  1. remanufactured compressor I bought a while ago and sold my baby before I got a chance to put on. Its for 92-00 sc400 and ls400. my loss your gain email if interested and for a pic saleen98coupe@aol.com
  2. I turn the wheel to lock hold for 3 seconds then back the other way 3 seconds. Is this the correct way, should I put alot of pressure or light?
  3. It all started by the famous grinding noise every morning till it warmed up, then I was sitting in my friends driveway with the car running and It made a noise then locked up and started pouring fluid on the driveway. So I change the pump bled the lines and no power, I thought it was a bad pump so I returned it got another one installed it made sure all the lines were back in the right location but still no power. I was reading on another posts that it took someone a while to bleed the lines so I thought I would give it a try, after about 2 hours of doing so I started getting somewhere, it makes a loud grinding noise when the pump kicks in and is not smooth like before. I look in the reservoir with the car shut off( cause with the car running the fluid gushes out the reservoir 5-6 inches) there are tiny white bubbles in there, so I bleed for another hour. I cannot believe that there can be all that air in the lines after bleeding it so long and why would the fluid be gushing like that? thanks for all the replies
  4. Reservoir is gushing even without me turning the wheel. I just replaced the power steering twice, got the pump to finally work after hours of bleeding the system, but it is still not correct. when I turn the steering to lock it makes a loud grinding sound, the other way ditto. The pump is real slow meaning when I turn the wheel I have to wait a sec then it will kick in. This is my second thread in 4 days on the same topic, I really need help on this. I have searched on this and other forums for answers but have come up short, I am very frustrated and financial situations have kept me from going to the dealer, although my friend is a certified mechanic and has looked and worked on the car, he is also stumped and wants to replace one thing at a time and see if it works. :cries:
  5. This one explains it a little better, I forgot it was not in this forum :whistles: The washers that I used are actually gaskets for garden hoses http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread...t=tilt+steering
  6. ok scratch the last post I have been bleeding the system for the last 2 hours and I finally think I am geting somewhere, I have power steering but it is not what it should be. When I turn the steering wheel the power only works when it has a loud grinding noise and it is also a little late, meaning I will turn and have to wait for the noise then it will work also the fluid will come out the reservoir with the cap on. Does this mean there is still air in the pump and has anybody ever had to bleed the lines for so long, maybe I am not doing this right. I turn the wheel to lock hold for 2-3 seconds then back to lock hold 2-3 is this correct, do I hold the wheel in lock real hard or just with a little pressure. please help!!!
  7. I had the same problem you have to take the cover off and put washers behind and infront of a blue gear wheel, there is a thread somewhere here that has all the pictures and shows you how to correct the problem . Do a search on tilt steering and you should come across it
  8. Here is the update Cleaned the 2 screens(for those of you who need help on cleaning the screens let me know and I will take you through step by step)bled system and still nothing, replaced the pump reinstalled bled system and you guessed it no power. Could it be the rack causing me to age so quickly??? My mechanic and I do not know what else to do but change the rack.
  9. Can you tell if the pump is bad by taking the pressure hose to the reservoir off and see if it is gushing fluid? I tried to clean the screen on the steering rack but could not find it, the picture I saw on other threads shows it being under the solenoid, but took off the nut and found only a greased up spring. can someone point me in the right direction, I have about had it with this car. thanks in advance
  10. Thanks for the response, I'll check it out and see what happens.
  11. Replaced the power steering pump and now I have no power. Bled the system and still nothing. I am going to replace the belt tensioner next but if this fails what else can I do??? PLEASE HELP!!!
  12. Nice ride in my opinion 20's are the only way to go on sc's. Vince,no problem at all with rubbing if you go with 225/35/20, just try to avoid potholes with these tires. I'll include some pics once I get this stupid power steering pump fixed.
  13. Replaced the power steering pump and now I have no power. Bled the system and still nothing. I am going to replace the belt tensioner next but if this fails what else can I do??? Also does anybody have any diagrams on the screens, Iread that one is in the reservoir and one is under the solenoid wherever that is, if someone could post the step by step process(since this is an on-going problem )this would be very helpful to me as well as many others
  14. I have the same problem with my speedo it use to alternate between the tach and the speedo, but now the tach works everytime and the speedo comes on once in a while, I'm thinking it is a loose cable or something. hope we get some responses
