  1. Thanks, at first I had planned to get the 3M but turns out my dad knows a guy that does tinting and he is hooking me up with a great price but he uses the Lumar film. But Iam glad to hear that it is a good film!!!!!!!! :D
  2. Hey, Does anyone have any pictures of an 06' IS with tint? Please post them if you do, and post what kind of tint it is and what percent. Is it true that the light and dark tint both block out the same amount of UV rays and they both cut the same amount of heat? And does anyone know if llumar tint is good? I can't decide either to get the legal or the 15 percent, does the 15 percent give alot of reflection when looking into the mirriors? And is it hard to see at night? And how many of you have been caught and prosecuted over illegal tint?
  3. Hey, I was wondering is it normal to see the reflection of the ac vents or any other part of the interrior of the car in the tint when you look at the side mirrors? Does it depend on the kind of tint, the quality, and or the darkness? Or is it just the way the light hits it? Please let me know, thank you!!!!!!!!
  4. Hey Iam taking my IS 350 to the dealer tommrow to get the seatbelt's fixed....And I asked them to check that cracking noise (the one that sounds like stones hitting the hood) But the thing is I can't control when it comes, so I was wodnering if any of you have fiqured out what it was so I could tell them, or if anyone has narrowed it down to where it's coming from exactly so that way I can tell them what to check....So does anyone know? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Hey, my friend got his car tinted today....The Job looks phenominal, but some things just didn't quite seem normal to me: He comes to the house and does it by hand (he's been in buissness 18 years, so that's not even the strangest part) but he said that the tint will bubble because the water needs to evaporate and he said the bubbles will go away, is that normal? And he also said not to roll the windows down for five days, is that normal as well? He charged my friend 137, something along those lines. He gave him a lifetime warrenty though, not from him but from the company who manufacutres the tint. The tint was premium charcoal, 18% percent or something (he said that was the darkest you could go in FL is that true?) SO I was wondering is that stuff that he said true? I think it would be best that if I get it done to go to a store, like tint world, don't you guys agree?
  6. I use a car cover from pep boys it's reliable, pretty much water resistent (aside from HEAVY downpours, which is like a wash anyway :D) and keeps the car cool while blocking out the sun's rays. I would reccomend that one, plus it's of grey color so it always looks sharp!!!! Good luck!!!!
  7. Hm this isn't the first time that I've heard about the IS 500, but I don't think 20,000 bucks extra is worth the .3 seconds on your 0-60 time, and the 155 speed max ( I bet that if you took the limiter off the 350 you could get it up there ) and plus the extra gas money. Although the engine (5.0 liter V8) is quite impressive. I guess we'll have to wiat and see what Lexus comes out with, but what is beyond a shadow of the a doubt is that the comfort and reliablity will always be unbeatible!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Awesome!!!! It definitly sounds worth it, I'll probably tint it in November but hopefully sooner!! And when I do I'll post some pics. I look forward to it being my "little cocoon"
  9. Hey, apprently Lexus will be introducing a new IS convertible in January. Has anyone else heard about this? Will it be a hardtop or a soft top convertible? I was looking on other forums and this came up, just wanted to know what you guys thought about it and if you've heard.
  10. O ok, I didn't rub it in parallel because it didn't say so on the bottle, I did the whole hood like it told me to, but I'll definitly try that next. Should I do the whole hood, or just that one section? And how much of the product should I use? How much should I expect to pay if I let a professional do it? Iam due for a service soon, and you've made me really nervous about them washing my car I was going to ask if they could do something about it, but Iam not so sure if I want to do that anymore. I think what your describing (about the people not caring) doesn't apply to all places, I have some friends that work at the automall detailing cars and they don't seem to do that....He told me I could just bring mine in sometime....Thanks for all the help/advice!!!!! [/qoute] If you can't feel it it will probably buff out. The Scratch X is about the best you can do by hand. I;d try again. Remember to rub it in paralell to the scratch until the product has completely broken down and dissapears. Then wipe it clean and check your work. It may take a while. Check out some of the tutorials in the detailing section ;)
  11. That is a good point, but let's hope that never happens :o Because I wouldn't want to go through the pain of seeing glass broken on my IS.....Oh yea and I would hate for anyone to get hurt lol
  12. Hm that's a pretty good point, You should notice quite a difference, especially when driving with the sun to your left. The car will cool down quicker and stay cool easier when driving on the highway. It should be especially helpful in FL.
  13. Hey SW03ES you seem to know alot about scratches so I have a question for you........ I have an IS 350 Silver, and there is this light scratch, you can't even see it if you don't know it's there....Well I know it's there and it bugs me :). It's like a blemish in the clear coat you can't even feel it if you run your finger over it. Someone recommended to me to use maguries Scratch X, which I did but it didn't do much. SO what can I do to get that out? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Yea, I have a black interior. Iam going to do more research but I like the 35% because I don't want to not see anything at night lol. Thanks for all the info, the tinting is just cosmetic right, it does absoloutly nothing for the interrior, correct?
  15. Hey I have a Silver IS350, And Iam thinking about getting tint done does anyone have any pics they can share? Preferably with the silver color, I can't decide if it's worth it. I mean the windows on the Is are already UV protected, aren't they? So it won't really do anything to protect the interrior. So is it worth it? And if I do get it done, how much should I pay to get it done with QUALITY? And where should I go, Lexus? My friend advised tint world, apprently they give you a gurantee as well. I live in Fl in the Coral Springs area. And apprently there are different kinds of tint, which one is best? My friend advised "stealth" is that good? I want dark but still legal. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!!!
  16. Nope, I don't have that problem. It's a defect just take it back and they will fix it for you no problem.
  17. I agree with is350 ace...But I still think the 250 will beat the acura (the is has more horsepower and toque, it's no competition). And plus Lexus is overall a better car. But just get the 350 and totally burn it. And the Acura TL is no competition for the 350, hardly any stock car is.
  18. Hey I recently got the recall letter for the seatbelt on my IS, so I made an appointment to get that fixed, and also to get my 5,000 mile service. Which brings me to my question, whenever you get your oil changed they always give you a date and a milage and they say: Next oil change due at (insert date here) OR (insert milage number here) Now does the date really make a difference? I was always told that the milage is what matter because oil gets old because of use, so why the date? Is that really important? Iam over my 4 months from purchase it will almost be seven months from purchse but Iam only at like 3,400 or 3,000 something. So Iam under my milage (5,000) Either way does the time REALLY make a difference? Thanks for the answers, it's much appreciated!!
  19. My tire sensors went off day before yesterday, it was down to like 25 30 something like that. As soon as I got into the car they went off, I think they do a good job. But I have no idea how the pressure dropped that far so suddenly on all four tires....
  20. My name is Mischa, I live in Florida, and Iam student. I drive an IS350, my first car was the Lexus SC400. :)
  21. I use it sometimes, the paddles shifters are pretty nice, but when you want to get the most out of the car in manuel you pretty much just floor it, but when I drive normally Iam usually in automatic. The shifter will pretty much let you do whatever you want as long as you don't try and downshift at too high of speeds. But I have noticed sometimes that if I don't downshift the car will do it for me but let me still think it's in a certain gear, i.e. I was pulling up to a redlight and to test my theory I put the trip computer on gear postion and I was going from 3rd down to second, but I wanted to see what it would do, so the car shifted itself from 3 to second but told me in the manuel screen that I was in 3rd. Oh yea and when ur in sixth gear and you floor it on a highway it will downshift without you doing so. So...I dunno. But other than that it's full control. I mean it's just like a manuel. and the PWR button will redline everyshift to give you the most out of every gear, and it will keep it in gear longer making for quicker accleration so no shifting down unecessarly. This gives the feel of a manuel, also making for quicker accleration and a sportier ride, while eating away at your gas milage.
  22. I use a cover everyday, if Iam at home for more than an hour I put it on, my cover is from pepboys or discount autoparts. It fits quite snugly, and it's pretty easy to get on and off. As for the tinting, lexus already put tinted windows against UV rays so the tinting I think would be only for looks. But if you don't want to use a cover just wax the car if it's the paint your worried about. I wax the car, and cover it when Iam at home so I cover all my bases. I would advise you get a cover tho if that's what you feel is best, might take 1 to 2 minutes to put it on once you've practiced with it, but it's worth the time!!
