  1. Yep...independent. He quoted around $650 end of last year and didn't stick to his word!
  2. Well...I took my mechanic's word that nothing else needed to be replaced. Is there a "setting" or an "adjustment" which can be done on these KYB's ?
  3. I had all 4 struts on my '94 ES 300 [170K miles] replaced today. Cost me around $800 including labor. Wonder how this figures with you guys? I'm not at all happy with the new gas KYB's. [Part # 334131 /32 front and 334176 / 77 back, I think] The ride seemed a bit too jumpy and the shocks are a bit hard. I miss that sweet smooth ride of my Lexus on the really beaten old struts. The old ones did a "thunk" on sharp bumps but mannnn...that was a cushy soft ride otherwise. The new ones seem to react to every little bump and has me jumpy inside. Is there something I can have my mechanic do to get that old cushy soft ride of my Lexus again?
  4. Hmm....thanks. So...changing Springs are not required? Bearings?? You're not talking about wheel bearings right?
  5. 1994 ES 300, 170K Miles, third owner ... quite well maintained. It still gives a great smooth ride and am very happy with this car. However, recently I've noticed that when I ride over sharp bumps like the speed breakers in my workplace garage - I can feel it inside. I've religiously gone through most of the postings here and did my homework on the web. When I asked around - it looks like it's time to change "Struts". Don't want to take it to the dealer and the mobile workshop which comes to my company on every Tuesday said they could replaces the Struts [KYB] for $189/pair which sounded reasonable. I'm kinda newbee to this whole thing and not really knowledgeable about what a Strut means. Does it include the Shocks/Springs ? I found that the front pair [part #334131 / 32] and rear pair [part #334133 / 34] KYB GR2 sealed struts with shocks costs less than $200/pair online. Do I need to change the Springs / Mounts / Coilover [what are they exactly?] along with the Strut/Shocks ? I'd be greatful for any info / pointers!! Thanks!!
  6. Hi there, It was very interesting to come across your posting while I was researching on problems very similar to the ones that you had on your ES 300. I've owned a '94 ES 300 for 1.5 yrs now and its a dream ride. Off late though, I hear the squeaks from somewhere behind me and I've been noticing the slightly bumpy ride on not so even surfaces. If you've gotten around to compiling your list and had any success with your the suspension issues, could you pleas share it with me?! Thanks a million! -Anil
  7. Thank you my friend. I'll take it to the dealer and have the seat belts fixed. I'm sure he'd come up with various explanations to work around this fed law. But, how often should the battery be replaced on es 300?
  8. Hi, I've owned this car for only 3 months now. The headlamps on my es 300 dims when I brake at nights. All other electricals are just fine. Does this translate to a battery replacement? Also, both driver and passenger seat belt latches come unhooked now and then, especially when there is a hard jerk on the seat belt. Scary...there's no point with these seat belts if there's a crash! Anyone out there have any suggestions? How much would a new battery and new seat belt latches cost? Thanks!
