not operate.

    (a) Completely close the luggage compartment door by hand once.

    HINT:

It is not necessary to perform initialization if the negative (-) battery cable is disconnected while the luggage compartment door is closed.

    2. CHECK POWER TRUNK LID FUNCTION

    HINT:

    • Proceed to Operation Check 2015 MY LS460 [10/2014 -        ]; ENGINE HOOD / DOOR: POWER TRUNK LID SYSTEM: OPERATION CHECK .
    • If the power trunk lid system does not operate and/or the luggage compartment door does not open, disconnect the negative (-) battery cable. Then wait 10 seconds, reconnect the cable and perform initialization of the power trunk lid system again.
  13. When ever there is a knock sensor code, the ecu changes running parameters and the engine goes into a sort of limp mode to prevent damage. The knock sensors are down in the valley between the two cylinder heads where mice often will go. You most likely have either chewed up knock sensor harnesses or a bad knock sensor. I would probably get that fixed first and then go from there to see if it clears your other codes...

  14. Just so everyone knows, there doesn't have to be any sort of initialization if you rotate your tires, the car can figure out on its own where the tires are unless you had a tpms sensor replaced and it wasn't programmed into the car, in which case it needs to be programmed by your dealership or a good tire shop. The tire pressure switch only resets the pressures at which your tire light will come on. From the factory they'll come on at 27p.s.i.   If you raise your tire pressures to 40p.s.i. And hold the switch, it'll change the 27psi to around 34 psi... might be confusing, I know

  15. it could be another ignition coil, they don't really go in bunches, but sometimes the engine Ecu can't really determine which cylinder it is exactly so it throws a random misfire code, with a generic code reader you won't get the full story on what DTC's that are actually stored in the ecu such as if there's actual freeze frame data on one of the cylinder misfire (which would be a smoking gun on which cylinder is actually misfiring) or if there's another Toyota/Lexus specific code to do with the O2 sensors. If it started just after you had work done it, the problem is most likely related to that. Disconnected injectors, ground wire not reattached to valve cover etc. There is one wire harness connector right under the battery that I think has all of the front bank's coil, or injector wires in it. I can't remember which... think it's a 6 pin grey connector right next to an identical 6 pin black connector, although I don't know why someone would've gone near those ones...

  16. Your dealership would be able to help you more and would definitely be able to figure it out. But, to me it sounds like you probably have a leak in your a/c system somewhere causing you to be just a little low on refrigerant, which could give you erratic operation based on ambient temperatures. The thermostat only controls engine temperature 😊
