  1. wwest, have you tried using a resistor yourself & if so, how much fuel economy did you attain? also, what are the advantages and/or disadvantages of doing this modification? can you also specifically point out the 4 or 5 point location on the connector please. thanks.
  2. Can you please elaborate on this 1/4 watt resistor mod? Thanks.
  3. Just replaced the 3 wiper blades of my 99 rx300 with ultra silblades, these are like $16.50 each inclusive of shipping but they're warranteed for 5 years. These may sound expensive compared to the entry rack models ($5-8) but compared to the high end ones ($10-15), these are good buy especially with the 5 yr free replacement warrantee. Was also planning to just replace the inserts before to somehow save but after computing the semi or annual changing costs & time you have to deal with these inexpensive blades, buying the ultra silblades seems reasonable in the long run. I did my research on the web on this product as well before buying. Just my 2 cents.
  4. mind sharing this manual, my email address is golfinbud@comcast.net, my mail service can surely handle any large file. thanks is advance.
  5. After raising the same issue with the dealer where I bought my 1999 RX300, I've been told by their mechanic (after checking the alignment, tire pressures & doing tire rotation) that there's this natural tendency for these light to med AWD SUVs to pull (to the left in my case) even you're in a leveled road because of the vehicle's powertrain design (being the engine mounted crosswise unlike to the bigger SUVs where engines are parallel to the chassis) where even transfer of power from the engine, tranny to the wheels are more of a suitable design for 4x4 or AWD . How true is this claim remains to be seen - considering that these are high priced vehicles, just hard to imagine that this can be a flaw in Lexus'es design (like their trannies) although there's still that possiblity especially mine being their first year to come out with the RX. I just don't pay that much attention to this problem anymore but of course the proper solution is out there and will surely be a convenience if this will be addressed accordingly, so that somehow I can relax my hands from keeping my wheels drive straight.
  6. My parking brake pedal seems to be close to the floor to be enabled. I'm not sure if the parking brakes on the 99 RX300 are self-adjusting and if so, it seems not to have adjusted accordingly. By rear pads are less than 10K and has alot left in it. Has anybody experienced the same and have adjusted the parking brake pedal to specs (how many clicks?). Appreciate any input.
  7. Did you just put new seal over the old or did you go thru the oven process - resealing the whole unit? Where did you get this neoprene rubber sealant and for how many you used to a headlight and how much it cost? Thanks.
  8. I have the same problem with my 1999 RX300, tried to vacuum the water out but that was just a temp fix, had the same the following day. What I can say from all the postings is that I have to either replace the unit with a OEM one or go thru the trouble of taking of the headlight myself and resealing the unit. My only issue on resealing it is, will putting sealant over the current one will work? Or I have to strip the old seal (by oven, I don't know how logical is this - read from some thread that you can take out the old seal by putting the headlight unit in the oven a the lowest temp for a number of minutes, of course that's after taking off the rubber parts and bulbs - but this is still a big question mark for me) and apply a new seal (clear, high temp exposure & highest quality you can get from Home Depot) in as what have worked for some others. Any feedback will be very much appreciated.
  9. Mind emailing me the wiring diagram/s, need to work on my 1999 rx300. Thanks. golfinbud@comcast.net
  10. Well, unfortunately, it's already in the $3 range for me. =( I'm a little surprised to see such a huge jump to 21.5 mpg from the synthetic oil and the tranny filter. I switched to synthetic too and I think it helped maybe +1mpg. Can you give more details on this tranny filter? I'm most interested in improving city mileage... which means weight reduction more than aerodynamics. I like pulling the spare idea, but being stranded with a flat does not sound appealing. ← Check out this link: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...hl=rx300+filter I'm surprised myself on this jump in gas savings. Did reset mileage computer a number of times to verify this but still comes out the same. On the city mileage, I likewise do check my tire pressure regularly and somehow reduced my aggressiveness in driving (i.e. easy on the gas pedal & cruising to a stop sign/light). On pulling the spare, just make sure you're getting this tire sealer that is matched for an SUV ($6.5 at Advance Auto) the rest are for smaller cars and I also to have a small compressor on board as well which still a combined weight of the two - beats the weight of a spare. On long drives/trips, it's just logical to load your spare.
  11. Thanks for the link. A bit on the high end $180 (pricewise) but seems like a good investment in the long run. Sun Automotive also offers ground voltage mods, how do you think would the ones in Ebay compare?
  12. With the cost of gas most likely to stay in the $2+ (hopefully not $3+), I would like to get your input on gas saving modifications and/or suggestions. Use to get 16.5 mpg but after taking off my roof rack, mud guards, spare tire (now I just have this quick seal for tires like some of the beemers do) & all unnecessary stuff out of the RX - I was consuming 18.5 mpg. Was still not satisfied, I switched to Amsoil synthethic motor oil (for "better mileage" as they claim and longer use life) and installed a aux tranny filter (preventive maintainance as these tranny's fluid are known to get black prematurely compared to others) and now I'm getting 21.5 mpg (all city). I got my baby just tuned (new plugs, belts, K&N air filter) before all of this. I'll try cleaning the MAF sensor then see if mpg improved and perhaps install new ground wires and also see if this will help as well. Anybody who have done this, would appreciate your input. Tranny filter installation from skperformance is highly advisable, starting to see the effects of it. Just on my first week and t. fluid is better looking than ever. I find this site very useful compared to the other lexus forums primarily because to the more people posting and replying. Kudos to all ye administrators and those who share their experiences and know-how.
  13. 1999 RX300 AWD 93,500 Everything's fine except that my tranny fluid gets dark even after a flush/change. Will install a secondary filter as skperformance did on his, hoping this would somehow help.
  14. Read from one posting on just cleaning out the filter itself, if you find that it's really dirty you can go ahead a replace it, otherwise Toyota OEM cabin a/c filter is washable, just have the time and patience to clean it. :) Check out this link: http://rx300how2.home.comcast.net/cabin_ac_air_filter.htm
  15. Anybody experienced hard shifting from park to reverse? No matter how hardly the brake pedal is floored I still get the same results. 1999 RX300 88K.
