  1. I just read a lot. A lot of people have done a lot of work ahead of me. I can't take credit for it. But I can help pass the word. I read the factory service manuals and talk to people all over the place. I've always loved cars and the SC is one damn fine automobile. Anyone could and do know a whole lot more. I just thought it would be cool to have it all - or as much of it as possible - in one forum w/o the b.s. Thanks though. I like helping and it helps me learn more about these excellent cars. By the way - I am in no way affiliated with Lexus. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't like to be.
  2. yup 77k is nuffin. make sure the 60k tune-up was done and the oil is changed nice n regular - good to go.
  3. Honda does not suck. It is just not Lexus. Some hondas may suck, I've seen Lexus that suck too though. A car is only as good as its owner.
  4. Note any settings that you would like to retain - i.e. radio stations, seat and steering wheel, etc. Disconnect the battery for 5 minutes. Reconnect your battery. Take the car for a short drive. Let it cool down. Re-run the diagnostic. Note your codes. You want to reset your mil and see what happens. The other codes may have come up incidentally. Make sure everything was reassembled correctly. If you get a code 45 again, you will have to use an ohmeter to check the circuit on your tps connector. Or take a risk and buy a tps. But that could be expensive. I'd recommend getting the manuals or taking it to a tech. I don't have the time now to look those up - but if I get a chance today, I will post the codes and a better solution. Good luck.
  5. Hi there StanBo. Welcome to the club. Great car. Get a turbo. Talk to Vinny out at Rollhard. I'm thinking maybe you know Osofast240? Turn that GS into a highway killer. A 240 eh? Don't cringe but I was thinking about building up one for the track next year. If you come across any project cars for sale, let me know. Come by anytime, come by all the time.
  6. It is recommended to change belts every 60k miles. I thing it would be a good idea to do a complete tune-up on that car. Great car by the way and welcome to the club. Exo is right. Get a torque converter and free up that slushbox. Have the a/c inspected when you get your tune-up. Welcome to the USLOC.
  7. Sorry man.... I'm serious this time. ;) There are other good cars for the money out there. But the SC series is the best I can think of. By the way, welcome to the USLOC Redlude. I don't have any times on my car yet. I'd expect 13. I'd love 12 though. We'll see. Stock times are in the faq. Let us know about any other questions you may have.
  8. That is very interesting stuff. Thanks man.
  9. Those things alone will not guarantee no problems. Step up slow and consult a shop that is real good with the stuff if you are not experienced. That is one quick way to shred a motor.
  10. Sort of. I know a guy who will do it relatively cheaper. Let me see if he will come by.
  11. What is safe? Technically, nothing. Several safegaurds can and should be installed with nitrous oxide systems. The best bang for the dollar is N^2O. Wet, dry, direct. If not mistaken, a wet system is a direct system. Dry shots are run through the intake. Wet are with the fuel. Direct port is directly injected into the comdustion chamber. I would venture to say the SC300/400 could handle up to 100 shot with proper fuel. I wouldn't squeeze that much though. At 65$ and hour I would expect to pay 800-900$ for install including purchase price. A good shop will have you come back for inspections to make sure things are going ok. Go with colder plugs - an ignition amplifier is a good idea. Some extra fuel will help too. Then the shop will will step up the jets from like 50 to 80 and finally 100 if all is good. The type depends. As long as safegaurds are there. Like bottle pressure warning and other stuff.
  12. Nothing compare to the Lex. Best car money can buy.
  13. Driver side kick panel just beneath the dash.
  14. So I got a chance to dig around. code 45 = main throttle position sensor circuit malfunction. So it is your tps sensor. It is dirty or bad or loose wires or something. Check your throttle cable and stuff. Clean out your throttle body. Go from there. Either of the following occurs for .12 seconds. 1. IDL switch of main throttle position sensor is on. 2. Input voltage of trac ecu terminal vth: 1.45 V or more. *main tps *open in vtlh circuit *short in IDL1 circuit *ECM *TRAC ECU
  15. YES. I do.
  16. Yes, most places will only warranty the TC if a tranny cooler is installed with it. Just something to keep in mind. Don't know of any rebuild kits.
  17. Torque converter is excellent idea. Then a tranny cooler. I wouldn't waste money on an intake system. Drop in a reusable filter element - clean it every 5,000miles and hack up the stock box bfi style. You can open the exhaust for some growl. That's about it. Or you can wire in an fuel controller and try to lean rich out the a/f for a little something here or there. Do it on a dyno though. You can always squeeze some naws in there.
  18. There was a compressor on Ebay. Also www.taprecycling.com has parts.
  19. Welcome. I looked up code 45 and found nothing. It might be somewhere I'm not looking. Don't have time to dig around though. Maybe someone else can locate it. Or try looking at the trc sensor located on the throttle body just behind the tps sensor. I beleive there is a secondary butterfly there that could be dirty or stuck or the trc sensor is buggered. Good luck.
  20. Those are all good ideas. The r134 is weak comparted to the r12. Can r12 even be used anymore? Good ideas there, but I have no idea about modifying the condensor. Go for it.
  21. Um - yea.
  22. Sorry, I guess that picture does not have all the lights. I'm do not have access to my car so- I can not assist now. Maybe someone else can - or I will have some info later.
