  1. A few months ago I decided to investigate the vibration that I was experiencing in the front end of my 2002 IS300. While travelling at highway speeds there was a very subtle, yet annoying, vibration of the steering wheel. When the brakes were applied the problem seemed to get much worse. So I was thinking about problems related to: my tires, my wheels, my brake system, my steering system. To systematically work through this problem, I first took off my winter tires/wheels and replaced them with my summer tires/wheels (this set was balanced by the dealer). No resolution of the problem. Next I decided to replace all 4 of my rotors and install new pads. I chose drilled slotted Brembo rotors with Axxis pads. The problem resolved somewhat. The vibration was not noted while braking but was still present while travelling at highway speeds. After a couple months with the new brake set up, the problem gradually became worse to the point where the steering wheel shimmies whenever the brakes are applied. PLEASE HELP!!!! Does this sound like the new rotors are warped (I do not brake any different than the average driver) or is something else going on. Could it be a suspension problem, a steering system problem, some other problem with the brake system? I am at a loss. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Also, besides the normal causes of warped rotors (ie inappropriate heating/cooling cycles) are there any other conditions that would predispose the rotors to warpage?
  2. If I add an aftermarket amplifier to my stock is300 system, will I still be able to use the audio controls of the head unit (bass, mid, treb, bal, fad) or will these be defeated? If so, any suggestions on the best way to add an amplifier?
  3. Any one know if they are tough to install?
  4. i often find myself salivating while reading all of the different modifications in the forums. i finally decided to frivilously drop some dough on a couple of mods for my 2002 is300 sportcross. i previously had a joez intake with a tom's drop in filter. mediocre at best; the sound was improved but performance gains were undetectable ("phantom horsepower"). yesterday i installed the borla/team lexus exhaust. great sound, deep, throaty, not austentatious or attention getting; just what i wanted. then i installed the srt intake with ecu. HOLY effin SH*T!! when driving around town with normal throttle pressure the sound is subtle, but noticable; not obnoxious. however, slam the pedal and everyone within a 1/2 mile will be saying "WTF?" my IS is now a sleeping beast just waiting to be awoken. money very well spent!!!!!!
  5. Please describe the problem. I have a 2002 is300 sportcross and when I switch from reverse to drive, I hear/feel a loud "clunk" originating from the front wheels.
  6. Supposedly, by retarding the exhaust cam by about 5 degrees, an 8hp gain may be realized. Does any one know if this is true or just bogus. And, if it is true, is there any chance that the bolts on these adjustable gears could loosen and then the exhaust timing would slip to fully-retarded (no pun intended) or fully-advanced and totally f-up the engine's top end?
  7. I recently purchased an IS300 crosssport 2002. Does anyone have any opinions about PLP intakes. Does the drop-in filter work or do you recommend the silent flow kit?
  8. i've been seeing a bunch of discussion of making replacement baffles for the front door speakers. does anyone have a template that they could provide in a .pdf format or other format so i don't have to rip my doors apart yet. i mean, just the outline, i can figure out what holes i would need to cut based on the speakers i have.
