  1. What makes you think finding a decent SC and swapping the motor is going to cost you less than a Dodge Neon?
  2. I would find a SC300 in good shape and put a turbo on the existing motor. But that's just me. If you put 10K on top of the initial cost of the car - you'll be at 500+ horsepower on a NA-T. I found one already turboed. They are out there.
  3. All factory parts are compatible. If you go with a body kit, you will want to consider the lower door panels as well to provide a smooth fit between the door and sideskirts. The headlights are the same 92-00. The fog lights changed in 97 and 92 to 94 were a cornering lamp style function. Part numbers
  4. 1. You'd have to call on the clutch thing. If it runs the same 5 speed as the SC300 then mkiv 5 speed clutch options will work. You'll have to ask about the 6 speed clutches but I do not think they will work. 2. Get a 5speed ecu from a 5 speed soarer. 3. Not really. Try looking here
  5. I like clifford products. There are alot of options though.
  6. If the disc can not be removed easily, return the shoe adjuster until the wheel turns freely. There is a plug in the rotor that can be turned with a flathead - the plug will need to be at the bottom in a 6:00 position to turn the adjuster.
  7. I've been entertaining this idea as well. There are many ways to do it. This should work. Caveat emptor as always.
  8. The entire package tray as it is referred to. The sub woofer/third tail high lamp cover should be removed ahead of the tray. The speakers unbolt from there. Need more? diagram
  9. Walbro is good - whiney. You could use a mkiv tt pump. Actually, probably use Soarer GTT - the 1jz ecu to run the motor in stock form would be fine.
  10. 1 10" in the rear deck, nakamichi or pioneer.
  11. Alright! Welcome my man. The Aristo V300 is your Japanese counter part - if you didn't know that already. You really don't need to swap motors but if that is your huckleberry then go for it. I'm a big supporter of the na-t conversion on the GE motor. Just slap a turbo on there and go. Either way there are a few routes you can take. I'm not versed with the GS/Aristo layout but I will assume that the aristo runs a side mount stock. So the GS engine bay will have the holes in it for the intercooler and intake plumbing. Go with a front mount. You could just bolt a GTE head on to the ge block if you want the turbos - or buy the whole kaboodle. Sound Performance out of Chicago, Toyomoto out of Miami, and SP Engineering out of somewhere in Cali, as well as PHR in Texas, and Rollhard/Performance Factory in New York or is it New Jersey? need a turbo? the masters in Chi-town Phil's book Phil wrote a book on dropping the GTE into the JZZ31 and it could help to give you perspective on the job. Your going to have to consider wiring and all that good stuff as I'm sure you know. Good thing is you've got a 1994 so there is no obdII or vvti to worry about. There is much more but - google will help. I can get you more links if you need it.
  12. Wow, yea - that is high. I replaced a starter on the previous 300 model at 95,000. The starter on the current model was replaced at 40,000. So, I guess it depends. Next time give us a holler about the problem, maybe we can help a little. I'd recommend a quality independent mechanic over any car dealership service department any day.
  13. The GS300 will have an inline 6 cylinder. And it looks just like that. The engine bay won't be filled up but I don't know what kind of bueaty covers they had on that model. I'd sell that cover stuff anyways. But that is just me. The GS400 will have a V8, the whole engine bay will be filled up with motor and components. That's the best way I could describe it to a person unfamiliar with the difference between an inline and v block. General rules for looking at a used car apply. Feel free to share tricks. I usually inspect headlights, undercarraige, hinges, engine seals, cleanliness, paint, and ask the owner/seller a lot of questions. Some general info that might help Welcome. We are still building a member base and positive participation is very valuable while negative participation does not allow the distinction that is desired of a quality owner's club. Good luck to you. Feel free to pm me with any questions.
  14. Try this: Maybe they can help Is it the just the valve - you can reverse the vacuum lines and the valve will shut or open depending on what you need. Then disconnect. That is what others have done. They reconnect when they need heat or whatever for the winter. I know it is not fixing the problem but dealing with it and it is cheaper - maybe easier. I'll try to get more info on that. Where in Chicagoland are you at? I'm from Gurnee originally.
  15. Yes. Overdrive schmoverdrive. Turn it on to save fuel at highway speeds, leave it on, leave it off. It doesn't matter. For OEM parts - I like e-bay. There is Carson Toyota, contact Steve Ganz. Also, I have had decent luck with Sewell Lexus. But there is always a little mark up. Some sites: Toyota parts - see supra ( I just bought a used starter, alternator, power steering pump and high pressure lines and underdrive pulleys for 175$ from an internet contact. :whistles: here's another one for ya Google can yeild tons of results for this stuff. I have some stuff and sometimes I'm willing to share. ;) Tein's are good - heard they can be a little too rough for a daily driver - good combinations: eibach with kyb agx Parts designated for sc300, mkiv na, or mkiv tt (different height and perfomance specs.) series application. If you switch to mkiv set-up you must replace the entire strut assembly. I'm waiting for a JIC FLTA2 set-up. Complete adjustable coilover suspension regarded as the best for our application. Approximately $1500 after discount, but well worth it from what I understand. But others have used tein and felt just fine with them. Can't go wrong either way IMO. Get a torque converter from Precision Industries for that slushbox. A tranny cooler is recommended with this. I hear it is the best first thing for those granny shifting Lexus autos.
  16. The rear speakers are bolted to the rear deck frame. You'll have to remove the carpet cover. In the trunk there is a false wall that comes out easily. Pull it and you have access to the rear speaker undersides. The door speakers involve pulling the door cover to do it right. But the cloth screen cover can be removed and you can access the speaker. Hard to get the screws though.
  17. 1. I think so. 2. yes 3. some sort of fuel delivery hardware and software - fuel pump, intercooler, gauges, electronics. You'll need some cajones and $$$ and good jdm parts connection. Good luck.
  18. Okay - that's news to me. Sorry. No need to yell. I haven't had this problem. Wish I could help more. I have factory schematics if they are needed. If the amp is in the trunk on UZZ3X models, then it is possible that water got into them. There are drain tubes from the fill cap and moon roof that terminate just under the CD player. If those hoses are leaking or the drains are plugged, then there is a liquid short. The amp will need to be replaced or repaired if that is the case. I would recommend relocating it as well.
  19. Strange, my 95 has r134a stickers all over the hood on the inside.
  20. I do most of my work for 1/6 of your estimates. Even private mechanics can take care of these items at much less cost. You lose the factory trace on service, but save your receipts and you have the same thing. Please see the link above or the faq for information on maintenance items. 21. 92-2000 SC series are the best cars on earth. It's a fact, I read it somewhere. read this
  22. HA HA
  23. Any similar amp will work. I have a pioneer - had a sony in the other. The stock amp is under the back seat though. I think that is myrobyte's hack. I bought a car from him once. Small world I guess. If your trying to save money, you can go get a decent amp and two tens in a box. Put some aftermarket six mids in there. To test your speakers just take one that is known to work and plug it in off the speaker in question. If the known speaker works, then your speaker is blown. If not, you have a wiring, head or amp problem.
  24. The factory service manuals are the best. PM me if you need some.
  25. 2JZ-GTE - na/tt - SC300 97-00 conversion a little turbo faq for the SC
