  1. I will post what the shop finds out. I checked the ohms of the o2 sensors, along with the heater relay for the o2 sensors, also checked ohm readings at the injectors, cleaned throttle body. Still runs rough and misses. I also looked over the vacuum lines.
  2. I replaced the plugs, old ones were denso, I replaced with ngk iridum, I also ohmed out the coils that were getting the error codes and compared them to the ones that were not throwing the code and they all had the same ohm readings I switched the coil paks around and will have to see what error codes come up next..so far I have the same issue, I will keep on posting of what I find. I have searched many forums and found this problem hard to diagnose and nobody seems to give a solution. Also cleaned the MAF sensor
  3. I have a 2000 Es300 that started missing and the check engine light started flashing. I drove it over to Auto Zone and they found multiple misfires for the #1,3,and 4 cylinders. I have changed a few coil packs over the years and thought this was the problem again, but find it hard to believe all 3 went bad at once. the car has 188,000 miles on it and i have changed the plugs within the last 30,000 miles. When i got back home i popped the hood to have a look for a vacuum leak and happened to notice the exhaust manifold was bright red : ( i assume this was caused from the misfiring issue. Wondering if anyone has some direction for me to start before i take it into the shop. I would rather try to fix this issue myself before i take it in. Any help would be greatly appreciated and many thanks in advance.
  4. Here is one about sensor. Where is : bank 1 sensor 1 bank 1 sensor 2 bank 2 sensor 1 bank 2 sensor 2 I never understood that. Bank 1 Sensor 1: side of engine nearest windshield, between exhaust manifold and cat. Bank 1 Sensor 2: underneath car in pipe coming from the cat connected to the exhaust manifold/cylinders closest to the windshield. Bank 2 Sensor 1: side of engine nearest to radiator, between exhaust manifold and cat. Bank 2 Sensor 2: underneath car in pipe coming from the cat connected to the exhaust manifold/cylinders closest to the radiator. steviej I took off the Bank 1 Sensor 2 O2 sensor.. but the cable runs into the car.. i heard something about the connection being in the car under the carpet, under the drivers seat.. please help, i cannot find the connection. thanks You will have to remove the seat , take care removing the electrical connections. once the seat is out of the car, look at the tranny hump and you should see a small slit in the carpet, right where the floor and hump meet, peel the carpet apart and you will see the connector for the sensor. you may need to cut the carpet a little more if needed. have fun : )
  5. am i correct to say that the rear bank o2 sensor is behind the catylitic converter?
  6. Hey guys, i have a 2000 Es300 and the check engine light is back on again. code was read at auto zone , P0171. I have read about the things to check, loose air hose, incoreect fuel pressure, etc. I have cleaned the MAF sensor in the past and it has worked for about a month with good results, but the check engine light always comes back on. I went and bought a new MAF sensor and guess what? The light comes back on. I havent been able to find any air leaks, and the fuel pressure is ok. I changed the plugs today and they were pretty white. so it is obviously running real rich. I am going to check the resistance of the MAP sensor tomorrow and the ECT sensor also. Could the problem be coming from a bad o2 sensor? If any of you guys have run into this problem and could give me a direction to go, it would be greatly appreciated. The car doesnt run that bad , other than being sluggish, but i dont think it is good for the motor running that lean. Thanks in advance for any helpful replies.
  7. Why is everyone getting their nose bent out of shape? I did'nt hear anyone making blanket statements about anything, just someone making a suggestion, and offering opinions. This is the piece that i found that happened to fix my problem "Lex-us01 post Dec 15 2004, 02:58 PM Post #19 New Club Member * Group: Members Posts: 7 Joined: 22-October 04 Member No.: 13,610 Car Model:2001 IS300 & 2001 RX300 Location:Durham, NC Hello all, I finally FIXED this problem with my '01 IS300. Steve@Lextasy was right, but I have more to add. After some research I found a link that hit the "spot" 1. See this website for the offical RCA: *Note: I used rubbing alcohol on a Q-Tip, becareful! http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/knowledge...ex_v2&id=50&c=9 2. Like Steve suggested, reset your ECU by disconnecting the battery for 30 mins. 3. Drive the *BLEEP* out of it, once the above is done. As for my '01 IS300 it NOW performs like a new car...wowo! I'm in love with my ride all over again! 4. Then smile!!!!!! And guess what IT WORKED !!! and i am damn grateful for the help, it saved me alot of money, and alot of wasted time going back and forth to the shop. Again thanks for the help, and info. The Rudecuban.
  8. Thanks guys for the replies. I was reading somewhere in this forum that a guy said to clean the wires off inside of the MAF with rubbing alcohol. While i have sprayed this area with cleaner is was recommended that using a q-tip and alcohol would be better . It is like night and day, i didnt see any crud on the q-tip so i thought yeah right . It worked like a dream, my hat goes out to all you knowledge people helping each other, what a great site, hopefully i will be able to help someone out as well,Thanks Todd
  9. Thanks for the quick reply mehullica, When you say air flow meter are you refering to the mass air flow sensor? If so this was supposedly cleaned and checked. if you are not refering to the mass air flow sensor, could you give me a idea where this animal is located. i have looked in my service book that i have and i cant find a airflow meter. Thanks Todd
  10. Hi everyone, i am new here and hope one of you gurus can help. I have a 2000 ES300 with 93,000mi on it. recently while driving i had a cel and trac off light come on. i have had to the code read which was P0171 . I have read thru this forum on this issue and have tried all the tricks that people have recomended, yesterday i took it to the shop and they hooked up the computer and said it was running fine, could not find problem. The problem i am having is when you really step on it , like when passing , the car has no power and is sucking air. While normal driving up to about 3/4 throttle it is fine ,but if it is pushed past this it is like a dog on a sunny afternoon. after i left the shop and was on the highway, guess what? cel and trac off was back on. i called back to the shop and they said to try changing the fuel filter and run some injector cleaner thru system. I have done this but still have same problem. The shop also said the fuel pressure was good until 3/4 throttle and than it starts to drop off, which is why they recomended changing filter. Any ideas on where to go from here?Any help will be greatly appreciated. The nearest lexus shop is over 100 miles away and i hate to drive there and have them tell me what i already know , it is running to lean. What i would like to know is why? Thank you in advance for anyone willing to help me. Todd
