  1. Who said anything about racing? I chased someone down that cracked my windshield! What would you do, casually keep driving? You let people walk over you, and more bad occurances such as that one will happen to other people. I guarantee those kids wouldnt do somethin like that again. They were all *BLEEP*ing their pants.
  2. Yall want to hear a story about the ES. I drive a '96 ES300. I use to drive a '00 Nissan Maxima on a lease, but I needed something I could put some miles on so I bought the Lex. When I first got it I thought it would handle like my sisters camry which it did at first, until I put it to the ultimate test. So I'm driving home from watchin a movie up at the theatre with my friend and we are going down this 2 lane road through this rich dallas suburb that my friend lives in. No one else is on the road. A car is coming towards us and we are the only two on the road. So as we pass it I hear a SMACK on my windshield. (Sounded like someone through a bottle at my car.) so I instantly busted a U and began to pursue whoever threw something at the Es that I had just bought! He notices that I'm onto him and he ducks into a side neighborhood thinking I'm not gonna catch up. I hadn't really had used that ECT button b/c I know it sucks gas but I figured now was a good time to be accelerating fast so I pressed it and punched it after these punks. I turn onto the street right as they are turning onto another street, so I am now like driving so damn fast through this neighborhood trying to catch up w/them to get their plate. Tires are screeching and engine the engine is purrin' nicely :whistles: I still didnt think I'd be able to keep the car on the road b/c I didn't think it would handle that well, but I had to catch these punks so I pushed it anyways. I was shocked at how well it handled. Finally I catch up to them (they were in a '99 volvo, yeah the box shaped ones), I got their plate, but I continued to pursue them. They are drivin as fast as they can even though I am right on their asses, they get out to a main street and they go against traffic passing people on 2 lane roads and everything. Then we finally reached and intersection and one of those new m3 bmw's realizes somethings up so he decideds to join in on the chase. So we got to another intersection and boxed him in and it was a car full of rich kids scared sh*tless. B) I begin to get out of the car and this dude backs out almost trashin the m3, so we decided to chill since we already got his plate and called it in to the cops. The guy in the m3 then asked me if we were out of our minds and asked us what had happened. So we told them. Anyways, sorry to bore yall, the story ends like this. We get back to my friends and the cops come to the house to write a report, and they told us that they had a squadcar waiting at the boys house before they even got home so they were in the S*** with thier parents. Turns out it was 5 High School Seniors throwing water balloons. I had no idea a water balloon could do that much damage. I guess the velocity between the two cars at 70 + miles and hour would do it. So the next day two of the soccer trophy wife moms came to my house and wrote me a check for 500 bucks for the windshield damage. I figured I came out ahead, what do you think? It was a crack about 4 inches, no biggy. Well it definately put the ES to the test thats for sure, and I will never doubt that car again. I would feel confident chasing down some punk doin that again any day. So what do you think, that story top it for performance on the ES. Its a great car and I havent heard a peep out of it since.
  3. I'm looking to replace my speakers in my '96 es 300 , and I went to several audio sites and they said that the front speakers are 6 1/2 and that the rear are 6 x 9. I took the front speakers out to measure them and I found that they are only like 6 inches. Maybe someone could help me. I was lookin to replace the front door speakers with Infinity Kappa Perfects 6.1 component system, you can snatch them for a pretty good price off of ebay. I was also looking at focal, but I'm not sure if the mounting debth is too deep. Drop me a line. Thanks, Mike
