What was that LT1 rated at? 350 maybe if not less. Keep in mind, oem hp ratings are at the crank. Not the wheels. Even then, most oem's exaggerate their hp ratings grossly. Of course his 20" inch spinners and car load of people didn't help him get any faster. I should go to bed too. Maybe. Got too much on my mind right now.
  2. You know, I might be mistaken. That 12k figure might have included the cost of the car now that I think of it. I suppose it is possible to do.

Thanks man. Feel free to share your stories as well. That impala had a car load of people in it. I still fear no Impala though (watch that one come back to haunt me). I was spiking to 1.2 kg/cm^2 at that point though wot. That's approximately 14 pounds. That is an easy 345+ or so ponies to the tarmac according to the old high boost dyno chart I have for the car when I bought it. Not many cars make that at the wheels. But there are some that do a lot more than that. I don't know why that link won't show. I'll have to check it tomorrow. Still didn't get to put the pics up yet. I will try again tomorrow night.
  4. I just met a guy who is doing that himself. He did all his own labor. I mean everything. From powedercoating the block to pipes and pulleys. Wiring and all. He spent 12,000 without the purchase of the car as it stands. He is not finished. It was very impressive. But not the cheap way to go in my opinion. Of course he is running a t78 greddy set up and g-force ecu. Not to mention some other extra tweaks. I think the na-t conversion is more pocket friendly if you keep it conservative.
  5. Yea I know. Very familiar with that set-up. Way overpriced and not good for the application I want to use it in. Air ride technologies actually produces air shocks that are used in IDRC and JGTC applications. I just got their catalogue yesterday and I'm very impressed. They are fairly priced and feature components that are not overweight and featuring multiple tanks and what not. What I'm getting at is a sensor controller auto level 3 position system running off one compressor and minimal tank just to do the job of holding my car firm on the track and twisties and giving me the ability to ride low and raise up for when I get my trailer and clear my driveway. I'm not talking about front/back/side/side "act a fool" kind of thing. I don't like canover. They are good for show. I'm thinking more than show. ART is much more competitively priced anyways and very well regarded in the scene.
  6. I wish you guys were near me. I'd whoop ya all. ;) Please take it to pm's if you are going to organize any such activity though. Be safe guys. I'm not sure why your PM function won't work. Reboot and try it later. If you still have trouble post it in the website suggestion forum and we'll see if we can get you set up.
  7. I know your guys are thinking coil over. Recently, I have swung the way of air ride. I'm very impressed by air ride technologies and I'm considering contacting them to develope a set-up or adapt and existing technoligy for my SC. I just need to get some money together.
  8. Your security system will drain it over time if you do not start it periodically. Even if the car is in storage, you should at least start it and let it run to warm up, maybe drive it around the neighborhood once a month or so. Even in the winter, I will idle my car for a half hour. Take it out for a small top off of gas and excersize.

Here is the link to the reaction time results. Turns out the time generated is an average of the two best. That put at .069 - not bad but not great either. So I win nothing. <_< They got the abbreviation for my state wrong. My girl cut a .149 - not too bad I guess considering she cut a 3.2 her first time out at the 1/8th locally. Congrats to the winner. I was browsing their pics - and didn't see any shots of my ride yet. But they have the cars I mentioned. Check it out: http://www.gmtunertour.com/reaction_times.asp?event=daytona&section=680C6D44C3B44F39AEFBF0D1BEF14237 I wrote that post above late last night. Looks like I need to spell check. Sorry for the rant. Had a lot to say. I'll get some pics up later. I have to give credit to GM for putting on a decent show. Best one I've ever been too so far. That and they help me pay my bills. So - I'll pass it on. Enjoy.
  10. I understand your point. But I never had a problem with getting my right foot over in time. To each his own. Everyone has their perspective. I can't say it is wrong to use the left foot. I wouldn't though, unless I'm trying to make smoke.
  11. It all started with the drive down. Lots of looks from traffic as soon as we hit the streets. I had the halo's on it. Even the locals haven't seen the car with the halo's on much. They look great on there. On out through Kentucky at a leisure pace. Passed a line of 5 cars on certain country like road on my way to I64/75 Lexington. Passed is an understatement. Grabbed 3rd at around 50 mph and completely destroyed a whole line of lolly gaggers. "That was fun." Christy said. Went on to Tenessee. Enjoyed the winding roads of I75 at a minimal boost level real nice and easy 8 or so psi. Into North Carolina it is now dark. First challenge. I had several cars eyeball the ride as we cruised. But this one Subaru Impreza kept lurking on me. Finally he grabs a gear and jumps it. We line up and I go wide open in 5th and walk him. I figure he had enough but evidently not. I slowed back down to the speed limit and he catches back up. Jumps it again. Christy says, "I think he wants to race." I'm thinking, maybe this guy is not too smart. So I let him line up with me again. We are rolling at about 80mph. I grab fourth and go wide open throttle. It was an instantaneous massacre. 12 cars easy. I never saw him again. Waste of gas. South Carolina - darker. Silver M3 looked to be the generation just before the most recent design. I saw his angel eyes from way back. Cruising around 75 mph. He came up fast. Passed me at what I would estimate 90 mph. I grab 4th at his rear bumper. Walked him like it didn't matter. To be fair. He did not get on the throttle any more or less. Just kept cruising. This guy wanted no action. So we cruise together for a while. I hit the rest stop. 10 minutes later. He is at the other rest stop north bound looking at us. Never did figure that one out. Back on the road - uneventful. Ride into Daytona with no more action. Time to sleep. Check into the hotel (don't ask) and kill two days. Over those two days, met a few challengers. The best one was a 1995 Impala. Sounded real mean. Some blonde in the back seat giving me the eye through a halfway lowered limo tinted rear window. This guy was dropping into nuetral and letting me hear his V8 fury. This is on the strip now. Not a good place to be goofin'. But, I give. He hits it hard with open road ahead side by side at about 20mph. I let him have a jump and go wide in second. Reeled him in and past him all in second gear. He didn't rev on me again. Nice spinners though. The next day was full of honda's turbo and not. A couple dizm's. Took them all on the strip. To be fair; I did see cars out there perfectly capable of beating me. Vipers, ferraris, duece coupes rodded out. These guys don't play though. I didn't even see them cruise the strip very often. I'll have to say, grabbing gears on the strip is not something I will do again. The opportunity for trouble is just too great. Now for Tuner Bash. We got up at 6 in the morning on Friday. I took the car over and washed her down at a bay. I saw a beautiful BMW 3 series - pearl white, black HRE's, lowered, dinan exhaust - then a black one with very similar style. Trucks on spinners, bags, hondas, dzm's of all generations, vdubs, your standard car show circuit. You've seen the pics before. I know I'm not going to get any points in comparison. But I came for the show. So I'm gonna show. We get on a list at 9am. We had a spot by 11 am. I met some real cool cats with a shop out of Jersey that I can not remember the name of for the life of me right now. Rev hard turbo GS3, wicked nasty wrx, sick turbo civic and prelude. These guys were running some bar and throwing some fuel. They had the dvd monitors, wheels, and all the stops. Nice work. They got to plug a spot for Speedvison - Pauly was one of the guys names - him and his brother are "CAR CRAZY" LOL. Nice show guys. I'll post the pics up in the gallery when I get some time. I met some other lexus and supra cats too. Saw lots of hot cars. An M3 convertible - latest generation with 6 sneaky pete's plumbed in the back seat. These guys were the show winners as you might guess. Top dollar paint jobs, CF body panels, Color match wicked fit HRE's, killer sound systems, you name it - they got it. Again, I'll post pictures. I caught a killer snap of one of the m3's purging the nitrous out of his wiper nozzles. I can't even begin to cover all the cars that were there that deserve props. But I won't neglect the Black Skyline from Bristol. This was Leibermans(SP). A shop out of Bristol bought it and changed it around a little. HRE's again. Direct port huge shot. DVD's, chrome pipes, manifolds, hks twins, INSANE. Again, see the pics. I'll try to get them up and have them linked tomorrow evening. I know I'm forgetting stuff - oh yea - SRT 4 neon (yea) 380 horsepower on the dyno. That's at the wheels folks. I hate to say it. I'd be the loser on that one I think. Didn't get the opportunity though. I thought about throwing her up on the rollers - but I made a couple excuses. Too worried about some problem ocurring to my baby. In order to beat 380, I would have had to turn it all the way up. I had no high octane - to much crowd to drive through to get on the rollers, and my baby was throwing oil to begin with if you guys have kept up on it at all. Anyways, the winner - I think - was SLOSUPRA from supraforums. Props bro. 780 and some horsepower on broken wastegate spring if I recall correctly. Good show. I hear he can put down 1,000 in top order. I would have liked to see the car in action. I met several cool cats from Florida. Thanks for stopping by and chatting fellas. Jeff - SC300TURBO - great to meet ya in person. Thanks for the advice. Best of luck to you in all your endeavors. That night we got to see the last show Digital Underground will do courtesy of GM. The Humpty Hump. :D What can I say. Saturday was more of the same. I didn't show though. Just chilled. Cruised a little checked the show out again. Different cars. I tested my reaction time on a professional tree at the GM tent. I'll link up the times when they post them off there site. The winner gets an XM boom box. My best reaction was .030. Perfect is .000. I didn't see anyone do better. But I checked last years and there were at least 50 spots better than that. My hopes for the XM stereo are gone. Oh well. It is far from the real thing too. By I'm proud of my .030. So I'm stickin' to it. I got to see BMSports (Matt) project SC in the works. I have to give props on that. We were supposed to hang out a little more but we got seperated in traffic and never had a chance to meet up again. Maybe next time. Good luck with car my man. The drive home was very exciting. All I can say is BMW drivers like to race. I got to "edumacate" a few of them. There was one tough call. Not sure if I would win or not. Z3 ///M. I need to run another. I'm confident I would win, but I backed out of it due to safety issues. I missed a shift later in South Carolina running a ford lightning. He got me on that. I pulled off to make sure I did not do damage as I had turned the boost up to 15 pounds after Friday. I found that the oil leak on the distributer had become an oil geiser. Not good. Turned the boost down - put a quart of oil in it and went home behaving myself the rest of the way. Good trip. Not the best I ever had, but I got to test the limits a little, meet some cool people, see some great cars, and catch a tan. Thanks LOC.
  12. In an auto - especially front wheel drive, I see no reason on earth to use your left foot to brake. In a manual, rear wheel drive, moderately high power car - I can think of a few reasons to use the left foot to brake. I use my right foot to brake unless I'm doing a brake torque on a rear drive auto. I am learning to use my left foot on the SC. I am far from getting the hang of it though.
  13. I think a blown SC4 would be sweet. There is one available from across the pond. I'll need to do more searching on it. I had a video of it smokin' tires halfway down the track. Expect to pay about 5,000$ conservatively for the parts. Then there is labor. If you have a good understanding and are confident in your work, I'd say it could definitely be done at home in the garage. Boost would depend on blower style - I think the one being used is a twin screw or roots type. So there are specs on that. I'm not familiar with how those things are spec'd out. You could go with a centrifugal unit more similar to the compressor side of a turbo driven off the crank. So boost will depend on trim and pulley size. You should be able to use the oem computer and some additional injector controller to sufficiently handle the job at a conservative boost level. Shoot for 8 to 10 pounds and enjoy the ride. I had a link a while ago to a supercharger that was potentially available. Not sure on where it is now. I'll look around when I get a chance, unless someone else has it handy.
  14. Lexual, I'm referring to a simple, cheap way to raise boost on a stock turbo motor. Disconnect the gate and modulate the throttle or go boom. Or put a bleeder on the gate signal or shim the gate actuator or a combination of both. I recommend none of them. But if I had a cheap turbo car I didn't care about - I'd do it. The fuel cut defender stops fuel cut on turbo cars that are boosted higher running the stock ecu that does not want to boost higher than it is programmed. Where are we going wrong here? Anyways - if the guy says he won, he probably did. Good show. End of story.
  15. You will need to make some wiring modifications to turn your corner lights into fog lights. Check out the faq. If you still have trouble locating the info, I will see what I can find later. Good luck.
  16. Gentlemen, Please keep things on an intellectual level. We are all learning here. If you don't agree, say so politely. Explain why and go from there. You have a learning opportunity. No need to get hostile or offensive. No one has yet, but we are getting border line here and we like to keep this forum strictly informational and entertaining. Not offensive. That said: Fuel cut defender. Supra guys use this (as well as other factory turbo cars) to boost higher on the stock turbos. If you simple splice in a bleeder T or shim the gate, the oem computer will see this higher boost and shut down the motor until the boost is back in the safe range. It cuts the fuel. This is dangerous for the motor and possibly the driver, but can be done safely within reason. If you turbo the na motor, no need to worry about fuel cut in this situation. Thanks guys.
  17. I've got some real good race stories from our trip. Just got back. About the boost thing, a simple bleeder or shimmed gate will allow more. That's it. I am also suprised the 400 came out over a turbo mr2, but hey, props man. Nice job. I'll post up some stories tomorrow night. But for summary: Dead: z3 //M z3 98 corvette 1990 something impreza More hondas than I can shake a stick at IS300 Another SC M3 944 Impala - the ls1 mid 90's version (it had spinners) These kills were on the interstate to and from Daytona Beach. I lost two races. One was because I missed a gear. I also met some cool lexus and toyota guys in Dayotona Beach. BMsport (Matt) - thanks for meeting up with us. He has a project SC going down now that will impress. All done by himself. But hopefully he will come by here and share the details. I also met a few other guys I'll write all about. Somone was asking who is turboed around here. There are lots. It's too much fun. Until some kid hits your car in the rear quarter. Don't ask. Anyways, I'll write all about it tomorrow night. I need to get some sleep. Wait till you see the pictures. ;)
  18. Well here she is all buttoned back up. The before and after is significant in my opinion even for the little amount of work I did. Looks good. Got the o2 wire spliced back up. I cleaned out the 4 liter maf and air element. Had to buy new strait connectors as the old ones fell apart in my hands. Painting the pipes took the most time as I had to polish them down first. To top it off, I'll have to paint them again. No matter. The turbo needs to come off anyways for some attention. Ran her yesterday and she pulls harder at 8 pounds now than before. I think cleaning the intake was a good thing. That and the car is not running as rich as it was. I thing the o2 wire was a definite problem spot I stumbled on. I was tearin up traffic and kickin' it out. I love this car. So it's go time. The car is filthy. Forecast calls for snow to begin tonight. So I need to leave before it starts snowing. To top it off, the car is filthy. Needs a bath. It's 32 degrees outside. So I get to wash my car in the cold. It's probably a little warmer now. We'll get a high of 51. So I guess I better go wash and wax her. Well. We're out to florida. Anyone in Daytona Beach - feel free to holla.
  19. Get it while it's hot. Props on that one.
  20. Yea. It's behind the dash towards the passenger side. Could be a leaf or something in there.
  21. What year? They are practically the same. Never seen a "shift kit" for them either. I think you just mean reworked valves for more pressure. Changes the way the tranny works. Not sure on specifics. Unless you are talking about replacing the tranny with something else or changing shift points in the computer. I'm not sure what you are referring to by the aussies gettin one out and running.
  22. Nice work.
  23. F-max eh? Sounds like a decent set-up. I like the hks stuff. Listen, you have a three bar map sensor. The k&n air filter set-up - was it on the car with a maf adapter before the installation of the turbo kit? Is the stock hotwire maf still in line before the turbo? How is the 3 bar map sending signal to the ecu? Or is it only sending signal to the AIC? I think that is the case. Your injector controller is referencing the map for fuel. Your stock ecu is still using the stock hotwire - or was it swapped to a 1uz meter? You probably need to trick the hotwire maf or get rid of it wich might be possible with the e-manage (and that may be why they recommend it). Did you use a oxygen sensor fake or did they splice in to tie any of them together? I notice you are 97+ - vvti? I would feel comfortable saying your stock ecu does not like the positive pressure or the emissions system is bucking. Give me your e-mail addy pm and I can send you the procedure. Also, I linked up to a site for obd1 and 2 diagnostic troubleshooting. Don't remember where it is though. Try searching. You have some options. Basically, a good tuner should be able to fix the situation without any additional components aside from oxygen signal modification - as far as I see it. I could be wrong. For your car, the e-manage may not be ideal. I know of three people that have had problems getting them to work on both karmen and hotwire. Then again, I think there are a couple of guys that did have success with it. Might try asking on Supraforums.com in the naturally aspirated forum. Lots of 2jz na-t guys there. You already have an injector controller and boost controller. Without being there I would say if you want timing control, try a boost timing management unit from the likes of msd. Make sure you get the correct tach adapter for your car though. I don't have that info off hand, but again, a good tuner should be able to get you set up. Sounds like your shop is a Greddy distributor and they are pushing the e-manage to make a sale. Be wary of that. The unit will do several things that are already accounted for with your current set-up. So you are going redundant with the boost controller, aic, and e-manage on top of it.
  24. Kaaz, Cusco, TRD. 1, 1.5, 2. Pick your poison. JDM market search jzz30 chassis code part numbers. Rear end should work. If you up for tweaking some hardware a supra tt auto diffy will drop in. The drive shaft will need some sort of modification if not just elongation (maybe that is just with tranny swap too though - check that). Possibly input modification. The driver side half shaft is slightly longer on the TT than the SC. Might or might not need to change it. One guy I know of did.
