  1. Please help guys. I got into my 92 SC4 this morning and realized it wasn’t running right. I turned on without a provlem but the steering wheel was slightly vibrating – everything was still in Park. I left the car and took another car to work. I just got back and turned on the SC and the same problem, steering wheel was slightly vibrating. I decided to put it into Drive and drive a block or so. It accelerated and went into first without a problem. However, I tried to accelerate, but I got very poor response from the car. I completely floored and the tachometer was only slowing gain revolutions --- I decided not to risk and put it in reverse and parked the car. Here is what I noticed: - I didn’t hear any loud clunking sounds - No warning lighters are on my dash - When I put it into Drive the steering wheel is still slightly vibrating – but stopped as I picked up speed. - I couldn’t make out much under the hood since it was dark but I smelled oil o rubber burning (my car never smelled of burning oil/rubber) I know that’s not a lot of information – but do any of you guys have an idea of what it could be?? Any help is appreciated. Thx
  2. Sluggo, thanks for the replay, I will ask him that. I took the car to him today and it was working just fine. He tested the alternator for a charge and everything was working. What could have triggered a sudden shutdown?
  3. Two weeks ago the battery (charging) light came on in my 92 SC400 (115K mil). I had been having leakage problems with the p/s pump so I figured the p/s fluid had destroyed the alternator. I took the car to my local mechanic the very next day. He put in a remanufactured alternator and told me that there is no problem with the power steering pump and so he didn’t change it. But it’s obvious that the p/s pump is soaking wet. So, today I went to go turn on my car, and it was dead. After getting a jump start, I decided to drive around a bit to let the battery charge. While I was going about 60mph, the car shut off on me!! Now, this seems like a sign of the alternator going bad. But it has only been two weeks. And this time, the strange thing is, that the battery light never came on like it had two weeks ago. Did I get stuck with a bad alternator or did the p/s pump kill another one? Why didn’t the battery light come on if it is the alternator again? Please help, any suggestions/recommendations are appreciated! P/s: Know of any good mechanics in Maryland (near D.C.)
  4. any idea on how to remove it? I read the tutoral on how to rebuild it and I have decided to just replace it from advanced auto for $130. Is there anything else I should change along with the pump?
  5. Did anyone find a solution/fuse? ← I don't think so. I started a new thread in hopes of getting some help. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...++washer++fluid
  6. My 92 SC400 does not dispense any windshield washer fluid. I cleaned the nozzles and the washer fluid lever is full. When I try to spray it, I don’t hear the motor (pump) sound. What could be the problem (pump, fuse)?? What steps should I take to diagnose the problem? Thanks, Winny
  7. I'm having the same problem with my sc400. When push the buttion for the fluid, I don't hear any noise of the pump. Is there a fuse somewhere?
  8. Hey, Finally took advantage of the nice weather here on the east cost! Washed the sc400 today with Meguiar car wash followed by Meguiar step 2 polish and toped with Meguiar NXT generation wax. The final product came out pretty nice. The instructions on the NXT sucked! How long should I wait for it to dry to a “haze” and I think I was using up way too much wax, how long should a bottle last? Lastly, any comments on the products I used or recommendations on other products are appreciated. Thanks in advanced, Labtec I hate pollen!
  9. i have the same problem with my '92 400. They used to work just fine.
  10. Hey, Thanks for the replies! I tried the automatic lock thing and it didn’t work :( . Sluggo, your right, a beep would be better then lights. Good luck, I’m keeping my fingers crossed! -Labtec
  11. Hey, I have a 1992 SC400 and I was wondering if I can do anything to make the lights flash when I unlock/lock the car. It’s very annoying to try to guess if the car is locked or unlocked. Thanks in advanced
  12. Hey, Just got a spruce (light blue) sc400 and the previous owner kept it v. nice. I would like to do the same. I always thought a nice wash and some wax would do the job. But after reading some posts, I see people talking about polishes, clay and a whole bunch of other items I have never used or even heard of. Before I go out and spend money, can anyone tell me if it will really makes a noticeable difference to use polish and then wax? Since I am using this for the first time, if I make a mistake, can it permanently damage my paint? Thanks in advance
