  1. You mean to tell me that I can go 149 miles an hour? Yeah!!! ....catch me if you can!! :)
  2. faster....faster....faster....I think I bought the right car. No speeding tickets...yet. It's a good thing to have a few cop friends. My favorite thing so far is the get and GO...
  3. Hey all, If you remember I had my car for a very sort time and the I started to have starting problems. Well, my car is up and running...it was the starter! Is this common? I haven't seen much about starters needing replaced. Anyway, as I explained before I am a (new to me) '99 GS400 owner. What are some preventative things that you could share that G's need? Oil every 3K-belts-filters-etc. I don't want to ignore something that should be addressed at 64000 miles. I'm an average driver...okay so I like to drive fast, but mostly during the straight away for 20 minutes on the way home work. How much impact does octane make? Thanks! ;)
  4. So glad I found your conversation! My 99 GS400 is acting the same way...the sucky part is that I've only had it for 4 weeks! You guys have confirmed for me what I thought the problem might be. And I've diagnosed it all from LOC! Can't wait to get it running again. Thanks so much.. Traci -hopefully the mysterious no-start problem will be solved. BTW-do you recommend checking anything else? I'm at 64,000 and a first time Lex owner. Still learning the ropes.
  5. I was clear...sorry...I have two keys. One original remote and one new without remote. The key has been programmed. Problem persists. I'm leaning to starter. I'm just a lady who likes Lexus with little automotive knowledge, but something tells me it's the starter. Some talk on most www's is about starter solenoid failure. I'll find out Monday. :cries:
  6. Thanks. During the last two days I've been pounding the keyboard to try and find whatever I can about the problem. At 64,000 miles she should have quite a few more years to go. Not sure what I'm looking for regarding the key being read. The key will unlock the trunk and lock-unlock the doors without problems. I have a new key (without the lock/unlock fob) and the problem remains. I'm afraid I am going to have to rely upon a Lexus service shop to tell what's wrong.....$$$$. I'll have my husband take a look tonight for loose wires. Any other suggestions are welcome.
  7. Hi all, I am new to the Lexus world, and I am facing a concern. I purchased my 99 GS400 four weeks ago and the car ran great...as a matter of fact I love it. However during the last 2 weeks the car will not start. Headlights turn on, radio on, dash will illuminate - but nothing from the engine. No clicking, no turn over. After less then 5 minutes the car starts right up. Other times the car starts right up acting as if there . ?? Please help!
