  1. I guess langka wouldn't work well for me as I have an 05 with Classic Silver Metallic. I'll try the pen by itself first (langka sounded to easy though).
  2. I told you guys but you didn't listen to me !!! :D
  3. Has anyone tried Langka? ← ;) OK, I'll bite. What is Langka? Flashjet ← A Blob Eliminator! http://www.langka.com/
  4. On my way to work this morning, I decided to test my car out. I can confirm the earlier poster's observation that there is a gear shift at about 4,000 RPMs, HOWEVER, I only noticed that this occured when you "gunned" the accelerator. During normal acceleration the shift is at about 2,500 RPMs. For all those hesitating to perform this reflash, I suggest you get off the fence. This is evidently the solution to this very old problem.
  5. Wow, that sounds terrible! 4000 rpm is quite high for an upshift unless you're really pushing on the throttle. If this is what happens when you do the re-flash.......I ain't gonna do it!! :whistles: ← I had my 05 es330 reflashed the other day and have to agree that it seems to have solved the hesitation problem. I also have noticed the higher rpm before upshift but don't really mind as long as the hesitation issue is resolved. Another byproduct of the reflash is that the car seems more responsive and peppier. I would definietly do the reflash again. No regrets.
  6. Weren't we to have this available for dealer install by February 2005? Well February is gone and there's no sight of Sirius. Anyone have any insight?
  7. The December press release noted that it would be available in February. Called several local dealers who had no idea when the unit will be available. In fact, I had to argue with one parts manager who didn't believe me when I told him of the Sirius add on. His response: "why would lexus offer Sirius when we already install XM?" Anyway, does anyone have any news?
  8. I had the same quandry but decided to go with the es330 anyway. I actually was at my Acura dealer ready to pick a TL and then decided to walk out due to how the dealership treated me. Drove down the street to my local Lexus dealer were I had previously purchased two cars. What a pleasurable buying experience. I have 800 miles on my ES but don't notice a hesitation as described in this forum. I do however note a bit of sluggishness as far as pickup is concerned between 15 and 40 mph. I also have noticed the quirkness of the gas pedal as noted above. If I try to gun the car while going really slow there will be a delay for a second and then the car will suddenly accelerate. While this does bother me a bit, it is an acceptable trade off for the following reasons at least to me: 1. No other car in the sub 40K price class compares to the luxury of this car. 2. Only other comporable cars in the price range are : TL (too bumpy/rough ride with cramped drivers cockpit), A4 (too small for me), 3 Series (too small, too expensive for what you get), CTS (too plasticky inside but probably my next choice if my babysitter and law partner didn't drive the same car). 3. Lexus cache and service. For me there really wasn't anything else out there in this price category. I will live with this small quirk (as all cars have some sort of problem) and enjoy this beautiful car until I can save up enough to buy either the RL or a 535 (both of which offer the right amount of luxury and performance) (and maybe the 06 GS). Again, I would go for the ES. My 2 cents. Good luck.
  9. I tried that scenario a couple of times last night. I experienced no delay or heistation, drop out, or whatever you call it. The car responded quickly when I applied the gas. If this is what you characterize as the "hesitation" then i don't have it. What I did notice, a thought was just indicative of this type of car, was a bit of time it took to move starting from 20 mph. Thanks for your reply.
  10. Hi Steviej. Thanks for the welcome. I'm a little confused by your response. Are you saying what I noted about the 20 mph scenario as being hesitation? Because I don't experience the problem from either a complete stop or at 40 mph or higher. If I don't experience any hesitation after 40 mph does that mean i don't have the heistation issue?
  11. Try this: Test 1 1- Drive at a normal speed 2- Take your foot off the accelerator(as if you're in stop & go traffic) 3- When the car decelerates to about 2 mph or lower, press the accelerator normally(not flooring it), and see if the car goes into a lower gear immediately, or it hunts for a gear to go into and then lurches forward. Test 2 1- Drive at approximately 40 mph. 2- Floor accelerator quickly(as if you need to pass another car in a hazardous situation in a hurry). 3- Check that the car goes into a lower gear immediately or there is a rise in engine rpm's while the car is figuring out what gear to go into. This is the hesitation that we're talking about. This is another test where this car fails miserably. There are ways to overcome these problems by driving in a certain manner, but in certain cases you don't have the time or wherewithal to concentrate on "nursing" this weird transmission shifting behavior. ← Just purchased a 2005 ES330. To be completely honest, all these reports had me scared to pull the trigger. I decided to go ahead with the purchase as I've read some posts (primarily on edmunds) that the lag did not exist on the 05's. I'm here to say that I don't think I have this problem with my car. The reason I'm not sure as you guys have me so worked up on what is or isn't the problem I can't tell. I have tried the above 2 tests (gun it from 2 mph and from 40 mph) without incident (unless it develops later). I also tried gunning the car from a complete stop also without problem. The only thing I have noticed is that from around 20 mph if I press hard on the gas I see the tach needle shoot up and it takes the car a little bit of time to start moving. I don't really think this is a problem nor see situations where this could be a problem. I would like your opinion.
