  1. Never heard that - sorry.
  2. When looking for parts it may be possible to mention membership of an enthusiast club - the United States Lexus Owners' Club, for examp;e - and ask if the vendor or sellor is willing to give a discount in exchange for positive feedback in a forum such as this. Perhaps some Lexus dealers would be interested in this type of feedback. That was the intention of the thread mentioning the discount. Not sure why that link is dead but I'll check it out. Anytime aftermarket brands are considered, quality needs to be accounted for. Things like pcv valves are usaully pretty simple devices and aftermarket pieces are just fine. Always ask about a warranty on aftermarket items - like starters and the like. There are ways to get around high cost parts. The distributor cap for example, may be sourced from toyota a little cheaper (who knows) - I haven't yet tried. But the 93 to 97 supra na has the same motor. NAPA or other car parts chains may be able to cross reference a suitable aftermarket piece. Call them and tell them what you are looking for with vehicle and engine info - ie 6 cylinder SC300. They probably can offer a cap, plugs and wires cheaper. I don't know the manufacturers of those items off hand. Typical toyota suppliers are Nippon Denso, Sumitomo, NTK and millions more. There is always the potential for a deal. I often check for used or off hand parts in classified forums and in salvage yards like www.taprecyling.com, or ebay. That's all I've really got for now. Keep looking - let us know of any great deals or good sites. At 17% off, the site linked sounds pretty good. Let us know how it works out. I'll see what else we can dig up. Good luck. Keep surfing.
  3. I must have one. I have had 0 luck finding one. dammit.
  4. mmmm.... not really.

    03 Cobra?

Ha ha - I was waiting for you to show up Lextreme. So I'm willing to concede - I'll watch out for those Cobra's. Isn't yours for sale David?

    03 Cobra?

This is a good discussion. I feel it would be better suited for the general discussions forum though. Keep it coming. I've got links on the cobra - but it is not street trim that they are hitting 12's with. I have no times with our car yet, but if I put space saver spares and run some mickey's - I could hit 12 too. Maybe.
  7. You can do it! Or your local reputable shop can do it! If you do it, you should get your hands on the factory service manual. It is very necessary.

    03 Cobra?

;) These times come from what magazine? Show me slips. I fear no neon and no stock Cobra.

    03 Cobra?

Depends on who is driving :P I have no idea. My money is on the SS.

    03 Cobra?

12's from the factory? Not without a gear change. A neon srt - beating a 12 sec cobra? Highly unlikely. 1 is a dodge, the other is a ford. Need I say more? Cobra's are cool cars. I wouldn't buy one.
  11. Maybe. I never did get any slips with the first one. Never made it to the track.
  12. I guess I'm not understanding. Does the trunk close? And you can open it with the key in the lock only - correct? But you want to open it with the key button? That was only available in 1998+. Does the release inside the car work? I might need to see a picture. I'm confused.
  13. I have no idea. You should call the vendor and your port authority.
  14. I suppose you could give a look at the bushings and related pivot points - make sure your power steering is working right like exo says. Are you the first ower of this car? If not, the power steering may have been tricked. There is a way to make the steering more firm with less power assist. I'm not up to speed on the details tough.
  15. The antenna looks to me like one of the older style car phone antennas with the curly que thing. It comes right out of the top of the back window in the drawing. I'm not sure what you've got there vasso - it might be it.
  16. Tom, There is a seperate antenna, microphone, radio reciever set up handset, transceiver, command module, and speaker relay. It is a lot of stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the wiring is there - but I would be surprised if all of it is if the car was not originally equipped with the option. That would not be a task I would want to take on. Why not just a regular cell phone, or aftermarket hands free? That would be the most cost effective solution. Unless you can find the parts used or at a good price somewhere. Good luck.
  17. Well, there you have it. I need to update the faq. I guess some links are dead.
  18. A/C charging is something that is not advisable for the shadetree mechanic - due to legal issues (EPA) and what not. It is not expensive to get a recharge - I'd just take it to a reputable shop.
  19. Make sure the factory alarm system is not activated. Deactivate it by manually locking and unlocking the driver side door. Make sure the battery has a charge. The battery in the key should not affect the starting of the car unless the starter cut is active off of the alarm.
  20. My .02$ - The 1jz is not supported in the states. It will be hard to get replacement parts, support and it will not pass emissions in Cali. It is a great motor and if that is what the enthusiast wants - by all means go for it. It will be expensive and difficult. More so than the 2jz-gte. Best bang for the $ is to slap a turbo on a GE motor. This isn't the first time or the last time I will type this statement.
  21. Yes it is very debateable. Basically, a filter is a filter. The oem filter will need to be replaced periodically. Probably more often than once a year. Most of the time, during every oil change they are inspected and probably replace on average of every two oil changes or 6,000 miles depending on how dirty they are. A drop in replacement from something like k&n is nice because they are permanent and washable and boast less restriction. Then you have those cone filter replacements.
  22. The trunk release from the cabin is electronic. Something is wrong in that circuit. I'll try to get some info - buisy again today. :( Hmm, okay. So you're correct. The fuel lid is not in the system. 1. Luggage compartment door opener main switch and opener switch circuit. 2. luggage compartment door opener motor circuit. 3. theft deterrent and door lock control ecu. Is your key battery replaced yet? If so, do your doors work off the remote key? - oh wait - your not the one with the dead key battery - nevermind
  23. Cool. Nice job.
  24. The manifolds are different. The valves are different size. You will not be able to bolt a gte manifold to a ge head. You could swap the head, but for the trouble, you may as well swap the whole motor. Or just turbo the ge with parts already abvailable.
