Hiya Dave. We have an approved vendor in the UK forum that goes by the name of Midas. They are a little steep but not 300$ if I recall correctly. They can ship you emblems for a little less. Also, I'm not sure, but JPI might be able to get you some. If those don't work out - you could use your chrome emblems and have them plated. The real deal emblems are metal, not plastic. 3M makes a very nice double sided tape that is typically used on the backing of the emblems. I don't know the name though. Or you could try painting your emblems. I've considered black pearl myself and will probably do that eventually.

Turbo 2jz-ge - How Many Miles Till They Pop.
AWJ replied to caffeine655's topic in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
I can spin tires going into third. A supercharged mustang at only 9 psi doesn't scare me. Depending on where he hits that shot, he would probably get me though. Until the shot is used up - or he holds it and blows. Either way. I got him top end. I'd eat him on the interstate. He'd take me in the quarter if he hits the juice. If he is running a staged hit, I would stand no chance with my car. Then gears come into play too, if he has any weight reduction that could pose more problems too. -
Tyler - the faq has tons of links on turbos and other stuff. Good luck.

Will A Bfi Affect A Turbo Upgrade Later?
AWJ replied to shinryuhoshi's topic in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
You are correct. The stock intake will be trashed when you get a turbo - an aftermarket intake would probably be trashed too. If you want a bfi in the meantime. Go for it. -
Here Is What One Crook Is Doing ,saying He Is Sell
AWJ replied to SKperformance's topic in General Chat
Sorry Sharad, that just looks like one overpriced hotwheels police RX. The price is high but someone might think it is worth it. If everyone is satisfied, I don't see how that makes him a crook. -

My CAD skills are fairly good actually. But that was not me. Some engineer for toyota probably did that. -
It's all good babe. You know you can resize those pics? Open them in paint - click on the image tab. Go down to the stretch/skew option. Or you can check attributes a little further down. Note how many pixels by how many pixels - say 800 L by 800 W. The go to stretch/skew. Take a percentage of that. A good avatar would be 100x100. So go 10% by 10% and save it where you can find it later under a different name so you can keep your original image size. Then come here and click on your control panel. The avatar option is on the left side of that page in a list. You'll have to look for it. Then after you click it, you can upload your avatar. If it is too big, it will tell you. And you will have to resize like that until it will fit. Same for signature. Just browse your drive, insert your file name, click upload - and the rest is magic. If you need help resizing just PM me. I'll help you out. An off topic pic every once in a while is no problem. But every post can get bothersome for some people. Like people on dial-up.

Turbo 2jz-ge - How Many Miles Till They Pop.
AWJ replied to caffeine655's topic in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
Yea, we have a few high horse power v8's in the area to fear. But I haven't met them yet. I suppose once I do, I'll either pic up a A/C Cobra kit car or try to build the SC further. But the SC is going to CO$T in order to hang with anyone under 12. 11 is definitely possible I suppose with some further work. But tens - hmm. Now we are talkin' $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. -
Wow. It does look like that here. What a nice sky! That's a nice looking sky. Is that your new bowl? I might borrow that pic and stick it in the workshop thread too.
-
Yea, most cars are set-up like that.
-
I might suggest reducing the size of that picture if you want to use it on every post. Maybe use it as an avatar. That could be a cool thing going for ya. Then start shopping for your turbo set-up. The SC300 forum faq has several links to various companies that offer turbo set-ups. Feel free to browse and ask any more specific questions. Enjoy your IS. ;)

Lift the hood and look down at the back side of the headlight. You are looking for a fluid filled cylinder. There should be a screw either coming out of that cylinder or near by. Take a phillips head and adjust until the bubble is in the middle of the level. Aim the headlights strait on to a wall. Check the line and see if it is satisfactory for you. If not readjust. Take it for another night drive and make sure you are satisfied with the vision ahead. If not readjust. If people still flash their lights, put on your brites and show 'em who's boss. Don't do it to a cop though.

You have a high compression motor. Do yourself a favor and use the good gas. Give me your e-mail addy via pm and I will send you the diagnostic procedure tomorrow. It could be anything from a dirty air filter to a bad catlytic converter.

I'll take a Sound Performance set-up over anything. But toyomoto is very good too if you can get a hold of someone over there. I say SP first because they answer the phone. I went to see their facility in person and spoke to the guys there. Very helpful. I saw Ebanks fully worked motor and many other project cars. Any future work I do or have done will be through this shop. For budget items I'd say DaveH is the way to go. But labor will always hit ya'. You will truly save money by doing it yourself. But then again, you might not. I used to say there is nothing wrong with f-max until I saw and drove a car with it. I would recommend something else. -
As long as it has the inline 6 so you can put a turbo on it. ;)

Looking To Purchase My First Sc300 For Boosting :)
AWJ replied to BoostCrazy's topic in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
Andrew (good name by the way - mine too) I would recommend you find a SC3 5 speed to start with. It will make things much easier and probably a little cheaper in the long run. This will allow to not worry about the clutch pedal and all that as well as the computer. So you want a 5 speed. That is not impossible - just limit your search to that and you may need to be willing to travel and possibly pay just a little more initially. (It will be worth it.) If you are planning to swap the motor, one with high miles won't be a problem. You are from supraforums - so you probably know the handle SoAngel. He is also selling his car. It is an aem car, also with Sound Performance parts (I sold him the fuel rail that I bought from Ebanks) - also top notch stuff. You could try to get a hold of him. Also our user Spruce SC300 has his for sale in our buy sell forum - he is in Florida. As far as putting a six speed in. The tranny tunnel will need to be hammered out (according to someone I spoke to in the past). Unless you buy a 1995 to 1997 manual JZZ31. -

That price range is about right on. You already know what you need to being a surpa guy and all - But since you already have a supra - why not do a fully built auto? I know of one that has your name on it - Check this out -

Oh my. I forgot Dallas. You never hear of Clint Pohler? PHR? There are quite a few running around there in Texas. These are not like your finiky 13b's. Those things pop their top faster than a drunk !Removed! 18 year old girl on spring break. ;) Don't get me wrong, great cars - but always under the knife. -
Lubed and ready to go baby. B) Complete with the plastic cover lextech was referring to and ribbed for her pleasure. Bought them from Sewell Lexus. You're other joke went over my head. I'm up late sometimes - I miss things - like right now. I should be in bed. It is 2:30 am and I have to at work at 6am to do a training seminar for our technicians. <_< I woke up at 5am yesterday and slept 2 hours when I got home today. I have not used royal purple but I'm considering it. There are fine products from red line as well that a few guys are using in the tranny and differentials. But you can only do this on the manual trannies. If you are auto, do not deviate from the toyota fluid.

Turbo 2jz-ge - How Many Miles Till They Pop.
AWJ replied to caffeine655's topic in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
I have not had any issues for a the year I have had the car. The guys who are hard on the car see tranny failures first. Clutches shred. Easily upgraded. I know of a 500+ rwhp SC at stock compression running the stock 5 speed that is still running strong at 140k+ miles. Overall, they are very reliable until you start doing hard launches and cranking the boost way up. Then you should start considering lowering compression and tranny changes. I have run 20 psi on one occasion or two at 10:1. I don't recommend it though. Most guys are sticking to 12 psi or so on stock compression and lately, when the car does get a rare excersize, she has been set low at 8 or so psi. Still runs away from most cars around here. There are more turbo Lexus out there than you think. We are just typically not as loud about it if you know what I mean. I know of 4 in my immediate area (100 mile radius). If go out 200 to 300 miles, I can think of 20. That is still a relatively low number but there are many more out there hiding. There are quite a few in the Florida area, New York, Eastern seaboard, California, a few in Ohio, Chicago, Wisconsin, Kansas, ummm.... I think you get the idea. My car is rated right around 350 rwhp at moderate boost according to the dyno from the previous owner. I still have yet to put her on the rollers. I also have not had the opportunity to put her on the track. On one 20 psi street pull, I ran down a R1 (debatably - not sure how hard he was on the throttle) - he was very surprised to see a lexus creep past him at a high rate of speed. Never did get to talk to the guy but the way he looked over as I went by told me enough. The 500 hp sc in the area clicked a high 12 due to traction problems. That was the same time as he was running at high 300 hp. With slicks and a good driver - at 350 rwhp, 12's are not unreasonable. I hope to get some 1/8 and 1/4 mile runs posted, videoed, and documented next season. I need locate a good source of turbo blue. -
:whistles: Yea babe. Turbo. B)

Here is the deal. I'm thinkin Tuner Bash 2004. We roll down with as many people as possible. Meet up with members along the way. Florida guys meet us in Daytona. 600 North. This ish is hot. I'm checking out info now. I really want to do this. This is conditional on the car though. I need to do a tear down and overhaul between now and March. This occurs during spring break for most major colleges so if we are going to do this, we will need to get on the ball and secure some lodging. Not sure how to coordinate that. Post ideas. I'll start a new thread if there is not much input here. I'm going either way - just hope my car is ready.
