  1. Thanks for the tips...as far as how long a belt will last can be questionable..Obviously the dealer wants to avoid problems as well as make money....My last Lexus 400 after 125,000 broke the timing belt and the car was never the same again...I rode just like new even at 125,000 miles...when you sat in the car with engine running you could not even tell....no vibration at all and the hood did not even show any vibration...unbelievable....That changed instantly after the belt was replaced.....other damage was obviously done....got rid ot the car at auction through a dealer.... Thank you all...I just feel that i wanted to change the belt on my RX 300 but really did not want to go for so much additional money for the water pump... I never hear about a water pump going and when it does....i don't think it does damage like a broken timing belt. Thanks again

  3. No it is not you...like the others...i don't know why a company like Lexus allowed this ridiculous turning radius....When i turn the Lexus LS 430 it turns on a dime...I cannot believe the small turning radius on the LS430 and it it alot bigger than my RX 300. I actually HATE the turn of the RX300. but it is a good car and that counts more. good luck, allen
  4. I have a 2000 RX 300 90,000 miles. Time to change the timing belt. Dealer has a promo of 349.00 complete plus 45.00 to change the other 2 belts (forgot the names) No addional labor cost since the belts need to be removed anyway. The dealer also said it is good idea to change the water pump and seals at the same time for an addional 700.00. for a new total of 1050.00 vs. only 349.00 The car runs beautifully. Some how i think that since the timing belt is only 349.00 and the water pump is so much more....I might as well Just do the Timing belt. What is your opinion......thank you
  5. Thanks for all the info. I went to Costco A/K/A Price Club they have been fantastic with me re their customer service in the past. They said they liked the Michelin Cross Terrain. They said it is a quiet tire. The Michelin Brochure states "confident handling and smooth, quiet ride of a luxury car". Of course I have no way of comparing it to the Goodyears that came with the Lexus or any other for that matter. I don't think i would go wrong with the Michelin anyway. thanks again, allen
  6. Lexus reliability is excellent and the extended warranty would bring me up to the 100,000 mile mark. If i should sell it with 90,000 miles on it i can still relieve the buyer of many worries because they will have a 10,000 mile warranty and that should help me recoup a good part of the $1950.00 it would cost me. besides piece of mind i am sure it will help on the resale. (if i sell it before the warranty runs out. thanks for your input and good luck with yours., allen
  7. I feel the same way re Lexus reliability but it is still a machine and if i should decide to sell it when it has about 85,000 miles on it I can still tell the buyer that there is a 15,000 mile warranty on it and i will probably get more for the car because of this. Purchasing the extended warranty brings it to a 100,000 mile mark which also includes the 24/7 road service. thanks for you input, allen
  8. I have a 2000 RX300...Live in Florida...what is the best tires to use? Is it the Goodyear that came with the Lexus, or Michelin, or other. Would appreciate input as to brand and size and style name of tire. Of course i like a quiet tire that is good in wet weather and will last. many thanks
