  1. I asked for platinum plugs at checker and i brought them home and spent 3 hours puting them in the car due to the whole intake manifold b.s. I was just looking at the box for one of the plugs and I saw "copper core"..... now I'm furious. It doesn't seem like a huge issue for the car but there's that small sticker by the engine saying "Replace spark plugs every 60,000 miles with Platinum type only" or something to that effect. Should these be swapped out ASAP or what? They did this same crap to me last week for sway bar bushings. I drove 25 miles to another store to get them and they ended up not being the right thing. :chairshot: :chairshot: :chairshot: F**K Checker
  2. Can you be more specific in describing the problem, such as the speeds that it's most noticed etc? How many miles on the car? The more detailed you are, the better we can assist. ;) I assume your air pressures are correct in your tires? About 79000 miles. It will happen above 50 mph normally, I can't remember if it stops at a certain speed above that though. Tires are all inflated properly. I noticed today that the dust boots on all four struts are shredded into pieces... maybe those are going now :whistles:
  3. They feel as if they are coming from the frone end of the car, though I never feel them through the steering wheel. Are there any common causes for this on the ES? My tires are balanced, and my alignment seems to be in check.
  4. Thanks for the replies but it seems to have fixed itself. It wasn't the taillight out indicator, it was the one that says "Brake" spelled out, for the emergency handbrake.
  5. I have a 94 ES. 75k miles I've read throughout this board that the bushings are a good suspect for the rear clunking noise that people hear on mid 90's ES's. I took a visual look at them today and don't notice cracking or anything.. I grabbed onto the bar and moved it back and forth with good force to try to make the noise I'm hearing without any luck. But I guess I don't really know for sure how to tell if these are bad.. ideas?
  6. 1994 ES300 75,000miles The handbrake light on the dash is remaining on for me even after topping off the brake fluid. I replaced all four rotors, pads, and bled the system 4 weeks ago so I really have no idea as to what it could be. Where is the switch that activates this light on when you pull the handbrake? I'm thinking about checking that next to see if it's malfunctioning or possibly not aligned correctly. Any other ideas or suggestions appreciated!
  7. I'm pretty sure a key can be made with just your VIN.
  8. Anybody have an idea how good these bulbs look? http://www.cardomain.com/item/EUR9006DP
  9. One of my 12 month old Silverstar lo-beam headlights burned out last night so I bought a single bulb to replace it. I drove it earlier and noticed that the new bulb shines a completely different shade of color onto the road.. I got out and checked it from the front and sure enough, the new bulb definately isn't filtering as well as the older one. WTF. In this pic, the new bulb is on the left side of the picture (passenger side) Shining on the garage, new one appearing on the right side Could this be a flaw in the new bulb? Or is Sylvania cutting costs one these now... Thinking about trying to exchange it but I'll probably just end up in the same situation.
  10. I went to the Toyota today to find out how much they would charge to do a complete transmission flush. $90. I asked him if they do a complete flush along with a new filter and he says "No, we don't change a filter". I tell him that from what I know there is a filter of some sort behind a cover once you pull the transmission pan off. He looks at me like I'm an idiot and tells me that this isn't like an oil change and there isn't just a plug to drain the fluid... duh. But I find out that when they change the fluid they do it through the tranny lines which from what I've read is the best method of doing it. But I'm still skeptical because I thought you should change the filter as long as you're changing the fluid.
  11. I couldn't find a definitive answer so I'm making this thread for future people searching. You need to do this to remove the radio. radio removal vent removal On the inside of the vent on the bottom about 1 inch in there are two clips toward each side. They consist of a small square closer to the front of the vent that is flush with the bottom of the vent and then there is also a much smaller piece of the clip that raises about 1/8 inch from the bottom of the vent. Insert a flathead screwdriver between the vent fins and push with good pressure on the raised piece of the clip toward the back of the vent. It will go back and pop down flush with the bottom of the vent. Then with the screwdriver push directly downward on the larger square part of the clip. It will fall downward behind the radio. Repeat the same on the other clip. The vent can now be pryed out from the dash with ease and little pressure.
  12. I'm going to mount the whole car kit thing so the myfi can be snapped in and out easily. I'll be going somewhere tomorrow for some sheet metal so I can try making a bracket. I'll post some pics if it all works out.
  13. Where and how did you mount it inside your car? I was planning on using the swivel mount but there is no place that I could put it... except on the left side of the passenger air bag which would be dumb.
  14. If you want to go with the company that has 70% of the satellite radio customers, plus has the smaller receivers with more options you'll want XM. The commander would be a nice unit because of it's size and ease of use, however you will not be able to use it inside your home. If you end up with XM, I suggest checking out Channel 202 which hosts Opie & Anthony. Many people compare them to Stern, but they are younger and more in tune to OUR generation.
  15. Somehow I can't see an exhaust shop replacing just the flex pipe.. especially for under $50. I ordered a Bosal for $140 with three gaskets and two day shipping. It didn't look like too hard of a job. I've replaced Y-pipes on much worse.. (ie: Ford Probe). Biggest pain in the !Removed! EVER.
  16. I'm just looking for an oem replacement. The car is already too slow compared to what I consider fast so I'm not too interested in gaining horsepower on this car. It's just my daily driver. Found a Bosal for $145 + $15 for gaskets + $15 for 2-day shipping. So I think im set. Thanks.
  17. I need to replace the exhaust pieceon my 94 ES between the exhaust manifolds and the cat. It's basically a Y-Pipe with two flex pipes in there. First off.. no one sells it. Most auto stores use Walker exhausts for their inventory and apparently Walker doesn't make it. Napa sells Bosal who makes it and they want $214 for it. The dealership wants $260 which is after discount through my friend's auto body shop. Does anyone have any other ideas as to where to get one?
  18. I was looking for install kits (the wiring) for a new CD deck and they all have RCA inputs to make use of the amplifier in the car. My problem with this is that I want to replace the speakers in the car and don't know if I really want to route the sound through that amp. I would like to replace the three piece front speakers with something similar but I don't really know whats out there that will fit in the same 6 locations. Suggestions?
  19. Good to know. I just kind of assumed it did. Thanks
  20. Here's where I read about it (Towards the bottom, by Defect): http://www.autotrader.com/research/model_i...rList=1994&y=14 My 94 has a little steering wheel vibration sometimes at low speeds (15-35mph). Could this be causing it?
  21. Is there a button anywhere on a 94 es300 to turn off the traction control??
  22. I like the second set. They all kind of look like they belong on a truck though.
  23. When you say all around, does that include the windshield? In Minnesota its illegal to have any tint on the windshield except at the very top. I've heard people do it in warmer states though..
