  1. Hey big Mike, I'd like to know how you did it because i want to do the same thing........ Basically, I did not use the dash kit at all. The holes in the side of the din size flip out Monitor and Pioneer headunit both lined up with the holes in the Factory Bracket ( The Factory bracket holds the original radio and AC unit). In the bracket I have the AC unit in the original place at the bottom of the bracket and then the radio and the screen on top. The trim around the 2 units I fabricated out of partical board and a local stereo shop sell sheets of ABS plastic like the dash kits are made of. I cut the partical board to fit in the dash with 2 cut outs for both units. It was cut to fit snug against the bottom of dash vents/clock housing and at the bottom, on top of the AC unit. It must be cut precisely to ensure a snug and flush fit ( a snug fit is all that holds the face plate in, There was not a way to get to the back to secure the face plate without removing the whole dash). As for the plastic I cut it out the same as the particle board with a little over hang to close in the gaps and make the board not visible. I like my Headunits to be flush mounted and not sticking out with a trim ring. It was a fairly easy process. I could not think of another way. It looks clean and I have received some compliments on the install ( especially from people that know there is not a double din for this year ES 300). Take your time. I have a few imperfections in mine because I rushed and it was hot that day. I really wish that a Dash kit would be made for this year vehicle. Depending on the screen size and how it comes out the unit and the brackets it may cover your clock and partial portion of the vent. My screen now is 5.5 and more box shaped. I have a 7 inch widescreen flip out that I will switch out when the Florida heat cools off some. It does not cover as much of the vent. When I have time I will post some pixs of the dash install and the other equipment I have. It is best to run everything from the unit while you have them out and not have to go back behind the dash again.
  2. Does anyone know where I can get a Double din Dash kit for 1999 Lexus ES300 Coach. I have only been able to find single din w/ or w/out the pocket. I am attempting to put in stereo w/ a seperate flip out TV on top. I have tried to mod the pocket on the kit to use an additional din put it will not work. Any website or contact would help. Please let me know.
  3. I actually just found a few salvage yards on-line and they have pictures of several ES 300 for parts. I have sent an E-mail because I actually need a few different parts. Such Right Fog Light (condensation), Now a driver door master switch. I have Pearl Black emblems and am seeking chrome. If they can remove without damage I would like them. The RX switch on E-bay looks identical. Maybe I will ask the E-bay seller about compatibility. He probably tell you anything to make as sale though.
  4. Thank for your response. I found a master switch for a RX on E-bay for a reasonable amount. No ES Switches out there at this time. From the picture the RX switch appears to be the exact same thing. Any chance of compatibility from RX to ES? I did not even bother contacting Lexus yet. It seems to worked fine today but I know it is broke and a matter of time before it breaks completely. Hopefuly the window is up!!!!! Does anyone know of a cheaper parts place on or off-line i could contact. I know the stealership will knock my head off.
  5. Does anyone know if the Camry drivers window switch is compatible with Lexus. My driver window switch seems more loose than the rest and yesterday would not put the window back up. After a few minutes of pushing on it, it finally went up. I had to apply pressure and then pull back on the switch. From previous post i searched, some said this is a common problem and the plastic switch usually breaks. The auto up and down only works occasionally and with some pressure applied to the switch. I have located a 1999 Camry drivers door switch at a local salvage yard for $45. I can't not find a salvaged Lexus in this town. Also some previous postings stated that the plastic switch could be removed and cleaned and/or fixed. Does anyone know the compatibility of the switches and what year Camry. Also if anyone can provide any input or point me in the right direction for a fix or post with a walk through. I have a 1999 Coach Edition. Please help i'm afraid to put the window down fearing it will not go up again.
  6. I agree w/ exdotcomer. When a woman asks "what kind of car do you drive"? Lexus seems to catch their attention faster than Toyota. If you think the other way around, you could tell them i have a lexus with Toyota emblems on it. Nobodys buying that.
  7. 1999 coach edition 80,000 miles. $9,999 cash, Bought Jan 2005
  8. Toysrme thanks for your response, I will definitely be going back to the dealer with your information. Based on your knowledgable responses to other questions on the forum, I hope you have this one right. I have been battling this issue for a while and I just want it fixed correctly the first time. Thanks again for your time.
  9. I know this is a repetitive subject but does anyone have any idea. This only happens once or twice a week for 10-15 minutes now. The car will idle rough and shake, hesitate and black smoke pours out the tailpipe until I get to a bout 60 MPH and then it smooths out. It will do this in stop and go traffic for 10-15 minutes. Now if I I stay at about 60mph for 10 minutes or longer idle returns to normally next time I stop. Sometimes when this happens I floor it and the cars hesitates and smokes for about 3 seconds and then finally catches and goes from 0-60 in like 2 seconds. The light will go out sometimes and it will stayt out for a few days and then it happens again. It has to be fuel related. I hate sensors, I had a ford expedition and battled the check engine light for a year and replaced nearly every sensor. The CEL never decreased performance on the expedition. I have already replaced MAF sensor, I have had fuel injection cleaning, PCV replaced, The car is in excellent condition. Please help.
  10. Apparently that was not the problem. It is still doing the same thing and the CEL/TRAC OFF is on again. They got for that $300. I guess it will have to go back and I'm sure i'll end replacing everything before it will get fixed. any suggetstions?
  11. FYI....Today I sent the car to the Toyota dealer and they determined it was the MAF sensor. .. $325.00 installed using toyota parts.
  12. Steviej thanks for taking the time to respond. I will be scheduling an appointment with Lexus soon. At Lexus of Jacksonville you have to schedule an apppointment with the service department and it is like 2 weeks out. That's crazy
