Hey... I've done numerous searches on this forum but none seem to really help me. My 6 Cd changer suddenly does not play any Cds nor would it eject any of the cds out and displays ERROR 3 on the screen. I have an 2002 ES300 with the Mark Levinson stereo system, so the cd player is built directly into the main radio unit in the dash (not in the glove compartment or trunk). what puzzles me is that the cd player was working fine earlier in the morning, but late afternoon it didn't. I dont know if the extremely hot weather has affected the mechanism inside the cd player... The manual said that the player may not work under extremely hot weather conditions....so i had the car in the garage away from the heat. A few hours later it still didn't work and the interior of the car was cool. Any suggestions what i can do ?? Has anyone had this problem before too?? Please respond back plz. Thanks Jay

Heyguys.. Earlier today i used the Cd player in my 02 ES300 and it worked fine. Later in the afternoon the Cd player would not play or even eject the cds...and displays ERROR 3 on the screen. I have a 6 Cd changer built in directly into the dash with the Mark Levinson stereo system...(not in the glove compartment or in the trunk). I don't know if it's the extremely hot weather has damaged the cd player mechanisms inside it, .cuz the past 3 days, the weather has been extremely hot and the car has been left out in the sun. I read the manual and it said that the cd player may not work in really hot weather conditions. So i drove my car and parked it in the garage in my house, away from the heat...and it still doesnt work?? All 6 Cds wont' play or eject out. The radio works fine tho. Does anyone else have this problem ?? If so, how did u fix it so ur'e Cd player works again? Any suggestions help.... Thanks.. Jay

So I brought in my 99 RX to the dealer for regular maintance, and out of curiousity I asked how much I would get for a trade in if I sold the car back to the dealer. So the service adviser told me he can get an estimate (even tho I wasn't serious about trading in) since they weren't busy. Whoever inspected the car was appearantly really impressed how good condition the car was kept. The service advisor told me the dealer would offer $25,000 for it. I was suprised to hear $25000, I was expecting much less. The car has just over 96000K on it, which the advisor said is low for a 99 RX and I have always serviced the car at that dealer so they have all the service records. So it got me thinking if I should trade it in and use the $25000 for a new Lexus. I really like the GS and the IS, but at the same time, I love my RX, so it's really tough. My father told me I should get rid of it. since the gas prices are ridiculously high. What do you think i should do??

Hey...i took my sister's 2001 IS 300 for a drive the other day, and drove it on the highway. I was driving 120 Km/h (80mph) and the RPMs was at 3000. Is that normal?? Does anyone else noticed their RPMs when driving aroudn this speed? I have an 02 ES300 and i know they are different cars but the RPMs for the ES at the same speeds are low 2000-2500 RPM so i thought the IS was revving high. Any suggestions plz? Thanks

Yea the seats on her Lexus does not have any leather trim on the edge of the seats. There's absolutely no leather ...just full fabric throughout the seats.

It is a test bull. It may or may not have that body style. Something very close though. I think the car covered in tape...is actually the 07 Camry. Look at the grill where the Toyota logo is..it's the 07 Camry...can't really tell..but you can see a hump where it would be. The rear tail lights are the new 07 Camry too.

My friend just purchased a used 2001 IS300 for $22000 with 56,000K on it. I thought that was a pretty good price for the car considering the mileage on it for a 2001. I was curious tho..i thought the IS comes with leather and swede fabric seats as standard. But her IS has full cloth fabric...not leather/swede or full leather.? Did Lexus offer full cloth fabric on the IS before? I'm just curious...cuz i wonder if the previous owner had changed the seats. ??

Today my sister was driving her 96 Corolla...and apparently her engine oil light came on on the dashboard. She quickly pulled over ...and apparently she said the engine dip stick had absolutely no engine oil, when she pulled the stick out She was stranded and didn't want to drive the car any further..so some man helped her who had some extra engine oil in his truck. Problem is ....her Corolla engine takes 5W30 oil..but the man put in 10W30 or something like that. What's the difference? Will the oil now in the engine cause more damage? The thing that puzzles my sister and me is that the car is serviced at proper mileage intervals from the dealer...but how did the engine completely run dry? There's no oil leak...cuz i don't see oil marks/spills on the driveway or anywhere her car is parked. I would appreciate if anyone knows any information or suggestions. Thanks

Bring your car to a professional detailing place. They usually wash the exterior and interior of the car...and you can choose different packages or options as to what you want done. My friend's dad brings in his MB once a year to this detailing place..and when the car is done...the interior is so clean. Dashboard, seats, carpets, window etc look new again. But this can be very expensive tho...easily in the $100+. See if they can shampoo your carpets professionally with high power vacuums and brushes that get down deep in the carpet.

Hi...i've been reading a lot of the posts lately and realized that a lot of people have been posting engine sludge. What is engine sludge exactly? How can you tellif you have engine sludge? A lot of posts have people recommending engine flushes? I havent done an engine flush at all in any of my cars..is it recommended? Plz inform me....I have noticed tho that my RX is burning more gas lately tho. Is this a sign?

Sorry to hear about that dude. There are a lot of sick people out there that would do it for entertainment, especially if it's a nice car that stands out. This is no accident...how can the scratch be that long down the side of the car without that person knowing they had something scraping the car. You can buy touch up paint from the dealer....but it will always look different from the rest of the body if you try touching it up with touch up paint even if it's the same colour. I usually use touch up paint for rock chips on my front hood and bumper..and even then if you go up closely u can see a difference in paint. My suggestion is to go to the dealer and see what they can do or even a detailing shop/body shop and see if they can easily repair it. let us know what happens.

I had this same problem with my 02 ES300. I brought it to the dealer..and they replaced the cabin air filter..that was hidden behind the dashboard. They had to take apart the glove compartment in the dash as it was hidden behind it. They sprayed the air vents and cleaned the air ducts. The smell went away right after and smells nice...I has never caused me any troubles since. Taking the glove compartment off seems complicated and i thought it would take a long time for them ..but it was pretty quick. Apparently this is quite common for Lexus..as the service advisor told me.

Did someone spill something on that seat before or use chemicals to clean it? ← No one spilled chemicals on it. I've used leather conditioners...but still it doesn't seem to help that much. How often do people usually apply the leather conditioners anyways? Every month?

My rx D light is burnt out too...and the entire light that lights up the gear selector where the tranmission shifter is at. Mentioned it to the dealer when i got an oil change done one day..n he said they were willing to do the job..but it will take a long time to do it..and it would cost me a lot of money. He said this was so minor..and he pretty much recommended me not to do it..cuz the cost was unreasonable ..for that kind of job. I can stll tell where what gear position i shift to...so i took the service advisors suggestion and didn't do the job. Pretty nice of him to not scam me for the $$$ and being honest.

I recently washed my RX...and decided to vacuum the carpet area in the back seats. That's when I noticed the leather on the back seat behind the driver had pretty big cracks in the leather. It's circular and looks like a spider web. I found this odd..cuz no one sits in the back seat..and there is nothing in the back that would of poked the leather or cut it. What can i do to prevent it from cracking more. I'm just worried that it will get worst or if someone was to sit back there...it would rip the leather more. Any suggestions?

Yea i have squeaks from the brakes when i back up in the morning too...on my 99RX300...and my 98 Camry. I brought them in to the dealer before and they said my brakes are working normal and they couldn't find what was wrong. I've recently replaced my rotors and brake pads on all four wheels..on my RX after 85000kms....and since then..i haven't heard any noise when i back up.

Today my mother drove my RX..and decided to park it in the garage at her house. The RX can fit in the garage comfortably...but you have to turn off the radio before going in...or else the antenna will get caught on the garage door. She forgot...n the antenna hit the garage door n the garage door fell down the roof of the car..bending the antenna. Now the antenna is bent slightly....not that noticeable unless you really look at it. But the antenna will only go down half way and makes a loud noise when it's going up or down when u turn the radio on. Does anyone know how much it is to replace it? Or how can i take it apart...cuz i think i can bend it back so it's straight...n maybe it'll go down. ?? Please help if you know how to take off the antenna. THanks

What do you think the horsepower will be for the next generation ES? The Avalon has a 280hp 3.5L V6.. Do you think the ES will have the exact engine or produce some more horsepower than the Avalon...since it's a Lexus? The 06 GS V6 produces 245hp.. ???This is kinda odd?

I'm planning on waxing my RX soon, but i was wondering if it is safe to wax the bumper and the bottom of the door panels. The door panels and the bumper is a different colour...(grey with black body) and I believe the bumpers and the panels are plastic. Is it not safe to wax plastic?? Also do I have to get a circular buffer? or can i just use my hand and buff the wax?

What is the main purpose of overdrive? I never understood it. I played around with it on my RX, and I only noticed some more torque and revs go higher. ?
