  1. I read the posts about using Brasso.I used it in the 60's but had never used it on plastic so I took a can with a polishing pad and a microfiber towel to the junk yard to test it first on junker yellow headlights before I tried it on my 93 sc300.It worked great.I put a little Brasso on the polishing pad, rubbed it on good then buffed it off good with the microfiber towel.I repeated this process 3 times then used Plexis after that to protect the lens. The owner of the junk yard and I couldn't believe what a great job that Brasso did.Do the test yourself there must be some old cars somewhere by you.Try it on them first and you'll see how good it works and they stay looking good also. It's a cheap, good and quick fix.
  2. I deliver to a tire shop that specializes in Bridgestone/Firestone,after reading all the posts about tires I decided to ask the tech's about Falken ziex 512's. They told me for the price Falken's blow all the other tires out of the water($59 each).I bought a set for my 93 sc300,smooth and quiet ride, like riding on rails.I liked them so much the next week I bought a set for my daughter's Saturn sports coupe.I really can't see how any other tire could be better as far as quiet and smooth,if that's what your looking for.The tread design is nice looking also.Check them out before making a purchase you'll be glad you did.
  3. Hi, I have that problem with my 93sc300.I took it to the Lexus dealer. They want $250 for the ECU and $150 to install it.A little too much at the moment so I manually adjusted them to my wife's vision and when I'm driving I just look over my shoulders like the old days.I wouldn't suggest moving the mirrors alot manually but a few times won't hurt anything.
  4. I sent my instrument cluster to lextech.org,they say they fix your cluster in 3-5 working days. They had my cluster 8 working days,a 15 day turnaround using express mail both ways. They will not provide a telephone no.# to contact them and they're short and curt answering e-mail questions. They didn't pack the cluster as well as I did when they sent it back and the speedometer needle was loose and sliding around inside when I got it back.I paid for return insurance which they kept the money and didn't insure it.I took the plastic face off and plugged the speedometer needle back in.If you can overlook the false advertising and the poor customer service the quality of their work was outstanding. The needles are a brilliant red and the cluster is better than new.The price is the very reasonable also. There it is.If I had to use them again would I? After seeing myinstrument cluster in the car I'd say yes.
  5. I used the woolite at 5:1 as steve recommended, with a boar's hair brush(can be purchased at any beauty supply store for 2-3 dollars)they're very gentle on leather but stong enough to work. Then after the leather is clean I use Lexol leather conditioner.Turns out great
  6. I used Brasso(metal cleaner) as advised from an old post.Rubbed it on good with an applicator pad then buffed it off good with a microfiber towel.Repeated the process 3 times. They came out looking pretty, like new.Now all I have to do is use some Sprayway (ammonia free) glass cleaner and they stay PRETTY.

  8. If that's what it is,a safety feature that's a relief. It's just I've had the car 3 months and it hadn't done that before. My wife drives it the most and I was just wanting to make sure it wasn't a problem waiting to happen
  9. I'm new to the forum, spent 6 weeks going through the entire forum and the detailing forum also.I've used alot of the information to save alot of money and time. There are way to many people to thank to even try to list them all and I've seen a great many writers from postings of years past not contributing anymore but their help was as useful as if they posted yesterday.I thought I saw this problem answered in a post that even using keywords I'm unable to locate. I just got my cluster back from lextech(SMD red needles) absolutely brilliant.I put it back in along with the dimmer control unit.I also had put back the drivers seat and connected up the electronics. Now when the car(1993 sc300) is in park and I push on the brake there is a clicking sound very distinctly coming from the emergency brake handle. It doesn't do this in reverse or drive, only Park.showed I be concerned? It runs great no other problems.AWJ do you still read these? I'm 52 years old and I can't stop looking at my car.I bought a porter cable with the velco backing, clayed a car for the first time followed Steve's pinned post to the letter.I've always cleaned my cars but never detailed one.I like the feeling and the chance to drift in thought while your doing it.I have the mechanical done after researching the forum and ordering parts online,by reading all the posts and opinions I can see which way the majoity is leaning and toward which products then try them and see if I agree.I change my own fluids and rotate the tires but mostly I just detail. Thanks Bill
  10. Hi AtLast, since you're in Denver don't be scared off by the dealers KuniLexus has been very helpful.Ian in the parts dept. has given me many parts no.#'s so I could research to find the best prices on the net.Stevenson Lexus has been very rude and curt.Good Luck with your new baby
  11. I asked the internet parts manager how much for a lower control arm bushing (rear-#4865524050) Bell lexus quoted me $22.98,Sewell lexus said $39.23 for the same part no. but mind you thats one bushing no kit
