  1. I visited my lexus dealer , to get an oil change and my headlights ID'ed The service writer said an oil change does NOT include checking fluid levels or tire pressures ($59.95) That is called a "full service" and costs approx $115. Am I nuts to question this? leot :cries:
  2. story is; we went to the dealer for a test drive; our salesman wasn't in; manager assigned another salesman for test drive of GX. He was apoplectic about his assignment; told me straight out he didn't want to do a test drive for another salesman. He refused to answer any questions, just stared straight ahead. (this was prior to moving an inch) we got out of the GX. What he didn't know was that I had spoken to him on the phone previously about bluetooth applications (without identifying myself) . He was the only salesman at this dealership who was phone and bluetooth literate. He had all the answers and correct ones; so I wrote it off as him having a bad day like we all do.
  3. I am stuck with Lexus; since 1990 I have not owned anything else. I have leased 4 LS's; purchased 3 Rx's and a GX . I can't drive a Volvo, what would the neighbors think? Seriously, I am going to keep the GX, I love it. My wife can drive my 99 LS (66000 miles). I go to the grocery store and the bank every day because it gets me out, and the bank girls are gorgeous. I do all the cooking, and like fresh stuff, so to the grocery store 6 days and sometimes 7 per week. Today my wife got up at 4:30 and drove 150 miles for an 8 a.m. meeting for her "bidness" She is 69 and feisty and weighs the same as she did in eighth grade.
  4. I traded in my RX for a GX after 3 recalls on RX. (05 GX for 05 RX) My wife used it for bidness (republican spelling) She parked it this morning and took my 7 year old LS, said she is done. I now will use the new GX for grocery shopping. (I love the GX) I am 71 retired. The reviews on the hybrid RX are awful, so I am stuck, driving 5 blocks back and forth every day to the grocery store. Worst thing is that all her hillbilly CD's are in the GX, and my classical CD's are still in my old LS. Her GX complaints are; hard to steer, can't see out the rearview mirrors because of the headrests in the back, hard to get in to our narrow door garage, passenger seat doesn't have multiple settings for her bidness contacts. jerky transmission at times, clunks; can't operate her hands free V710 phone while in motion easily. hard for a 5 foot 7 woman to get in and out of the car, the only thing she likes is that her coffee and bottled water don't spill, like they do with the old LS. I Need some suggestions on what to do. I want a reliable 4 wheel drive for winter, but can't see re-trading back to an RX. The GX has under 5000 miles after 8 months.
  5. Jeez, my LS is 6 years old and my insurance is over $1300. I have no accidents and no points and have been with Liberty Mutual for 35 years. We don't pay auto property taxes in New Jersey. I drive about 3500 miles a year (geezer) leot
  6. Why is it that every Lexus dealer wants to enhance scheduled service and then some. Lexus suggested maintenence is pretty clear, but the dealers want to change fluids long before the book suggests, want to do a "tuneup" at 60,000 miles when it isn't due till 90,000 or later by the book. When I ask for scheduled items only I get a look of disdain and pain and have a real heck of a time getting a price on the scheduled items only.
  7. jeez, I had two 2001 RX's with NAV and I don't remember that button. I traded both in because 1) I wanted an 04 RX which I traded in again because of all the recalls; for an 05 GX; and 2) traded in the 2nd 01 for an 04 RX which was past the VIN cutoff for the Canada assembled units re:brake booster. I must say though, that my favorite Lexus is my 99 LS, of the three I own. I have the GX so my wife can get to work in the snow. She refused to drive the LS if any bad weather. my gross income is social security, I totally depend on my wife to bring home the bacon (which I lovingly prepare; I cook every meal, clean, gas all cars, pay all bills; etc. my wife only has to work and shop, she has NO other obligations)
  8. Wouldn't that option (POI = OFF) turn off all Icons?? If so, what I am actually trying to do is remove certain Icons from the screen that are currently showing" It seems that it has to be done through Menu, then Setup, and then the area that says "Show POI Icons" but when I press Change I don't see option to REMOVE" Any suggestions??? Thanks for your reply. Ben ← ← If I understand you correctly, you want to remove (for instance) some but not all icons, like some gas stations: if so, you can't do it; you can however, zoom in and get only icons for that map area. leot

  10. I phoned lexus (1-800-lexus) to inquire about the brake booster problems with the 04 RX 330. I was informed that they are still working on it, and have not initiated a recall, but said I could get technical service bulletins by calling 800-424-9393. I called that number; was told that those bulletins were available for $38.23 per hour; which covered copying costs, said some bulletins were 300 pages (I doubt that) This is not a Lexus site, but a national sight for all automotive bulletins. Does anyone know (USA ) how to obtain Lexus service bulletins? I am getting totally different answers to the brake booster problem, depending on which dealer I talk to. some say all 04's have the problem (only a strong person can stop the car if the booster fails), and others say there is a cutoff VIN after which the boosters are OK. Any answers out there?
  11. RX 330 purchased 7-10-2004 from Wilke Lexus, Devon PA. last 6 VIN 030515. I have tried to ascertain whether this car has a suspect brake booster; I am told by another dealer that ALL 04 RX330's have the booster problem; I am told by Wilke Lexus that there is a cutoff date by VIN after which the boosters are OK, and that any new booster would be identical to that which is in the car. Since this car is being driven by my daughter 50 miles per day (commute) I would like to be assured that she won't have a problem with the brakes. I owned another 04 RX, which when I took it in to the dealer (Prestige Lexus) for a recall, he told me he was keeping the car, and gave me a loaner because of the booster problem . He said he had at least 13 more RX's with the same problem. I subsequently traded in that RX for a GX (Jan 13 of this year). What is the real story with the brake boosters?
