I think we may have had a similar problem once before on our sc 400. You might try to reset by popping out the fuse for the unit and replacing. As I recall, ours would lock up and only show some kind of error message.

I have a 92 SC 400 with 130,000 miles. It was serviced at the dealer forever. All maintenance was done on schedule. The last service was done about 1000 miles ago. The car developed this thump when coming to a stop. I found that that the tran fluid was "way" over filled. I have since had an independent Lexus/Toyota garage change the fluid. We have not driven it much since then(100 miles or so) but the sound id still present. I noticed that it does not occur if the overdrive is turned off. Any ideas???
