  1. Ok so I read over this entire post. My car is doing the same as yours. But I had a shade tree mechanic fix the issue. He replaced my radiator and couldn't figure out how the hydralic fan worked. So he rigged another fan to the radiator. Then he later took out the thermostat. My issue is a little more. When he changed all this my powersteering fluid started leaking. Not sure from where but it leaks and squeaks. It has to be refilled almost as often as I get gas. So I have issues with the fluid leaking and the overheating issue is still there. Today, it started smoking from the rear of the engine (part closest to the car). Its more of a something is leaking on something hot back there. Any ideas on what I need to tell my guy to do to fix this? Oh and he disconnected the other fan for whatever reason.
  2. Ok. I have a question. Do you mean "front end alignment" or is that something else? I live in New Orleans and if I could get a lifetime front end alignment for $100 I think I'd use it monthly. Help me out here. I'm a car virgin LOL
  3. I see those kind of lights on Ebay all the time. Really cheap too! :D
  4. Well, I was looking for a car and was having no luck with the amount of money that I had saved. So I stopped looking and prayed. :D All of a sudden I came across a 92 Lexus ES300! My prayers were answered when I saw the price. Its like it was a gift from heaven. Plus it was pearl and that ray of light shining on it didn't help LOL. The main deciding factor was as a first time driver, I could own a "luxury" car that used Toyota parts. I was amazed at how many parts it can use from a Toyota. So, the decision was easy. And I love the car! I feel like a million bucks after only shellin' out $2,960 LOL
  5. Hey, I have a few questions to my fellow ES300 owners. :) I recently purchased this car from a college student and overall the car looks great. The exterior is in good condition with the exception of a few paint chips here and there. My first question is the back axle seems to be loose or in need of a good tightening... is that a word? Anyway, it makes a thumping noise whenever I go over bumps. I know its the back because you only here it when the back goes over the bump. It makes my lexy have a clunky sound. The previous owner said it was the undercarriage that was loose and it wasn't anything major. Well, its major to me because I hear it all the time since I live in New Orleans and every street is a pot hole. I'm a little leary about taking it to a mechanic because I know they are gonna tell me its worst than it is. Have any of you had that same problem? What could I try and tighten? I heard in a thread something about tighening a bolt under the back seat. Also, my 10 disc changer that plays thru my radio sounds like crap. It has a sort of whistling static type interference. Anyone else have that sort of reception problem with their changer? I know its alot but I'm a first time driver and Lexy is my first car so I don't know whats right and wrong. Always being afraid of mechanic shops has made me scared to bring it in without taking out a second mortgage. I won't mention the oil leak... I bought the car cheap so I knew it had issues LOL. -Mel
  6. Ok I'm not a mechanic at all. I'm like a idiot when it comes to cars. I'm buying a beautiful pearl 92 Lexus ES300. My only problem is that it makes that bumping noise. I can feel that its not in the front. More of a rear problem. What I'd like to know is if I bring it to a shop, what should I suggest is the problem? The person I'm buying it from says she had it checked out and it was something loose in the undercarriage... I'm clueless as to what that means. I have a cd changer issue too but I'll see about that myself. This thumpy bumpy thing is my only urgent issue.:cries:
