Heating and Air Conditioning: All Technical Service Bulletins A/C - Solution to General Malfunctions HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING AC003-98 Title: AIR CONDITIONER MALFUNCTIONS Models: '98 GS 300/400 September 4, 1998 Introduction Some early production 1998 model year GS 300s and 400s may display one or more of the following conditions while driving with the Air Conditioner ON: ^ Air Conditioner Magnetic Clutch will not engage. ^ Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge does not function. ^ Automatic Transmission Indicator Lamp in combination meter doesn't function. ^ Outside Temperature Display indicates two centered bars illuminated (as shown in illustration) "freezes" or goes blank. ^ Blower motor inoperative NOTE: 1. Normal A/C system operation is restored after the ignition switch is cycled once. 2. Condition may be Intermittent. Affected Vehicles ^ 1998 model year GS 300s produced before VIN JT8BD68S*W0020000 and 1998 model year GS 400s produced before VIN JT8BH68X*WOOO74OO Parts Information Warranty Information Production Change Information Repair Procedure 1. If a 1998 model GS produced prior to the VIN indicated in the Production Change Information table exhibits any of the symptoms described, replace the AC ECU with an improved one as indicated in the parts information table. 2. Additionally, check the part number of the ECM and replace if it is not a current production part as indicated in the parts information table. NOTE: ECM may have been replaced with current production part for SSC WL2. Always verity involvement/completion of SSC WL2 prior to proceeding with ECM replacement. lithe vehicle is involved In SSC WL2, but does not show completion, follow SSC WL2 procedures for ECM replacement.

You will love the mx's I have them on my 93 es300 and they are quiet , smooth , and great wet traction and decent in the snow. Great choice.

I'm about to buy one from the dealer, $200, because I didn't want an off brand. What was your reason? ← I looked at alot of bras [ including lexus ] and found the colgan to be the best bra for the $ and there quality is top notch . I have them on both of my LEXUS and myfather-in law has colgans on three camry's and his LS400 for 5 years now and he lives in AZ. and never had a problem. You have to keep them clean and protected and they will stay like new for years.

2 piece sport, you can see the grille through the mesh although you could remove it or ask when ordering if they will make one without the mesh.

The cd changer goes on the drivers side behind the wheel well , The wiring harness should be there. If there was never a cd changer in the trunk then check for the wiring harness up behind the trunk liner , look good lexus hides them well. Good Luck If you need a wiring harness leave your email.

I have been contimplating this mod for about a year. It is a short air intake cut to fit a stock airfilter box. The install went very smooth and took me about an hour from start to finish. I had a polished 3" short air intake laying around and a K&N drop in filter. I decided to take out the stock intake from the throttle body to the airfilter box and custom fit the polished tube to take it's place. Worked out really well I can feel a better throttle response and acceleration is improved and it really didn't get that much louder [ I prefer it that way ] so here are some pix of the final product. Tell me what you think. B)

You have the 12 disc changer and when they go there are no more parts available to repair it with. The option is upgrading to a pioneer 6 disc from a es300. I have sold many of these and they work perfect [ plug and play ] so if you don't go aftermarket I have a 6 disc pioneer for you.

What is the mod ? You should resize the pix, TOO BIG.

Was there any cutting of the stock transmission lines with the cooler install ? Nice job I am thinking of putting one on my 98 GS3.

Isn't the gas tank right behind the rear seats in the sc ? That could be the source.

I work with this guy who has a 40th edition mustang [ 265 hp ] He can't beleive a lexus 400 puts out more hp than his mustang. Everytime I look at him he just shakes his head and I laugh. Just thought this was a good story.

Dealer says use iridium in the 400 and platinum in the 300.

I just changed the batteries on my two master keys- 98 GS300 [ going on a trip ] and sure enough one key broke where the screw is :cries: and now the screw doesn't hold it together but the other key is in perfect working order . I'll use the broken one for a backup. I am currently holding it together with scotch tape , How cheap is that ?

Yes you can have it bench tested, The amp is on the passenger side behind the glovebox. If you need one I have one .

I have MICHELINS on both of my cars. XGTV4'S on my GS3 and MX'S on the ES3. Get at least V'S better off with Z'S. ;)

Compliments , Back in the day when they first were doing van conversions the moonroof was a stationary tinted window on the roof, Then they made the window slide to the rear of the vehichle and thus named the sunroof. I am going back 30 years at least. Come to think of it the first sunroof that I remember tilted up. Oh well !!!!
