  1. I replaced mine with the Firestone Destination LE tires and are very happy with them. We have weather very similar to Kansas City. My Lexus handles very well in the snow and Ice.
  2. I have a 99 rx 300 with 245K on it. The current engine has 150 K on it. The engine was replaced due to oil sludge issue which caused engine failure @ 95K. Asside from that I have had a few issues but mostly routine maintenance. See below for a lits of things I have replaced and cost - I did all labor myself. Issues I have had: Strut mount bearing replaced TRANSMISSION Failure @ 200K for me - 4K replacement Lower COntrol Arms @ 230K - 500 Dollars Ball Joints @ 240K - 100 dollars PS Rack @ 244K - 400 dollars Coils - Replaced 4 of them so far - 75 each O2 sensors - 100 each approx. Exhaust Gasket - 30 Battery - 100 Bearings - 100 each Lights - bulbs only Transaxle seals - 65 each - seals transmission fluid at cv insertion Other then the transmission, most of the things I have replaced are normal wear and tear for vehicles. I have gooten over 200K in mikage before I had to replace any major parts. The tranny will go out almost gauranteed unless you have regularly flushed it etc. That is the only red flag really. All and all, I have spent about 10K over the past two years to replace thigns - mind you I DID ALL THE LABOR. At this point I have spent too much to sell it, might as well drive it until it fails. It has been a good vehicle espeecially considering the milage I have on it. I also do all my own work on my 99 RX AWD. I have 145k on it and it needs all 4 struts. Do you recommend that I just go ahead and replace the front upper strut mounts? How much were they and is it just a simple repair as it looks to be? Thanks!
  3. I have a slight odor of gas inside my 99RX AWD. The smell is more noticeable when the car is at idle but you can still smell it sometimes when you are driving. I checked the car for gas leaks and exhaust leaks but cannot find any. Suggestions?
  4. I have a noticeable gas smell in my 99 RX300 AWD. The smell is most noticeable when at idle but you still can smell it sometimes when you are driving. I checked the car for any gas leaks or exhaust leaks and cannot find any. Any suggestions? Thanks
  5. Hey, I got a maintenance manual off of ebay for about $8 last week. The quality is pretty good and it came in handy as I changed the knock sensors out last weekend.
  6. Can anyone help with the procedure to replace the knock sensors? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks I replaced the knock sensor and wiring harness this weekend, the light cleared and everything seems normal again. The job took about 4 hours with about 1 hour of that trying to get a bracket bolt loose for the intake manifold. The bolt is against the firewall and why someone put it there is beyond me.
  7. Can you tell me where you got the harness for the sensors?
  8. My 99 RX 300 would not shift into the overdrive gear when I went above 40 mph. The check engine light came on, I got the code checked at Auto Zone and they said it was my knock sensor. Has anyone experienced this? I did not know the knock sensor would affect the shifting of the vehicle? Thanks An update: This past weekend, I changed out the knock sensors and the wiring harness and the check engine light cleared and seems to be working normal again. The total job took me and my son about 4 hours but almost one hour of that was removing a intake manifold bracket bolt that is against the firewall. Why someone would put a bolt there is beyond me but it is very ahrd to get to. Also anyone that is having this done and is getting close to a spark plug change should have this done also as access to the back three plugs is pretty easy now. Incidentlyafter I pulled the sensors, I checked them and they were fine so it must have been the wiring harness as reported by some of the other members.
  9. Update: I replace the EGR valve with a new one and the same code is in -- excessive flow. Any suggestions?
  10. Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it ← Well, I replaced the EGR with a new one and still get the excessive flow. A friend of mine said it could be the oxygen sensor but I would think that I would get a different error code. Any suggestions?
  11. Car is running pretty good, the only thing that I noticed is that it is shifting later than it should. I noticed that and then the check engine light came on for the first time.
  12. I did reset the ecu by disconnecting the negative terminal for about a minute. Is there a better way?
  13. I have a 96 ES300 that is getting a check engine light for excessive flow. I changed the EGR and vacuum modulator (I got a used part) and cleaned the throttle body but I still get the excessive flow check engine light. Any other suggestions? Thanks
  14. Lenny: I have the same problem with my 96 ES300. Replaced the EGR valve, cleaned the throttle body and I still get the excessive flow code. Any suggestions?
