  1. The accessory belt tensioner doesn't have anything to do with the timing belt. It isnt very hard to change. You need to remove the belt, upper timing cover and then the smaller timing cover below that one. The tesioner can be removed then by the three 12mm bolts. Actually, you might not even need to remove the smaller cover, I cant remember right now.
  2. I have seen 20"s on an RX before with out clearance issuses.
  3. Just pull it off, it has 4 clips in it.
  4. You may want to take that to the dealer, there could be a problem with the ambient air temp sensor.
  5. The reason for the fuel pump suggestion is that there should be pressure in the system at all times. If the meachanic said it dropped to 0 after a few minutes, the problem is the check valve in the fuel pump. In a returnless fuel system like the 98 ls there is a valve in the fuel pump that keeps the line pressurized even when off. As far as the starer it is very possible for it to be going bad. I have seen a lot of starters go bad on any lexus model
  6. The bottom of the rear seat just pulls up at the front and slides out. The seat back has bolts in it at the bottom, after taking those out, push the seat straight up to un-latch it from near the top.
  7. The fuse box by your left knee should be a good source for this.
  8. As far as I no it doesn't. At least I have never had one that did.
  9. Once the seat belts are locked they cannot be reset they need to be replaced. The belts have a charge in them and the go off like a gun during an accident.
  10. There is no recall or campaign on this only a tsib. By the way this is only a problem on the North American production rx's.
  11. I have seen this on mostly all models new and old, when its really cold somtimes the windows just won't go down.
  12. Check the temp of the seat surface, most of them get up to 85-88 degrees.
  13. It could be bad plugs, however if this is vvt-i they aren't recconmended until 90k. It could be a coil pack these go bad on occasion. Also you might want to check the service history, misfires are a sign of oil sludge. You could pull your front vavle cover and check for oil sludge, if it is sludged your dealer will fix it under warranty.
  14. It is most likely high road force in your tires. This is very common on all most new models.

  16. The indicators on the original pads just clip on, you should swap them to the replacement pads.
  17. For the 98 ES, I'm guessing you aready got to the slot for the filter since you said there was nothing there. The one filter that has the big plastic pieces on top goes in first. The side that says up goes up, there should be a little tab on one side, that faces you. Put that filter in the slot and slide it all the way up to the top. Take the other filter, the bigger one, and slide that one in underneath the other one. The side that says up goes up and also the tab in the middle should be facing you.
  18. After step 8 when the locks respond back press and hold lock/panic AND unlock buttons for 1 sec. Then press either lock or unlock for 1 sec. After that it should beep and then its programmed.
