  1. I have a 2013 Lexus 350RX and a mechanic told me I had to get one of the back shocks replaced. I called the dealership near me and their quote for replacing it is about $350 more than the mechanic who identified the problem. Is this something that I should have the dealership, which is dedicated to Lexus take care of, or would it be okay for the mechanic to do this and save the $350.
  2. Hi — First off, I'm sure this question has been asked a zillion times before, but I searched and couldn't find anything definitive. I just bought a 2013 Lexus RX 350. It's my first car (other than the '71 Dodge Dart my grandfather gave me when I was a teen) and I was wondering what best practices are in terms of maintenance. How often should I take it in to get a check up? What can/should I do myself? etc. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to cars (though I'm totally willing to put some work in to get a clue now that I have a car), so any tips would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
