  1. Thank you everyone for your comments. It seems like I need to remove the battery to locate the DRL resistor which I have not tried yet. Is there any other way? In response to comments regarding DRLs, I agree that they are a great feature. However, as I mentioned before, I recently moved from the US to Asia where the only automobiles with DRLs are those like mine (shipped from abroad). As we have gridlock traffic conditions during any given day and the fact that most people are not used to them, I don't see any reason why removing them would be a hazard to others or myself. I have noticed other RXs here and in my opinion, they look better without them. As a side note, I have read both articles that support and not support the actual effectiveness of DRLs statistically (or else all automobile mfgs. would make them mandatory?). My opinion is that I probably would not make DRLs a critical factor during the purchase of an automobile nor would I go out of my way to add them to a car that I own that currently does not have this feature. We are lucky to have purchased RXs that have this feature but Lexus does not manufacture all RXs with them. Why do you want to disable this feature? It's a wise safety enhancement that has been standard on ALL motor vehicles sold in Canada since the 1990 models year. It uses a minimum of light voltage & it let's others see you better especially in bad weather. I'd think twice before disabling it. Just my 2 cents. This feature has also proven to reduce traffic crashes significantly in studies conducted over the years. ← Yeah, I have to agree with this. Daytime Running Lights is an excellent feature. It is much easier to see a car heading towards you, especially when it is ovecast or there is light drizzle. As an example, driving on a Hwy 401 (Canada), I have no problem recognizing that there is a car coming when it has DRL's, but when it doesn't, even though it might be closer than the car with the DRL's, it is still harder to spot them. Don't get me wrong, I'm not blind nor do I have any problems with my eyesight. All I'm saying is that it is a lot easier to spot a car that has the DRL's than the one that doesn't. I really see no point in taking them off. I agree that without those lights, you will save some fuel (because the engine no longer needs to generate power to keep them running), but we're talking about, maybe, 2-3 drops. Aside from, "it is my car, I can do whatever I want with it", do you have a reason for wanting to disconnect your DRL's? ←
  2. Thanks very much for your reply. I will try to look for the DRL voltage dropping resistor; I am hoping that this is something that a novice can remove without removing the battery or without specific tools... Thanks again. Happy New Year!
  3. Happy New Year to everyone. I had a quick question. I have a 2001 RX300 Silversport that I have shipped to Asia. Daytime running lights are not a requirement here and I have been trying to disable them. According to the owner's manual, removing a #1 fuse in the engine bay (with 7.5 ampere) should disable them. However, after removing them, my DRLs are still on... Can anyone help me in this area...
  4. Bryan, You are right, I wanted to try to get a bit better sound without dropping major $$$$ as well as tearing up my entire vehicle. I'm looking to use the Dynamats and finding an amp and sub (or a preamped sub). Any suggestions to the amp and sub would be appreciated folks! Thanks very much!
  5. Thank you for the suggestions! I'll try it and let you know how it turns out... Thanks again!
  6. Hello everyone! I have a 2001 RX300 Silversport with Navigation. I believe it uses a Pioneer head unit, 6.5" front speakers with tweets, 5.5" rear speakers (I think...), and a tiny sub underneath the passenger seat. I would like to at least upgrade the front speakers and had in mind the Focal 165 K2P K2 6.5" component set with TN52 tweeters. The specs are below as a reference: 6.5" Woofer 1.5" voicecoil 4" magnet TN 52 tweeter. dome- inverted tioxid 5 dome 18dB/oct Seperate crossover Adjustable tweeter and midrange level Max. power handling: 200Watts Nominal, power handling: 100Watts Sensitivity : 92.5dB. Freq response: 70Hz-22kHz Is it worth running this set using the existing stock setup (without getting a new amp)? If so, could I keep the stock tweeters running alongside the new Focal tweeters? I would appreciate any comments and ideas as I am new to car audio. Thanks in advance!
  7. AlohaRx, I was told by Carson that they often work with a retailer that sells OEM RX330 rims after they sell larger rims to RX330 customers. I bought a set from Carson that was used for less than a 100 miles and upon receiving and thoroughly inspecting them, I was completely satisfied (pls. check attached pic). I am surprised about the group purchase - Carson as well as any local Lexus dealership were willing to sell me new RX330 rims (regular and chrome) - only they were a bit too expensive... Apologies if I mislead anyone... My recommendation is that if you are OK with purchasing slightly used rims for a reasonable price, Carson is reputable enough and will find you the right product if available. I think the contact person was Steve Ganz. Hope this helps...
  8. If you are interested, I also have a 2001 RX300 Silversport in which I replaced the stock rims with the chrome factory RX330 wheels (235/55/18). After researching a bit, I ended up purchasing the OEM rims from Carson Toyota out in California (www.carsontoyota.com - anyone in parts would be able to help you). Their service was very reliable and they were flexible working with someone like me out in Massachusetts. Another place I looked at was Capital Wheels (www.capitalwheels.com). However, their rims are not OEM and are replicas. In this size, you will not need any spacers and they will fit perfectly (according to wheel/tire experts running some type of equation to verify fit, it's very close to perfect when compared to the stock rims/tires although with the new rims, my car sits 0.15-0.20 inches lower). My understanding is that there are only 3 tires out there that fit this size. They are the Goodyear Eagle RS-As, Michelin Energy MXV4 S8, and the Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50 (these are snows so...). I opted for the Michelins and I am quite happy with them so far (they seem to have a slightly higher warranty rating). I will try to post pics soon; hope this helps.
  9. Hope everyone is well... New to this forum. I have a 2001 RX300 Silversport and recently had problems with my remote entry and auto power windows. The remote entry would unlock all but the driver side door and the auto power windows would freak out and move up and down once I activated them. The dealer replaced the Master Switch and told me the cause of the problem was the front windows that I tinted. Apparently, I was told there are window sensors sensitive enough to notice change in thickness of the windows (after the tint) and that may short circuit the Master Switch. Anybody else had problems like this after tinting the front windows? Would appreciate any feedback... Thanks!
