  1. I have the 2016 Lexus ES 350 with original equipment tires size 225/45R/18. I have read numerous articles discussing the merits of downsizing winter tires to 17 inch (called minus 1) or even 16 inch (minus 2)...the theory being the smaller tires actually provide better grip and winter traction with a higher sidewall vs the low profile tires that are standard equipment. I am thinking of using the Michelin Ice winter tires from my older Toyota Camry that are mounted on 16 inch alloy rims sized as 225/60R/16. They have the same bolt pattern of 5 x 114.3 and same hub bore of 60.1. All I would need are aftermarket lexus caps. Does anyone have any experience using a downsized winter tire and will these work?
