Finally A Video Of My Run At The Strip!
AWJ replied to quikturbo's topic in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
Chris, is that video quicktime format? I can't get it to play in Windows Media - divx? Music sounds good - but I wanna see the car. Okay - got it to work on the old player. Nice run man. Cool club too. -
Glad to hear the timing belt thing is straitened out. Get those leaks fixed. It sounds like the piece you are talking about is the maf - It might measure temperature as well - but that's a new one on me. What year is this 400? Also, if the car has been run on low coolant there could be some other damage - has it ever overheated? Keep in mind that when a timing belt breaks, there is opportunity for hard crash. I think the 1uz is a non-interference motor but I will need to check up on that. As long as your mechanics did not indicate an issue, this point is probably not a problem. You may want to get a second opinion in person though. Good luck.

I guess it really depends on what all was changed. Pads can wear out quickly if driving is "spririted". Were the rotors turned? $600 is a little steep considering a basic brake job is really pretty strait forward. It's hard to say if it truely is normal - but if the owner is uncerntain, it is always advisable to get a second opinion from a nuetral source that can physically inspect the situation. I'm gonna drop this over to the LS forum though for you too.

Bloomingdale - that's what I meant. D'oh - it's been too long. Thanks Chris. ;)

Sound Performance. One of the best. They are in the Bollingbrook area or something like that I think. I've been there once. One of the best shops I've ever seen.

We missed our mark big time. The blackout of 2003 ruined the rally. But we ran anyways. And had a lot of fun. I apologize if anyone went to any of the listed locations. The entire plan had to be re written. Great people though and an excellent time once things started moving. See pics in the galleries once I get them loaded.

JPI is qualified to answer from what I understand as well as anyone else that would know the answer. If the information has not made it to you yet, please pm me and I will get it. Best of luck, AJ

Those are some cool cats! B)

If you have the ecu and pinouts info for the #2 option, then you can make your own harness. Takes a long time. Some companies can make them for you. Or try a standalone from the basic SDS all the way up to AEM piece. What is the question? I don't recommend a 1jz swap but the 1 and 2 choices sound basically the same.

I couldn't view your pictures but one great place to get used parts is taprecylcing - google it. Good luck. Sorry to hear about the accident. Gotta love deer

A +45 should clear. The only way to know for sure if you will clear without test fitting is to order a set of wheels for a Supra. You can use a tap measure to check clearance also.

Well... I'll be. I heard the rumors before. A 3.3 v6. *!Removed! noise* Sorry - I had chili. Seriously though, thanks for the links. I guess it is definitely coming by. I'd like to see a 9 spoke 18" wheel and a hard top non convertible from.
-
Well thank you and welcome. I have no idea about any SC330 though. I wish they would have kept the old chassis actually. But change is progress eh? Maybe someone else here has the scoop.

I put fiber sills on last night. I was not impressed with the fit. The passenger side fit fine but the other side was a little shorter. I haven't put my radiator garnish up yet. They say lexus as well. But I have a chrome griffin I will put on the front eventually.

That car is a t70 with a gte shortblock (the ge shortblock got shreaded when one of the clutch/flywheel assy let loose) - the head is our na/GE head with the toyomoto stuff on it. It is also running a Haltec e6 (I think) complete standalone with getrag 6 speed. lsd, big brakes, Wald body kit, some sweet wheels I can't remember the name of, full audio visual (or it used to have - he may have sold that stuff separate) and complete line of complimentary electronics one would expect for a car modified as much. Not to mention all the other stuff like TRD steering wheel, suspension, etc. Sweet car.

This is it folks. Leaving tomorrow. Come by the show in Chicago. Or see us on the way. :P

Damn, I thought they had airbags. Go figure. I just like the griffen. Airbags are over rated anyways. But if I do it, I'll wait for a black one to come around.
-
Sorry, not that I know of.
-
Yea LOL. I've been watching it. But I don't think it fits in my plan right now. I would need to die it black anyways. All I really want is just the airbag. B)

Sound Performance out of Chicago area produces a beautiful equal length runner turbo header fashioned directly from the HKS units. This piece is very nice and co$t$. Then there is the Performance Factory/Rollhard piece (New York/Jersey area) that is also equal length and features indy style collectors. I actually had my hands on the PF unit and was going to use it - but fate stepped in the way. IT was a nice piece as well. I found it used (wich can be a very good way to save $$). Also, I hear Toyomoto has come up with a header style turbo manifold. So the options are there. Expect to pay at least 1600$ for a used piece depending. New units go from 1800$+ depending on options like heat coating/SS/ceramic etc. Expect to pay over 2g's for a SP or Toyomoto unit.

Total waste in my humble opinion. Any centrifugal set-up can be modified to work though. But for the price, why not go turbo?? From efficiency, performance and $$ standpoint - I can find no winning argument. But I'm biased.

This dog won't hunt. :( This bird ain't gonna fly. <_< It ain't looking good folks.

12 sec 1/4 will all come down to traction. I know a guy who went from high 300's to low 500's and his quarter mile time did not change at all. Food for thought there. Most guys running 12's and up can do it with 400 to 600 ponies wich you will make easily on a well tuned entry level set-up. Just get your driving and traction issues solved. Then you have only power limitations. I'm running a Toyomoto manifold (log style) without the external gate option. My turbo is internally gated, (something that will change next year - but then the manifold will need modification) - the TT manifolds will not fit. There are lots of options. Truely more than I have time to mention now. Money is the factor. I can get you information if you are serious. I also mentioned the car in Miami that is for sale. Already built. The guy really needs to sell and the car is done up to the T. But if you want to build it, ask away. There are some references in the faq I'd recommend checking out as well. Good luck.

I will ask again how a custom shortened lever is not a functional shorter throw? The TRD piece for JZA80 NA 5speed "should" work. But it is not worth 300 to 500$ in my opinion. Drag cars and track drivers actually have higher sticks on their manuals to bring the distance from the steering wheel to the stick down. So where is the true functionality really at? Just thinking out loud. The JZZ30 is the Jspec version of the SC300. It is the Soarer TT. Our SC300 is the the JZZ31 so that part should work as well.
